TA- Time Attack, game mode where you race courses for the fastest times. Times may be posted on the IR. LotS- Legend of the Streets, story mode where you race AI controlled characters BC- Bunta Challenge, game mode where you challenge Bunta to races. Races get increasingly harder the more you race. Boost- in battle mode, allows the follower to accelerate faster then normal. Turned off by both racers holding the brake as the game loads. CP- Check point, generally 4 per stage. Also referred to as laps or sections by some. Gutter- On Akina, a gutter on the side of the road. Allows to corner much faster Buntamobile- Refers to the car that Bunta drives, the Subaru Imprezza WRX STi Type R(GC8V) Fishing- taking an opponents car to your cars best level, or their cars worst level. Not to be confused with someone taking you to a level they are good at, when there car is not the best car on that level. Fisher- someone who fishes Techniques-- Out-In-Out- the basic racing line, start the car on the outside, brake, release gas, turn to the inside, gas at the apex, and then exit to the outside Feint Motion- start on the inside lane, then feint to the outside, turn like normal. Takes a longer line, but results in faster exit speed 5 in 4 out- enter the corner and then downshift at the apex. Sacrifices braking distance for a faster exit speed Eraser- turn the car slightly to the inside, then quickly downshift and upshift before braking. Increases corner entry angle, thus allowing for a faster exit. Can be stacked. Has more effect with cars that tend to understeer, rather then cars the oversteer naturaly. TST(Tsat Seung Tsat or Eraser on Eraser)- two erasers while moving to the inside line to feint. Basically the very fastest form of turning if used properly. Half TST - Erasing 2 times to the inside, feinting out, but not doing another eraser. Sometimes useful for drifty cars. If a drifty cars may slide too much doing a full TST, so sometimes doing a half TST is the best bet. Machine Gun Shifting- Rapidly downshifting to decrease the braking distance needed Apex Ramming/Rail Jumping- advanced Iro technique(also used by Capp on Myogi dry and most other cars on Myogi wet), use varies between cars, direcetions, and conditions. In essence, you use erasers to begin turning the car, then hit the inside railing early, using it to finish turning the car. If timed poorly, it can result in either reversing yourself, or eating the outside wall. The car will suffer an acceleration penalty, however, the exit speed will be far greater. How often you use it depends on what car is being used and what condition is being played. For example, outside of the first jump, the Evo 4 responds poorly to being rammed. The 86M is another example of this, the wall recovery in this car is terrible. However, most cars can use it ATLEAST on the first jump through the last jump. Some cars on wet(S2000, S15, MR2, other slidey crap FRs) can benefit from using it on EVERY corner in the whole course. Alex@ Method: Prematurely shifting to 5 so you can do 5 in 4 out. ABT(Asaki's Braking Technique): Angling the wheel only 10-15 degrees in the direction of the corner, and then using the brake to turn. Primarily used for Iro in V2 with drifty cars like the Cappucino Blocking- Staying infront of your opponent and preventing them from passing. This is NOT a dirty technique. Cutting off- Moving in front of your opponent before you have a full car length advantage. This is NOT a dirty technique. Reversing- Tactic on Iro where the leader purposely gets caught on the apex so the follower gets turned around and goes the wrong way. Gray area tactic, generally not considered dirty. Course Specific-- Myogi: GC(Grand Curve)- the only real corner on Myogi, looks like a wide V Usui: C121- the wide 3 lane corner between the 2 hairpins Akagi: Butterfly corners- the 3 consecutive corners in the end of CP1 L Turn- the second corner in CP2. Sometimes inappropriately referred to as the Vturn The Vturn- the first hard right hand turn immediately after CP3 begins Akina: S Curves - After the 4th hairpin. It's the twisty road that leads to RHOD RHOD(Right Hander Of Death)- After the snake Curves. The Sharp Right Hand turn at the end of CP2. Makes or breaks your TA. known as LHOD on the UH 3 lane turn - the first turn of CP3 DH Consecs- The four consecutive hairpins in CP3. Fireworks hairpin- The last hairpin in CP4 before the long straightaway Iro: Teahouse turn- the fast left hander before the 1st jump, named this from the tea house on the left. Jumps- the jumps after then teahouse turn Happo: CP1 consecs- about half way through CP1 IB, the quick left-right-left-right part Snake Hairpins- the 4 hairpins in the beginning of CP3 IB/end of CP2 OB. Tunnel turn - the turn marking roughly the 1/2 way mark of the course, the one with the tunnel. Sho: W/M turn- the turn that looks like an M Tsuchi: The Bridge Turn - the 1st corner requiring you to slow down on OB, 2nd to last IB Oil Turn - The turn with the oil slick Pylon turn- Turn at the end of CP2 OB, with the orange cones right before it. Roller Coaster - The consecutive turns after the long tunnel. This post has been edited by Excel on Jun 14 2006, 09:08 PM |

Hopefully, like xkhol said, this will prevent new members from making new posts everytime they have a simple question about technique or whatever. I didn't know the last turn on Akina before the straight away was called the Fireworks hairpin until now. |
