161 wasn't mediocre... It had some really good songs... Like Hot Hot, Yellow Butterfly, HI HI MAZINGA (I am starting to agree Tessou that Bombers/Farina is awesome), and (gonna get you like a...) Space Invader...

Either way many thanks to zomg for finding this torrent...

what i mean is they dont sound like super eurobeat anymore. just slightly sped-up dancemania songs. i dont like the direction SEB has been taking in the 160s so far, and wish the songs had the power and energy of previous generations.

meh, I'm not too impressed with this album. I, too, don't like where SEB is heading. It's like they're slowing the beat down or something. Just doesnt sound like the old school Eurobeats we've grown to love.

True true... I like both the old school and the new school so I don't mind the direction change... I am just happy that "So Fragile" is was on this album...

Sounds way better than the 150-era SEBs. If something was off from the "typical" SEB sound, they were. At least to me.

161 was great, this one is even better in my opinion.

I'm not really sure how I feel about the direction things are taking. The 130s and 140s were great, and the 150s and 160s have had some pretty good songs, but I think most fans want "Initial D" style songs, which were the 70s through the 90s....

I don't mind these "non-ID" songs, but at the same time, if enough fans do, people are going to stop supporting the labels...

You need to note that the main "fanbase" of eurobeat isn't the same as the fanbase of Initial D.

The most popular eurobeat album series was Euromach, at least according to my info... and those albums had quite energetic and happy eurobeat songs.

The "Initial D style" eurobeat songs are usually great, and the reason we call them "Initial D style" is probably because the songs just are featured in the anime. They just pick the typical "powerful"/speedy songs smile.gif

I hadn't even seen a single ep of the anime when I first heard eurobeat.

What the current "scheme" in the eurobeat-business is, is that they're evolving and trying new different styles. This is what I hear from my sources at least.
