So from this thread seems it's not worth watching, just rehashing or sth?

.... will watch anyway! What a surprise, I though the Final Stage was IT, and goodbye Initial D...
Well, hello again!

Yeah, you really should watch it. It's excellent as far as animation goes, music's also great... dun mind us, we're just bitching about the plot-rehash. ^__^

Uh, the animation was the weakest aspect. Framerate issues aplenty.

I wonder if the frame rate thing makes sense though? Its during the races right? So during a fast race it'd be hard to see kind of...

FPS doesn't matter to much. Its the shots, camera direction, and animation that should matter the most.

Agree, and "physics"... I thought e.g. in 5th Stage physics was lesser than in 4th, more cartoon like, less real. Wonder, how it's here..

Will the trilogy end differently than series? They didn't have a battle, Takumi vs. Keiske, afterall. Expected it most, not some little boy.

I was really concerned about the framerate issue brought up; so I purchased the Blue Ray edition of the film, and did a side by side comparison. There definitely does seem to be a problem with the encoding. I would recommend to wait until December, when Funimation just announced on Animu Meow Network, they'll be releasing the Dub-Only version of the 1st movie with new Special FX and a compretely revamped soundtrack by DJ Milky Original Eurobeat. That definitely seems like the positive way to go. Here's some screen shots of the abounding framerate issues: (Dial-Up Friendly)

Yeah, unless I am mistaken, aren't countries like Canada, the U.S., Britain, France, Germany and others in Europe considered part of the "Western world"?

At least judging by the entry on Wikipedia, it seems to be.

QUOTE (Wikipedia)
From a cultural and sociological approach the Western world is defined as including all cultures that are directly derived from and influenced by European cultures, i.e. western Europe (e.g. France, Ireland, United Kingdom, Belgium), central Europe (e.g. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland), northern Europe (e.g. Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland), southeastern Europe (e.g. Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania) and southern (or southwestern) Europe (e.g. Spain, Italy, Portugal, Malta), eastern Europe (e.g. Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova); in the Americas (e.g. Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela), South Africa and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand). Together these countries constitute Western society.

I'm sure hundreds of years of isolationism helped that along brilliantly.
