I'm thinking of adding forced induction on my tiny 4G15 for daily drive. Anyone done it before? Not necessarily on the same engine, just BOT or BOS in general?
P/s: I'm back.

Huh... you can do that in Malaysia? I always thought engine modification is prohibited or something...

But anyways, I've always had the impression that BOTs are bad for the engine itself (???), makes it run less years or something, so maybe a engine swap to a larger displacement one is possible? Even though there will also be problems welding stuff together at some point.

You can actually mod your engine here, but you'll have some new friends in blue. tongue.gif
Yeah that's what I've been told too, since it causes extra stress on the engine. I'm thinking of somewhere quite mild, around 0.5 - 0.8 bar of boost? But honestly that doesn't sound all that promising, especially that's a setback of about 10k bucks.

I don't think starting with a BOT or BOS is good idea. Have you considered DOHC conversion?
Maybe a lightweight flywheel and EMS too, and also new peformance intake manifold with internal ram tubes

What do you drive anyway. Proton? I think there is a difference between what you can do in a Mitsubishi 4G15 and a Proton 4G15.

I don't think there's a DOHC for the 4G15. As for internal ram tubes and intake manifold, I'll consider it after at least replacing camshafts and pulleys and port and polishing. Then again, I can't even find them on sale, except for the ram tubes, but that is not forced induction friendly, and could actually make my car worse apparently.

And yeah, I'm on a Proton.

Maybe you can also ask around on the Mitsubishi forum regarding 4G15 DOHC conversion. I am not so sure on how available are the parts, but it is definitely there.

But really it might be just as tedious as swapping in a 4G93 in there.

Never heard of a DOHC 4G15 though.
As for a 4G93 conversion, I find it tedious because I need to pay more for road tax and govt inspections. I'm supposed to keep it subtle because I didn't want my family to find out.

Current Colt uses a DOHC and MIVEC version, but it's also factory boosted. Knowing Mitsu, the internals are going to be different from the NA variant.

The current 4G15 also has a totally different mounting compared to mine. I wonder if I could get a half-cut and then steal all the bits though? Since it's the same engine.

Also, sort of unsure if I should super or turbo. Supercharged cars are quite rare here so it's a plus and a minus. Then there's the perpetual turbo vs super argument. sad.gif
