Alright I know this board has at least a few lurkers from DFW so please post up. I usually play at Cybertown at Firewheel Town Center in Garland. That used to be a pretty hot spot but now there's only a few of us regulars who still go there, and a whole shit load of n00bs... ugh. I've tried checking out a few other locations that I know of but not much luck.

There's Adventure Landing in Dallas, on Coit Rd near the Bush Turnpike, I guess some regs used to go there cuz I saw some pretty good times, but everytime I've gone the place is dead.

Gameworks Grapevine has turned to shit. I've gone a few times before and have been pretty impressed, but today I went and the machine was sooo busted. Left side was unplayable, the brake kept engaging. Right side was workable but with a pretty screwed wheel, like when you turn the wheel a little it's hella tough to hold it steady. I brought all this to the attention of the techs, one guy took a look at it and saw the same things I saw, so hopefully they'll work on fixing it.

I also know of machines at Putt-Putt by The Parks Mall, and at Main Event Fort Worth, but that's pretty far to drive. I'd drop by for sure though if I knew there would be people racing it up.

So that's my question for you folks, where y'all at? Maybe waiting for the Gameworks machine to get fixed? Cuz I know there used to be a crowd there. Or some other location I don't know about? Maybe you guys could drop by Cybertown, that machine is in pretty prime condition. Or Adventure Landing? They take pretty good care of their stuff too.

lol, what a difference three weeks makes.

CT is pretty much shot to hell now. The card reader is broken on the right side, wheels are getting worse, and I hear the machines aren't ever gonna get fixed. Instead they're gonna sell the machines maybe this month. Sure ID4 is on the horizon, but that's gonna be February at the earliest if they get Japanese machines.

Gameworks, on the otherhand, has fixed their machines, and today they were in the best condition I've ever seen them in. I'll be going there more regularly now, especially Saturday afternoons and evenings. I'll probably go there next week, so if anyone wants to race or just chill, hit me up or just show up. =)

Yup, Gameworks is definitely the place. I've been going there regularly lately, mainly Saturday afternoons and nights. The machine's in good shape, got a bit of a crowd of regulars there, it's pretty kickass! It's mainly been time attacking, but maybe if a few more people show up, we can get some battles going!

... okay I'm getting a little tired of talking to the wind here. I seem to be the only person from DFW on this forum, but I'm sure there're some lurkers out there, right?

Update on current status.

Cybertown: looks like Jacky is gone. Dunno if he quit or if he got fired, but apparently they weren't happy with him. From what I understand, they're now having the San Antonio tech come up here like once a week. Both card readers work now, and they were going to work on the pedal and wheel problems this weekend. So hopefully these machines will be fixed up good. Also, Matt tells me they're going to import ID4 and have it here in March, also Wangan 3. This may become the hot spot again.

Gameworks: machine went downhill kinda bad. Problems with pedals on one side, problems with the wheel on other. I talked to the tech though, and they had already ordered the parts for the wheel. Sounds like the machine should be fixed up soon. I haven't heard anything about them getting ID4, but they know ID is popular, plus Gameworks is owned by Sega so... I would think they'd get it.

Adventure Landing still seems pretty dead, which is weird to me considering the machine is still in great shape. I did notice a new name though, "ALEX" driving an Evo4. He has some pretty good times. Also saw his name up at Gameworks. I'd go to this place more often but no one else is ever there, and I'm tired of time attacking.

Alright you lurkers, post the hell up. It's been too damn long since I've had a good battle, and I'm tired of having battle level 31. Who wants to RACE?!

alright about time i find somebody else from the metroplex i go up to gameworks every now and then, basically anytime i go up there during the weekdays cause its half off, haha but yeah ill be up there on spring break im not that great but id love to learn some good lines

That's cool. I usually go there Fridays and Saturdays, with the occasional Thursday night thrown in. Definitely thinking of hitting it up next Thursday night, since it's spring break and all.

I dunno. We did the same thing last year though and there was a pretty decent turnout. I'll try to spread the word around the east Dallas/Garland/Mesquite players.

I have pretty much quit though cause the machines were always worked over good, even after getting fixed. and I know why, it's because there are some people that lose a race or whatever and get mad and start slamming their fists on the wheel and the screen and stomping on the pedals. it's stupid and scary to say the least when you see people like that.

The WMMT machines are usually in pretty good shape though so I have switched over to playing that. I still have my cards for IDAS but just find that WMMT is a bit more fun and generally the people playing aren't total psycho.

I've run into quite a few psychos when playing IDAS up there. But the WMMT players usually seem a bit more relaxed and don't go nuts on the machine if they lose.

yeah i know what people your talking about, i play WMMT sometimes but i just like the feel of ID better, but yeah i know who your talking about i saw a guy get pissed cause he lost against bunta and my friends and I just looked at him funny and he settled down but it does scar you when your concentrating on racing and then all of sudden theres a gigantic boom next to you cause some guy lost and got mad

I saw a guy get pissed off for losing to Keisuke in story mode the first time you race him on akagi there.

I was like WTF YO.. and always I see alot of really shady looking people playing on IDAS. and it's never just one or two guys. it's always like 4-5 guys and only like 1 guy is playing and the others are just like hanging around him because apparently they all have to stay at the same game even though there are other games right next to it..

I just don't like going into a group of people like that when they are acting shady or freaking out.

I've never had that problem with WMMT and the WMMT machines are always in good shape when I go. I have only once had a problem on the WMMT machines and it was that the steering was slightly to the right so I had to hold the wheel to the left just a tiny bit throughout the races or else the car would just make a long slow turn to the right. it did slow me down but I wasn't too worried about it.

Not sure if I'm going this Thursday or next. I think most people are having spring break next week, so I'm thinking of going next week instead since there'll probably be a better turnout.

Yup I was there during spring break. I was splitting my time between Initial D and DDR, with a smattering of Indy 500.

You may remember me as the one using a S14K that day.

I'll be there tomorrow, and a few other Initial D vets may be there as well. It may be pretty kickass. Oh yeah, and the Sil80 will be in action tomorrow. Come on out y'all!

I haven't played in months.. I actually have money on my card and should come play some time. I've been debating coming up during the half price afternoon hours.

Need to put the grill back on my car though.

luckily it's cheaper to own a real car and find twisty roads to drive than it is to play arcade games. lol.

I've been wanting to work on my R34 on WMMT though.. well.. one of my R34's .. I have two..

May come up sometime in the next week or so.

although, I usually go during the day when there is not alot of people so that it's not crowded and I can play non-stop. or go between 4-7 and get that half price going and play double the games.

whoo thursday night was fun

got my nur R34 up to 600 hp and one block short of finishing the handling tuning. also started a R32 gt-r, and did some 10 outrun with my gemballa and got a discard from it so now I can make more gemballas.

and played a bit of initial d when the wmmt machines had like 10 people around and you had to wait like half an hour to get a seat. sucked bad but oh well.

Sometimes I even wonder about Gameworks. Like when they did away with half price happy hour, I wonder if they were losing money on that.

Then again, $2.60

well it used to only be half price on tuesday.. then it was all week..

they probably did away with it because they had problems.. I used to see kids skipping school to come in and play. (although they can't have skipped too much since it starts at four but I guess the last class or so).

and you get machine hogs. there are those people that will sit down and not let anyone else play until they are ready. like on thursday night there was a guy in there who would sit down and play like 6-7 games of max tune in a row while there was 4 people waiting to play. and the other machine everyone was playing one game then getting up unless no one was wanting to sit down. I understand he wanted to get his car tuned up, but damn dude, so does everyone else.

Thats when u tell him to get his ass up, if u stay silent they'll keep going. When u tell them, they might not listen, but then every1 would know hes a prick and becomes the public enemy. Trust me, lots of people hate being public enemies. I've done this to a lot of people, and so far, every1 i told listens (then again, having 270 lb. 5-10 appreance does help) If he doesnt listen, just wait until he finally gets off, hav whoever played after him get off the machine on the side hes waiting to block him and hav some1 else sit on the machine and ignore his ass if he complains.

Speedzone doesn't take care of their machines worth shit. Well no one around here ever has really. Gameworks is just the one usually not as bad, hehe. So yeah, come to Gameworks on a Thursday night and you'll probably see a few of us playing. Might get lucky on a Saturday night but less likely.

Normal price is 15 credits, $1 is 10 credits but you get bonus credits for buying like $10 or more. For $25 you get 450 credits, so it's not too bad. But Thursday nights are even much better, cuz for $10 you get unlimited play from 7pm until they close, which for the summer they close at midnight. So 5 hours for $10, game on.

No $35 all day pass for us, but I'd probably never drop that much money at once even if it was for an all day. I usually go in the evenings, rarely all day.

lol i've been playing wangan like twice a week for i dont know how many weeks now... a while. You head up there any Thursday night from 7pm till closing and you'll find a nice crowd. And I'm usually also there Saturdays from like 5 till whenever. I'm always looking for good challenges. Wangan, Initial D, Outrun2, Indy 500, Mario Kart, whatever.

lol.. well I my car runs like shit right now since the accident and I to stop I have to use the brake pedal and apply some braking with the E-brake. because if I push the brake pedal all the way in it locks up the wheels and if I apply more than about 1/4 braking with it, it starts to knock and the car pulls hard to the right.

needless to say I've only driven the car twice since this started and only short distances. I really need to get it into the shop but don't have the spare cash right now.

so we'll see. but I don't come up there quite as much as you guys, got college and other shit to deal with and not alot of money to spare.

This may disappoint u, but MT3's game play is not much different then MT2. Upside to this, u can transfer ur car from MT2 to MT3 along with all the tunes, unless u want a new car. This newest and most badass feature of MT3, which im sure u guys are gonna love, the game can create ghost players which runs a copy of the person's TA (i think, not really sure about the details there) and u can battle against that ghost. but besides this ghost feature, i dont see anything new with MT3.

On ID4 over here, theres lots of people that likes to battle, but hardly gets a chance cuz it takes such a damn long time to read the card's data. and for whatever freakin reasons, people love racing Iro(imo, the most BS course to race on, try doing this when u guys get AS4, use a stock car, race against Kai or Kyle (Kyouichi), just gas and steer, dont let go, dont brake, u'll see what i mean) just recently, i raced a guy that does post on these forums(well-known, too, send me a PM if u want to know who it is) who only runs Iro, he took me to reverse and i was getting my ass kicked(1st time ever, running Iro rev) until the last turn where he steer so hard he got stuck on the rail and i just passed him. whats funny was, we had a 2nd race later that night, i chose the course(tsukuba OB) and he turns to his friend and does the fish-reeling motion cuz i was driving a S2K. First, Trueno is only about 1-2 secs slower. second, DONT FREAKIN TURN ON UR ACCEPT CHALLENGERS IF U DONT EXPECT TO RACE WITH A HANDICAP! I beat him by about 200m(which is more then 1-2 secs) after the race, he starts TAing myogi, and my friend who drives the same car TAs the same course, only on wet, and my friend still beat his time.

Man I was killing MT2 last night. Finally finished an 815 car, a Z31. Then I used it and just murdered the NBL CW record. Umah... it'll prolly be beaten by Chip the next time I go up there lol, but for now I'm ridin high.

yeah i think thats about right, haha. i tried the Evo8 for a few times, last time i tried i lost on stage 40 so i was like "screw it" and just continued tuning it. Then I had the idea of the Z31 cuz no one else has one around here. I knew I got better so I wanted to try it. I tried a couple times but kept losing it somewhere in the second 20, then finally I got past stage 40 and was cruisin... until stage 75 and Oki pwned me by "0m"... grrrrr. Thought I'd try it one more time... finally got it. I think it might've been the 7th attempt, lol. Lucky number 7.

It's all good, I can't win them all. Gotta let you win sometimes so you'll still race me. I learned that in Initial D... I got too good.

EDIT: just got back from Gameworks tonight. I saw a couple guys playing who were actually pretty decent so I sat down with my Roadster and just messed around a bit. I was TAing Akagi and was messing up on purpose so they'd see that and race me.

So anyway, first two races were both on Akagi DH, I won both fairly comfortably with a couple horrible runs. So the first guy rechallenged with his full tuned DC2 (my Roadster is like 600k btw), and took me to Happo OB. I was so honored.

I made the mistake though of challenging him again and taking the race less than seriously, took him to Happo IB with my Capp and I still lost. I should've just waited for one of them to race Evos again, whip out my Evo5 and take them to snow. DAMN that would've been so good. Ahh the road not taken... oh well.

Went tonight and WTF WHERE WAS EVERYONE?!

It was like me and two other guys the whole night. granted they were out of cards, so we all three of us were like playing until we had to renew then switching cars.

they left about 11:30 but i kept playing until midnight. but around 11:45 the only other guy left in the building came over and started playing also, he was playing as guest and his girlfriend was like walking around and then would sit down somewhere like she wanted to leave. lulz.

so I tried out the MC gemballa, it's nice but I was really rusty on the gemballas physics and sucked at it so I put it away to level my R32 some more... leveled it up as far as possible until it needed renewing, then got out my R34 nur and leveled it up some.

then real life wangan'd against a dodge magnum on the way home. two highways merged and he was on one and I was on the other and I was doing about 75 and he was doing about 65-70 and then next thing I know he comes flying up so I layed it down and we zoomed down the highway for a few miles until it split again and I went one way and he went the other. of course I was ahead by about 15 cars but mostly because he got stuck behind a slow car for a while.

Ahhhh man the one Thursday I miss, you show up, lol. Were you looking to battle? Most of the people just tune up and time attack but I'm always up for a battle. Surprised there weren't more people though. Even with most of the kiddies not there cuz of it being a school night, there's still been like 5 of us almost every Thursday night. Some of them usually show up early though, so maybe they saw the machine was out of cards and decided not to bother. Oh well.

Hopefully they'll have cards by next Thursday cuz I'll probably make it there next time.

Time for a revival! Err, even though the ID scene here is dead, lol. Aight so as far as I know, ID4 and MT3 both have yet to make it to Dallas. However, I've heard Houston and San Antonio have ID4. I'm seriously thinking road trip, and if any of y'all know some of the other vets like Will and Greg, they're considering it too. Most likely we'll hit up Cyberzone in San Antonio, unless if anyone wants Houston, we're not 100% set on a spot yet. Who's with us?

Also, if anyone still wants to play ID3, I do know that Adventure Landing still has it, and the machine is still in good working order. Went there today after work and got my game on. Anyone else wanna get their game on?

So Gameworks is the only place that has ID close to dallas huh. I haven't made it out there in a while, so I was wondering if they had card readers in the machines. Last time I was addicted was when they had machines at Richardson square mall.

Adventure Landing also has Initial D still, but no one plays it anymore. We have MT3 at Gameworks now so it gets a lot of play. You'll find most of the regulars at Gameworks Thursday nights, they still have $10 buck Thursdays from 7 to midnight.

dk369 you talk pretty big considering you're batting under 500.

i just dont understand san antonio. its like we have the spurs and the silver stars but y dont we have a football team. i get so annoyed

I'm gonna try.. especially since gameworks ran out of max tune cards.

but ace and cj are gonna be mad when they find out I beat all their cars with a 800hp/dg supra using aero set B.. lulz.. that thing is slow as a brick and I still beat them with their 800hp/d and 820hp/dg cars. I'm starting to like that stupid supra though. the rx-7 is good too but can't renew it at the moment to finish tuning it. got it to 60 stages unshaded before it came up for renewal.

Gameworks really needs to plan ahead better to make sure they don't run out of cards, heh. Oh well, maybe they'll let us put some old discards in there so we can renew.

maybe they'll just order some more cards.. or maybe retards noobs won't put 2 credits in, make a card, then get up and walk off because they don't know about the game and just kept clicking yes until they got to drive and thought the game sucked because level 1 is slow and straight.

and maybe they will get IDASV4 >.< but not likely

Hey man, if the people want ID4, they'll get it. Afterall they got MT3 cuz the people wanted it. Go to Gameworks.com and there should be a "contact us" section. Write to them and let them know we want ID4. I've done my part.

i see..... i know that dallas took 2 of our times. but i do know one thing. racing me in the night time would be a bad thing on iro. cuz the guy with the card name 71000 or something like that has meet me on a 1 to 1 basis and he has seen 1st hand what i do on myogi. though im starting to move away from racing without lights. its sad though. but hey what can u do when u get bored as hell when u dont have anybody to race. i would like to meet some of you dallas racers sometime so that way i could have a friendly race with you considering that im going to slowly stop playing ID4

Gametown closed... lol. ID4's short stint in Dallas was sweet, but is now over. Oh well who knows, maybe Gameworks will still get it... haha yeah right. I guess a guest appearance in Austin or San Antonio is in my near future. Or I might just concentrate on Extreme Stage now.

Yeah I know Iro I'm just not any good at it in ID4, haha.

It doesn't matter much though, I have Extreme Stage at home so I'm not making any trips for ID4 anytime soon. I went to Gameworks yesterday and played MT3 for the first time in a while. That game is still fun and people still play so I think I'll get back into that again.

The guy you wanna get in touch with is Greg (GGawaran). He was the best in Dallas at ID4, and he's also probably the most likely to hit up SA, considering he worked at GameTown up here and knows Jason and Matt.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but the official word from Gameworks employees is they might be getting Initial D 4. Apparently it's on the list of games they want to get, and it depends on how well Gameworks does in the immediate future as to if they'll get it. Of course with ID5 out now... they kinda late, hehe. But whatever, I'll still play it.

Maximum Tune 3DX is on this list as well.

Any DFW posters still around? If not... I guess this thread will have to die again. Oh well, it was a nice run for a while. GG.

I usually play at Gameworks, at Grapevine Mills Mall. I don't think anyone around here has ID4 but they do have Maximum Tune 3. If you head up there on a Saturday night you'll probably find a good crowd playing.

They have Initial D 3 but it's pretty broken, lol. For that the best location is probably Adventure Landing in Dallas. It's on Coit Road close to the George Bush Turnpike.

I dunno if they have a set time frame to restock them. They almost always have cards, and if you ever find the machines without cards just let an employee know, they'll restock them right then.

I'm going to Main Event Lewisville either tomorrow or Friday.

I gotta go before work though, I work swing shift. So I'll show up when they open at 11am. Or maybe I'll go Saturday morning but I'll be outta town in the afternoon.

well,check this
last time my bf was at gameworks(over SB),he met a guy who let him use his 300ZX card.he asked if he had played DX yet,and he said a place in lewisville had it.
another day while me and him were at main event fort worth,the IDV3 cab had to be restarted.while we waited,we talked about maxi tune.he named off places that had it(like grapevine and lewisville.).he didnt know which version each place had,but when he said lewisville,i thought of what the guy at gameworks told my bf
idk if its confirmed,but theres a pretty good chance
and,dont get your hopes up on a tuning card for DX.main event usually never buys cards for machines like that.once theyre gone,theyre gone
its like that with the V3 cabs

But the Initial D scene here is long dead...

I've been missing it a lot lately, so much that I dusted off my copy of Extreme Stage and been playing that. Still a lot of fun!

So anyway, seems that a decent ID machine doesn't exist anywhere in the area anymore. Shoot, I'd road trip it if I found out some place in like Houston or San Antonio has 6 or even 5. Anyone know?

J, As of this moment, only Round 1 in SoCal has 6 right now. Golfland in Norcal is suppose to get it, but no1 confirmed if the machines are up and running. If ur making a roadtrip, have deep pockets, cuz most likely its gonna cost well over a hundred to bucks to get a FS(its called FULL SPEC now, no longer TUNE) car.(7 bucks for card, 1 buck per play) Greg got his 86 FSed last time he came visit, and Will is gonna come down October. Might want to make the trip soon, as we still haven't seen a good Sil80 driver here yet even though its a decent car.

I have been looking for any signs of life in DFW lately. All I have left is V2 at the Allen movie theaters. Anywhere me and my bro can play V3 or higher. I'm sure willing to make a road trip. Still have my cards from before adventure landing sold theirs.

I think Tilt at the Galleria in Houston still has V4. I was there last year and they had it, both machines were in pretty good condition. I heard Planet Zero in Houston was also supposed to get V5 but I don't know whatever happened to that and their website shows coming soon on that one and they never pick up their phones.

The Round 1 in the Parks Mall in Arlington, TX just opened up a week ago.

Four IDAS8∞ cabinets!! They're not online, but it's still Initial D!

I was just there yesterday. It can be a bit crowded, but everyone is friendly.

Shout out to the super clean panda Corolla hatch we saw roll through the parking garage. Complete with yellow fog lights, Watanabes, and tofu decal on the door! You've got to be a member here, right? Post up more pics!

Hate to break it to you but we cannot access D.Net in the states. The machines themselves need to be online before we can even access the D.Net servers.

It's the new way SEGA is doing things and since I assume the machines are Japanese...we are never going to get online, these machines aren't technically supposed to be here.

Since it seems there's at least a couple DFW goers here, when is there normally a bunch of people playing? I try to go every other weekend (I'm 40 minutes away or I'd go more) and whenever I'm there, it's pretty much barren. I've been going since March and it really used to be way busier before. I am normally there before the 330 maintenance period so maybe people just show up for night caps.

Is anyone still going to round1 to play or has the lack of Sega net made the interest taper off?

Anyone still play? I've been playing at Grapevine lately, mainly just doing Infinityside. Pretty much stopped doing any time attacks cuz the machine records are just ridiculously fast. I've asked if they would clear the records so us locals can fight for the top times and they were like lol nope. So, oh well.
