Hello everyone,

Long-time Initial D fan here. I've been in love with the series since I first saw it back in high school ten years ago. Looking forward to being a part of the forums. For those of you that noticed my username, I did have a Ford SVT at one point, but no longer. sad.gif

A few facts for you all, in case you're interested:

  • I live in the northeastern USA.
  • I used to have an SVT Contour (Like I said above).
  • I'm an engineering graduate and consequently looking for work!
  • So my posts may be limited!
  • I have a dog! He's named Porter.
  • Aaaand…yeah. That's about all I feel like sharing...
  • Except for the fact that I'm also a gamer. Xbox, if you were wondering.

So yeah. Please excuse my bit of self-deprecating humor. Thanks!

Welcome to the board! So if you gave up the SVT, what's in the driveway now?

At the moment, nothing. I haven't had the money to afford another car, and my parents have been kind enough to let me stay at home until I get back on my feet. However, my old man has a car I wish I could call my own, a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited. With modifications. He's nearly 70 and is turning into a tuner, which I find hilarious.

The mods he has are:
  • K&N Air Filter System
  • Koni Adjustable Shocks
  • Tein Vanadium Steel Springs (Lowered the car about an inch)
  • Cusco Front & Rear Tower Strut Bars
  • Drilled Brake Rotors
  • Yellow Calipers
  • Aftermarket Roof Spoiler
  • COBB Stage 1 Tuned Chip

Like I said. Want.

Hey there, welcome to the forums! Meh, no one is too old for cars... It is good to see he still has the passion for tuning.

Thanks, Tuskano. Yeah, I admire the guy. He's basically building his dream car for half the price of his actual dream car - a CTS-V, Audi RS4 or other European Super Saloon.

Ohhhhhh... An engineer... Good to see some new faces here on the forums. Welcome welcome! I hope to see you around! If you have any lame engineering jokes, you should share them! laugh.gif

Thanks for the words of welcome, Honda. A joke, you say? Alright.

What is the difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers?
Mechanical Engineers build weapons. Civil Engineers build targets.

Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, break it and then figure out a better way to put it together!

Here's a car joke for you all:

There are four engineers travelling in a car; a mechanical engineer, a chemical engineer, an electrical engineer and a computer engineer. The car breaks down.

"Sounds to me as if the pistons have seized. We'll have to strip down the engine before we can get the car working again", says the mechanical engineer.

"Well", says the chemical engineer, "it sounded to me as if the fuel might be contaminated. I think we should clear out the fuel system."

"I thought it might be an grounding problem", says the electrical engineer, "or maybe a faulty plug lead."

They all turn to the computer engineer who has said nothing and say: "Well, what do you think?"

"Ummm - perhaps if we all get out of the car and get back in again?"

Ba-dum, pssshhh!

Ohohohohoho. I like you. I'll kill you last... Just kidding! I'm actually really harmless! tongue.gif

Anyway I got a science joke. If it smells, its chemistry. If it is alive, its biology. If it doesn't work, then its physics.

Geology rocks! Ok now I'm done. I should probably leave the jokes up to you. laugh.gif

Lol, I like that joke.

If it is not leaking, it's empty!

LOL!

If the car heats up in reasonable amount of time, it's probably low on coolant.

Sorry for the delay in responses. Family crisis at home. Just getting a chance to get onto the computer now.

@Honda: Haha. Nice one. Just to correct you, though, there's always something working in physics, even if nothing's moving. I won't go all nerd-engineer on you, but a bridge is a great example. It's constantly experiencing loads and distributing them throughout the various members connecting everything together. You need proof? Watch this well-known video of the collapse of the Tacoma-Narrows Bridge:

http://youtu.be/3mclp9QmCGs

@Tessou: Depends on the day. Black Ops 2, Battlefield 3 (or 4 when it comes out!), Forza Motorsport 4 and Forza Horizon, Defiance, Mass Effect 3. I have more, but those are my most common games that I play.

@Nomake: Sounds like a problem that Fords used to have, too. Not sure if the newer ones leak oil, but older ones sure did. On Subarus the problem always seems to be that the O2 sensor is going. I can't tell you how many times my local mechanic has had one of our Subaru cars in his shop to check for a fault from the computer describing that as the issue.

@Spaz: LOL.

@Spaz: LOL.

It's legitimate logic in the sense that the Evos have more coolant in the radiator than in the entire rest of the cooling system. It's efficient enough that it'll operate half a gallon (1/3 of the cooling system) low and maintain normal temps. It just warms up faster than normal and the heat works better. laugh2.gif

Not really seeing any in that post, but you're excused I guess.

Anyway, welcome to the forums. Always cool to have an engineer here cool.gif
