Was doing the same, it's not that uncommon.

But for Kiro, as posted already, I would say just practice getting in motion first, then uphill starts. Both of those are more rudimentary skills of driving a manual car than heel and toeing is. Even rev matching comes before heel and toe.

What's the purpose of rev matching?

Puts less strain on the clutch and motor, and makes the gear change smoother. Effectively, it upsets the car's balance less.

It also reduces wear on the syncro's.

And almost broke the gear lever when I tried to put it in reverse.

I did that same thing recently. My mom's minivan. The hilarious part wasn't the phantom clutches, it was that I'd punch the gas when starting from a standstill. My car makes very little torque below 1500rpm, so starting from a stop always involves extra throttle.

Yeah, the first couple starts from lights were a bit jerky for the same reason.

I was thinking about offering some advice, but I decided that this AE86 owner from Japan can teach a lot more than I can.

I'm sure Floh will think otherwise . And while he's more than entitled to his opinion; I like being able to be a fan of all motorsports. Even the weird ones.

As far as the goofy video of him shifting in the car without any of the stuff in it, I used to do that all the time (albeit not being goofy) practicing in various chassis trying to imagine Arizona's various raceways in my head and then thinking about how much time I could save by doing one thing or the other. It's a fun game to play if you know how your car reacts pretty well.

Also helps reinforce many muscle memory actions.

Being relatively green, I gotta admit that being able to drive stick as smooth as an automatic feels great. Also knowing that you can unleash the car to any degree at any given time is addicting.

I kinda miss driving a manual. I learned from driving all sorts of cars: VW VR6 (probably the most fun I've driven), a jetta, 2006 SI, a Ford Focus... been a while though. But it took me a while to learn because I was learning on so many different cars. But driving the FA5 got me addicted to V-tec... hehe...

blah stick shift is a thing of the past, the new BMW's new SMG is sooooo smooth plus you can pretend you're a F1 driver when you want to have fun.

lol you make it sound like anyone can buy a BMW something that fancy you wont see in some Honda civic or Toyota.

That would be much easier but at the same time it would seem boring.

I drive a stick Im use to it.

Automatic just puts me to sleep I need to be doing something when I drive. Something to keep me alert. Than just pushing the gas and break.

I actually really liked the old SMG. It got bad press because it wasn't a semi-automatic, nor did it behave like one. It was a computer controlled manual. If you drive it like a manual, then it reacts exactly like a proper SMG in a race car.
