Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Gran Turismo Central > Which DriveTrain do you prefer for drifting? |
Posted by: BlitzSupra Sep 22 2006, 10:54 PM |
For me, I perfer 4WD and FWD because they don't have that much tendency to fishtail. I just let my car slide holding down the accelerator and using understeer to exit at the corners. |

I prefer 4WD and RWD, $WD is very easy to hold longer drifts, RWD is more of a challenge. |
Posted by: eighty_D Sep 22 2006, 11:45 PM |
FR for me, although I have a couple MR's I like. |

I prefer 4wd and RWD... I don't much like Fwd - too much understeer... I just like to slide - I beat a bud of mine, I was drifting and he was doing a grip run - in drifting u can take some corners faster than if u were doing a drift run... |

i hate ff cars, i prefer FR and 4WDs, MR is ok as well |
Posted by: outlaw-2 Sep 23 2006, 12:22 AM |
FRs, MRs, RRs. 4WD is a bit of chore for me on asphalt. M4WD is even harder. |
Posted by: EA99 Sep 23 2006, 12:47 AM |
mr car collection = full of MR's but thats GT2 but meh, list as follows TUNED: SC AW11 NA AW11 NA SW20 (G Limited) Turbo SW20 9 (GT-S) MR-S Concept MR-S Turbo Lotus Elise TRD200GT Toms T020 Honda NSX-R These cars are all i use unless i need to do the "Special" car events. |

If you're only talking about GT4 then....... a few imprezas Miatas NSXs FDs MR2 and MR-S anything that slides easily when turning even at no gas, I love. and since the majority of slide happy cars are MR(please correct me if i'm wrong) then it's probably MR or *insert_correction_from_other_posters* |

MR, 4wd, FR, RR.. in this order. and FF's don't drift. they just wag that ass around though, Focus RS is an exception. |
Posted by: WRX Sep 23 2006, 03:30 AM |
I drift with FR and I can hold some drifts long like other 4WDs |
Posted by: VTiRoj Sep 23 2006, 10:00 AM |
FR: Always prefered the classic FR layout for drifting, well balanced and doesnt require much to make it oversteer. RR: Tried it, hated it. The rear is way to swingy for me, couldnt hold longer drifts. MR: Better than RR, not as good as FR. Well balanced but its just too balanced. 4WD: I havent got the hang of 4WD drifting that good yet, its just smokey understeer when I try rally is a different story, I think I kick more dust sideways than Nomura on the tarmac FF: Actually fun to "drift" with, needs a stupid set up though, usually makes the car feel sloppy to drive. |

try my Stagea setup for any 4wd with similar power level, and try again. it works better with cars that have rear biased power distribution. |
Posted by: mark4000 Sep 23 2006, 03:58 PM
THEY are balanced to you? They're as swingy as an RR for me. >_> the rear wheels tend to skid very easily. but that's just probably because of GT4 itself. |

AWD, 4WD, RWD and FWD for me. EDIT: It really doesnt matter where the engine is placed. |

*Second Try to add Poll* Ok, it works now... Sorry about that... |
Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Sep 23 2006, 05:03 PM |
Oh, another two missing - MAWD. LOL. and RAWD. |
Posted by: Möbius Sep 23 2006, 05:05 PM
Do you think they should be there , or is AWD enough? |
Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Sep 23 2006, 05:15 PM |
well, sure they should be there, since FR, MR and RR are there. and change AWD to FAWD. |
Posted by: Möbius Sep 23 2006, 05:18 PM
There you go, but it looks a bit weird... |
Posted by: FinToy-83 Sep 24 2006, 12:15 AM |
what dose all these awd:s mean? are they like this? FAWD: front-biased/front engined awd RAWD: rear-biased/rear engined awd MAWD: mid-engined awd |
Posted by: mark4000 Sep 24 2006, 02:11 AM
is there even such a thing? |
Posted by: outlaw-2 Sep 24 2006, 04:39 AM
Lancia Delta S4 is the answer... Supercharged and Turbocharged engine as well in real life. |
Posted by: mark4000 Sep 24 2006, 04:45 AM |
great. thanks for the info. |
Posted by: awdrifter Sep 24 2006, 11:10 AM |
Is FAWD front engine AWD or front biased AWD (power bias to the front)? |
Posted by: FinToy-83 Sep 24 2006, 11:12 AM |
don't forget Peugeot 205 T16 and Tommykaira ZZ-II |
Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Sep 24 2006, 02:35 PM |
For clarification it is this: F-AWD - Front engine AWD - e.g. Subaru Impreza. M-AWD - Middle engine AWD - e.g. Tommykaira ZZ-II R-AWD - Rear engine AWD - e.g. Ford RS200 (?) |
Posted by: Möbius Sep 24 2006, 02:51 PM
The Ford is also MAWD, one car that comes to mind that is RAWD is the 959, but that's not in the game... |
Posted by: eighty_D Sep 24 2006, 03:07 PM |
Ruf CTR2 is R-AWD |
Posted by: outlaw-2 Sep 25 2006, 07:03 AM |
M-AWD cars.. -Ford RS200 -Peugeot 205 -Lancia Delta S4 -Tommykaira ZZ-II |

Silly people who say FF cars drift..... BTW FR all the way! |
Posted by: sileighty of Usui Sep 26 2006, 08:50 PM
long time no see gold ultima lol but some FF's can drift i think... cause i mean what exactly do you call a drift? |
Posted by: Gold_Ultima Sep 26 2006, 10:48 PM |
High angle throttle steer. |
Posted by: Adriankat Sep 28 2006, 07:50 PM |
FRs Really easy to drift but its also really hard to control the drift. I also drift with AWDs, specifically WRXs. |
Posted by: FinToy-83 Oct 2 2006, 06:51 AM |
oh yeah? well, I drift Range Rover. |
Posted by: MidnightViper88 Oct 2 2006, 12:43 PM |
Where the engine is placed at doesn't mean shit to me... RWD only for me... Drifting a FWD car is just retarded, and AWD cars have too much front-end powertrain influence to make things fun... Want fun? Run a rally course in a hi-powered RWD car, like a fully-modded Hemi Cuda or Mustang GT; Fast-paced and frustrating fun... |
Posted by: FinToy-83 Oct 3 2006, 03:38 AM |
^ you forgot to mention that it might leqad to demolition of few controllers. |
Posted by: PeterTWJ Feb 16 2009, 05:02 AM |
I prefer to drift with FR and FAWD. Favourite Drift Car: Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 with N3 Tires. |
