More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | You're saying Kylo Ren has no balls? The dude killed Han Solo, ate a bowcaster shot without getting a hole blown in him (like your favorite stormtrooper) and nearly brought the Resistance down by himself, without the aid of Starkiller Base or backup of any sort throughout the film. Face McPunchy Stormtrooper got killed by an Indiana Jones reference, and got a hole in his chest as his reward, yet the new age fandom latched onto his nonexistent "balls". The book that gives him (FN-2199) backstory even mentions that he's nothing special, being a pussy bitch that couldn't hack it when Phasma ordered him to kill a group of renegade asteroid miners. The official novelization barely gives him much mention aside from being rather effortlessly killed after an incredibly short battle (shorter even than in the film). He's insignificant, merely giving Finn and co. (minus Rey and BB8) something to do during the short battle on Takodana, so Kylo Ren could have an uninterrupted encounter with Rey. Was it the stun baton that could miraculously block lightsabers? That's not new, either. Grievous' guards had staves that could easily block Obi Wan's lightsaber. |

The animated Clone Wars had them before he was introduced in the movies as well (Or was it before the third movie?) Also, the fandom has gotten so big that the star wars page dubbed him 'tr-8r' or something. So meh. I wonder how long it'll be before it's released on dvd/bluray, maybe 6 more months?

As for BR/DVD release... May 2016 is my prediction. |

Followed by the snow troopers, then any of them who have a Wilhelm scream. The only reason McPunchy is cool is because there's more acting in his brief time on screen than the rest of the total bad guy screen time. Phasma's part was completely underwritten, Kylo throws tantrums like a child, and the evil general guy, well, he wasn't that memorable. Plus, why is Voldemort in it? I'm really unimpressed with Kylo's character. He reminds me too much of a 17 year old petulant little shit. I'm almost certain they're going to bring him back to the light side in a movie or two. Without killing him, I mean. |

He will turn into a new, ass kicking Vader by the conclusion of VIII, and all of you unwashed will start making excuses as to why you didn't pray at the altar when it was necessary, and instead only performed the laying of hands when it was convenient to your interests. |

Please, and I do not say this with condescension, read the novelization of the movie. It takes the shooting script and expands upon it in many places, making for a better Episode VII. |

But i sort of agree, Kylo will be a badass, it'll take some time, but he'll be up there with Vader in 'evil motherfucker' villain. |

It dropped on shelves in physical form a few days ago, but the audiobook and ebook versions came out way back when the film released. Written by the same guy that wrote the phenomenal Splinter of the Mind's Eye, the very first Expanded Universe title, back in 1978. |

The guy is a pretty prolific author, he even wrote (well as a ghostwriter for George Lucas) the novelization of A New Hope back in 1976.

Not Without Incident Group: Advanced Members Posts: 2,803 Member No.: 22,878 Joined: Jan 18th 2007 Location: Someplace very violent... | I really liked the expanded universe and have had more than a few books to follow the general storylines loosely. In the books, it was still Han's son who betrays Luke, Jacen Solo who turned into Darth Caedus and his twin sister defeats him so this plotline was followed in the movie. Though Han dies in the movie instead of Chewie in the books. Luke had a son named "Ben" (who didnt betray him) and was supposed to be the heir to his legacy so when the movie came out and Kylo was called "Ben.", it was a nice twist. It was as if saying "Hey readers, thought you saw that coming?" So now I still cant say who Rey is. Being as she somehow is in tune with the Falcon and gets along with Han says he may be related to Han (following the book that she is Kylo/Jacen's twin sister), but the feel of the movie is she is luke's daughter. Nice one, George. Yes I know, the movies will now cause the books to be non-canon but they still follow a lot of the plotlines. Its pretty exciting and cant wait for the new movie. |

Which is a shame cause some of the EU stuff was pretty decent, heck apparently they were initially going to name The Force Awakens as Shadow of the Empire (similar to the interquel EU novel that took place between Empire and Jedi).

Heh... It still kinda sucks cause it would have been sweet cause we would have had two Star Wars movies within around half a year of each other (Rogue One - Dec 2016, Episode VIII - May 2017).
