Willing to throw 5's on the blunt your smoking. Group: Advanced Members Posts: 2,659 Member No.: 15,519 Joined: Jan 21st 2006 Location: Hudson, MA | Ok, so by now most of you know that i own a 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo, if you don't then look at the sig. I simply love this car, for a 1000 dollars, its been running minta and so far in a 2 year run i only but in 400 dollars worth of repairs. The amount of money the car made me pays for a whole fleet of taxis of them. The handling is very balanced for a front wheel drive and most importantly the power the 2.3 5 cyl turbo produces along with torque is amazing. This car is such a sleeper. Unfortunately, Volvo in North America only offered this car with a 4spd Automagic with O/D Econ, Sport, and winter modes. Its a pretty strong unit solid for 300 whp, but after 270k miles of shannans it gave out on me completely. It was expected, But with the motor putting 180 or above in compression across all 5 this car wasn't dead for me (and i can't afford another one ) So i decided to be bold and do what most Volvo rats are doing these days. Along with that, i can run a better modified map than the 850R or T5-R. This guy on volvospeed is doing tunes for our cars and people seem to love it, with progressive and responsive boost delivery, no spiking, good AFRs etc. |

Any fabrication, pound to fit paint to match, or genaral f**ked-upary as I predicted? I can't tell, just 'cuz you were swearing up a storm means nothing, that's typical for any major tranny work. I pesonally like to learn a few good swear words in the language the car was engineered in, I know many German and English (but oddly no Japanese, I'll have to work on that) swears/curses/offensive gestures. |

Volvo made these cars so the body would accept the 5 speed or the auto reguardless to keep assembly costs lower or not to have separate lines for each models, I only had to cut some wires that werent needed anymore and jump the PNP switch so the car starts. What really got me cursing is the fact that some parts like every engine mount needed to be replaced along with the tie rods and control arms, might as well do it since the subframe was dropped you know? Then when i went to fill up the coolant, my heater core coupler peice that sits in the firewall was broken so i looped it and ran it with no heat for about a week. Note to self for next time when you plan on doing something major like a tranny, add another 250-500 dollars to the final count lol. The tranny only had 110k on it, from a 01 model (mines a 94) and it shifts like butter, running royal purple in her. The clutch grabs and holds nice too, its a little harsh to engage since its not full faced like the OEM unit and it took me a good 2 days to get it good. Ran into 2 situations where i thought the car was in 1st when it was in 3rd lol, the shifter can be tricky but that didnt happen again. |

Most of the regulars in this section do, which is why the first rule at the top exists. Me posting camera test vids of 30-80 pulls in a 55 zone is one thing, crossing the center line on blind corners is a different story entirely. If people must post videos of spirited driving, safety is everything, you can be safe and still have fun. | ||

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | I've altered the rules to add the (somehow missing) illegal racing vid ban. Spirited is one thing, but dangerous driving is a serious problem. That said, if you're not doing something where a cop would pull you over immediately, it should be okay. For best results, consult with your friendly neighborhood mod via PM to determine if it's decent enough to post. If it gets the mod seal of approval, you're golden. Go though the proper chain of communication, and everybody's happy. |
