Looked high and low for an older topic on this but couldn't find one.

Anyway, I'm actually pretty excited about this one. They're bringing back fighter aircraft and other stuff that was left out of BF: Bad Company 2.

I've been getting kind of sick of all the FPS games that have been coming out recently, but this one should actually be good.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get it on PS3 or PC, though. I'd normally say PC hands down, but my computer's starting to show its age with some of these newer games. sad.gif

I'm building a computer specifically to run this.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it.

I'll probably be playing the PS3 version until I build a computer that can handle this. The consoles will only support about 24 players I think while PC will be in the realm of 60.

I'm surprised no one made a topic as well...So ready for this, since getting into 3D animation program last summer, I have a gaming PC and should be able to run the game (also switched BC2 on PS3 to PC). I'm a hardcore BF fan and cant wait for it!

DICE has already stated that BF3 will not run on anything short of Vista or Windows 7, and requires DX10/11 support. It's also heavily recommended that you use the 64-bit version of Vista/7 if you aren't already.

Be prepared to throw down some serious money for a higher end graphics card. If you're not rolling something in the GTX400-500 range or one of the more ridiculous ATI HD59/6900+ cards, you're not going to be seeing anything better than the default settings.

Pricing the top of the line GTX590 at $600+, you're not going to be playing this game for cheap.

Sir, I've been using exclusively 64-bit OSes on my desktop for 3 years now.

Quad core AMD, 4GB of RAM now, 4 more to come, currently rocking an 8800GTS for graphics, but that will drop down to my x8 slot and do dedicated physx, Something big and expensive and ATI will be filling the x16 slot and will Hybrid Crossfire-X with the onboard for a tad bit of extra oomph.

Trust me, I've got this on lock. wink2.gif

Welp... there goes any chance I'd get it for PC. PS3 it is!

The only thing I see missing there is more RAM, unless you're using Vista 64. The absolute minimum for Win7 64 is 4GB. I just recently stepped up to 6GB and it worked wonders on performance.

But hybrid Xfire with IGP doesnt improve performance........
its there to save power, infact, iirc, you'll lose a few frames.

However, having ran a GTX260 as dedicated PhysX with an ATI card? that was pretty awesome.

and Rogar, PC is the lead "Console" for BF3, you'll be missing out on some 64 player map action on the PS3.

I'm just waiting to see some of the folks wielding dual Classified GTX590s to play with this on quad-SLI. And naturally their rigs are still reading OS WEIs of 7.8. laugh.gif

Spaz, my bad for not noticing you were upping your RAM to 8GB. That'll be vurrynaiiice.

As for me, I'm thinking about boosting to an AMD Quad myself since my X2 is becoming a fossil. Perhaps the entire motherboard needs to be swapped out as well since my current one doesn't support more than one GPU (thus, no SLI unless I get something ridiculous like a dual-GPU card with onboard SLI). I've never trusted onboard GPUs for performance in any way, even as backup.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'd definitely rather get it for PC. But at the moment, I'm not sure I'd be able to run it. Although, it's not coming out any time soon. I guess I've still got plenty of time to save up and upgrade my PC.

AMDs new line of Processors is set for release around June 7th or so, along with its new 990FX chipset, which will finally support nvidia SLI without the need for driver hacks.

Bulldozer, as AMD calls it, (the official name is "Vision FX", but no one calls it that haha) seems to have finally caught up with intels current lineup after falling behind with phenom.

I'll defiantly be early adopting, as well as crossfiring on that platform. Ive been waiting for years to have it release, and now we're so damn close! ARGHHH!

I think I'm fine, might change the graphics card but should still run alright with what I have specs are:

Windows 7 (64-bit)
Intel Core i7
ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1GB)
12GB RAM

I needed a strong PC for my 3D renders so I should be set other than the graphics card....

Well, here's a bit of extras of BF3 from EA PWNED. Mostly showing the soldier animation, destruction scale, concept and early tests of the maps. Pretty epic considering its still alpha stage (cant wait for the beta happy.gif).

First video is an edited compilation of the original (kinda cutting it to the good parts and putting an awesome song smile.gif)

Knowing how boundary-shattering BF2 was, it's almost guaranteed that this will blow the doors off of any other military shooter out there. I was hooked just on the single player "movie" they released earlier. Multiplayer is going to be amazing and frustrating at the same time, like all BF games. laugh.gif

Also, the tank auto-heal is an ability Engineers can utilize. Whenever they're in a tank (or any vehicle), they will automatically repair it. Just like Medics have been able to heal everybody in whatever vehicle they're in.

Preordered this bastard on day one, limited edition with all the goodies.

Well, hardcore bf guys won't like it, it's got it's pro and con.

Pro - Won't have to be afraid of jumping out to repair and watch some random guy who thinks he's a PRO TANKER steal it and die in a minute.

Con - Tank Battles won't be won by pure tank warfare, it'll be a random RPG to the side, so all that epic fighting will go down as a vehicle kill assist.

Nah, the autorepair is nowhere near fast enough to offset damage from a tank shell. You'll have to leave the skirmish and sit for a minute or two before fully repairing, so if you've got the other tank in pursuit, you're still pretty much screwed.

It's just like Med Kits. You can stand near one and get shot, but you're not going to offset a clip from an assault rifle pelting you. You will still die regardless of the health regen.

They both just delay the inevitable if you're a shitty player that can't learn to choose your battles.
