Of course I started hitting the touge (even before the Evo in my 2g DSM), but one day 3 yrs ago, a friend convinced me to check out a track day...and I've been hooked ever since. I started competing in Redline Time Attack & Extreme Speed AWD Competition last year and was able to finish 3rd for the season! I then teamed up with a fellow competitor & Evo owner to form LSL Motorsports, and we're currently in 2nd for Redline and both 1st & 2nd for the Nitto Tire XS AWD Competition! Oh and by day, I'm working on an automotive x tech startup with a few other MIT folks @ Project Hyperion Pics of course, follow our Facebook & IG for more! I'm going to try to swing the Laguna Seca event next year if I can. I shouldn't have any problem if I don't have any major issues in the Spring again. A hard-to-find ACD failure cost me both that event and the Madison, IL event this year. I'd definitely like to see a mod list if you're willing to share! And it's good to see some representation still at Redline since Gates bowed out and all... But he's got some pretty cool stuff still going on. |

I was planning to do the Optima events but have been putting most of my resources this year into my startup, Project Hyperion. What was wrong w/your ACD? A fellow track Evo had an ACD issue as well. Thanks man! Control system failure on the pump assembly itself, either the pressure switch or solenoid, but for whatever reason it would build pressure but wouldn't relieve it, so the center diff was 100% locked 100% of the time. Caused some crazy binding that would shoot back and forth from the front to the back of the car with the wheels turned, and ended up destroying the front helical diff. We thought it was the center diff initially, tore the trans apart and found nothing wrong, tore out the t-case and found the diff's helical gears wiggling all over the place under load so we replaced it, then put it all back together and the problem went away. So we bled the ACD, and the problem came back. Ended up disabling the system and I ran the car with an open center diff for a lapping event while sourcing a replacement pump assembly, which did end up fixing it. But it was an expensive and PITA process. Have you had good luck on the track with the RRE trans coolers? I've got a local who's going with the pan heater to heat/cool the fluid, which should be an interesting setup if it works as advertized. People are doing some crazy stuff to keep those things from killing themselves. This post has been edited by Spaz on Jul 24 2014, 10:28 AM | ||
