| Please note that this is incomplete Ok here goes What is Initial D: Extreme Stage? Initial D: Extreme Stage (ID:ES or IDES for short) is a game for the Playstation 3 developed and published by Sega and released on July 2008. I've heard theres two versions, is this true? Technically yes, it is. Sega released two identical versions, minus a few features, the Asian version included an English manual but no network mode, whereas the Japanese version has no English manual but has included all features, including network play. What controllers are compatible with this game? -Sixxaxis Controller -Dualshock 3 -Logitech Driving force -Logitech Driving force pro -Logitech Driving force pro GT -Logitech G25 Can I use the D-pad rather than the 'joystick'? No. What are the options on the menu? -Legend of the Streets (LotS): the main "feature of the game, race against characters from the manga/anime -Time Attack: Race against the clock and see if you can be the fastest on the hill! -Replay: Watch any replays ypu may have saved during LoTS or Time Attack (TA) or any you may have downloaded from Sega's server (JP version only) -Network Play (JP verson only): Race against someone from the other side of the world or against your friends in ranked or player matches. -Option: Change settings you want in the game, from the volume, steering sensitivity, drifting sensitivity and difficulty. Does *Insert Steering wheel controller here* Support 900 degree rotation? Yes and no. yes, you can rotate the wheel quite a lot but with the car steering a lot without having to roatate much you probably won't need to. Does network play work outside of Japan? While the list you see above are the cars in the game, Sega has confirmed that on the 24th of July, they will be releasing the RX-8, Altezza and the Mazda Roadster as downloadable add-on cars for free via the Japanese PSN store. You must have a Japanese PSN account to download the patch, but once it's installed you will be able to access the cars in-game via your US/EU accounts (if you don't use a JP account to play). How do I download and use the DLC cars? 1.) Log into your Japanese PSN. If you don't have one, make one. 2.) Add the DLC to your cart. 3.) It will automatically be added to IDES. You can check this by going to PSN->Account Management->Cart->Services. 4.) Load IDES in whatever PSN you use to play IDES normally. 5.) When you first go into Network mode, you'll be asked if you want to apply the patch. Say yes, obviously. It will automatically be applied. 6.) The next time you add a car to your garage or create a new character, you will have the three new cars available. What music tracks have they added to IDES? | Hey i have a question the car paint shop does not have any new colors it just lets you change from the original options but in a video of the japanese arcade there was a green ae86 but that is not a color that you can paint the car is there any way to get more paint i really want a black s13 silvia |

| yes it happend to me when i was d2 a jerk of ss played against me and i didn´t notice because he let me to choose first until it the race i saw the big aura and the ss ramk so i end up loosing and form d2 i was downgrade to d3 but if you win the next race you obtain again your rank,but if you loose again your bar lowers down |

| isn't it totally random when they pair you up with someone in rank mode? The rank SS probably didn't know you were a d3 or w/e. Besides, I played against a ss rank (when I was a rank d2) who had 170+ wins and 1 lose: not fun AT ALL. I think the matching/pairing of players in ranked mode needs to be fixed, that's quite a gap if you know what I mean |

oooo it doesnt ok.... cause after the 1.5 patch on arcade stage 4 i basically quit initial d. so im going to get this game later this week. im a huge iro freak...got any tips on how to play it defferently.... the best time i had before the patch was around 2.42.xxx. and i have a logitic g25 steering wheel. |

| whats your card name? i've checked the US East on 1.2 and Apple has the top time which she has already started playing IDES. and virus has the US West 1.2 Iro DH Dry record as well, which he will start playing soon. anyways, you should watch Tokui East Coast's driver Billy. he runs Iro DH Dry at 2'43, i'm stuck at 2'44. i'm pretty sure there are more players with low times as well, but some people might be shy when it comes to TA times. |

| now its just brake, turn, accel. you can try to pc but the effects aren't there. trust me if you played IDAS4 alot you shouldn't have a problem readjusting to the change is all. |

you still wallrape, when cjb said 'brake control and learn how to corner without smacking into the walls' he means swinging out and hitting the outside wall on exit, but you still use wallrape on the inside easiest way to do it is rape early and brake like the walls not there |

| i actually have a question about members who drive a FC3S, 180SX or a EVO9. for those who drive these cars, do they have a higher top end then lets say the capp. on iro in 4th the capp maxs out at 146 while a FT 34 can max out at 147. i finished my 86T and im looking to start 2 new cars. edit. i have another question, people who are ranked SS, when you get these PP points or whatever, does your aura change colors? |

hi guys just wondering how do u distinguish between the 2 versions of extreme stage at a glance? all i can tell from the 2 copies is that the online version comes without a english manual but wouldnt it be hard to tell from an online shop that only displays the pic and a noob discription  also has anyone imported their game? i cant find a online version of the game in retail shops or via trademe in my country so if anyone can provide me with a link to buy the game from abroad let me know!  |

| This I can help you on. On the front of the case, the only difference between the two versions is that the Asia version does not have the CERO rating on the bottom left corner. Japan Version  Asia Version (note the lack of a CERO rating)  On the back, you will see the words FOR ASIA ONLY above the barcode in the bottom right corner. This would say FOR JAPAN ONLY on the JP version. Also on the back, there won't be any data referring to the Playstation Network under the Dolby Digital logo. This information is only present on the JP version. If you understand Japanese at all, you will also notice that under the "Players" part of the game information chart on the back, it will say "1 player (Online Players 1-2)". It only says 1 player on the Asia version. |

| ok im new to da forums and ya same..i played IDA4 1.5 and coz im busy past few months i have no time to care the game until now when i free i checked the site and OMG IDES out. and ya so what im gonna ask is: -what happens like when im playing network battle and suddenly me or the opponent disconnect? who wins and who loses? if the loser is will it count himself lost or uncount? -we all play online games here normally...lets say someone's connection is like laggy, what stupid thing can u see in the game? i mean like car suddenly jump infront or stop at the middle of the road or something like that... -G25 steering got how many degree turn? and which steering is the most alike arcade mode steering if G25 not? |

| 1.If somebody disconnects, the you can keep on playing and get an alert on-screen telling you that your opponent disconnected. If you finish the race, it counts as a win to you... No idea if it counts as a loss to the other guy though, since I've never tried forcefully disconnecting. 2. Car movement appears "choppy" when someone is lagging. Common symptoms of lag: -Opponent car teleports short distances and moves erratically or strangely. For example, let's say you're tailing behind and you change lane to overtake. For a few seconds it looks like you might get through but suddenly the opponent's car teleports right in front of you. -Race sometime starts without you if you're lagged. (this has happened to me and at least one other person on the forum) -unintentional disconnections. -Game screen freezes for an instant and then skips ahead a few frames. This happens only occasionally, but can cost you a win when it happens at a critical moment. 3. G25 steering wheel can be turned 900 degrees (450 to left and 450 to right when centered), but you don't need to turn it all the way to get your maximum turning angle. Turning the wheel roughly 100 degrees either way is equivalent to locking the wheel in the arcade. Turning the wheel any further than that is just a waste of time. I haven't tried on other wheels, but I'm pretty sure the steering is the same. Also, the clutch doesn't work, but the h-shifter does. Doesn't really do much good though.  |

| extreme stage seems to have a clearer picture than idas4 though. And it seems to have fixed a few graphical glitches that are present in id4. |

| damn. I think there was no difference. I know there was a difference in Ver.3 for choosing twin turbo and single but IDES only allows me to do twin turbo and lets me choose the roll cage..makes no sense |

Hey guys, how are you?  I'm a new member of the forum and I've been "trying" to play Initial D since I moved to Canada and found an arcade machine on metrotown (don't know if someone here is from vancouver, but yeah). I said "trying" because either on the arcade version and on the PS3 version I'm having a couple of problems improving my skills. I feel that I got to a point where I really need to ask someone that plays well how to improve, because something I'm doing in the game is wrong XD So basically my question is, probably one that every newbie does, how can I improve? How do you guys make turns so that you don't lose speed and so on. I've seen a couple of videos and sometimes I see people shifting down two gears at once, but when I try I lose to much speed and sometime it isn't worth. I've read people saying to use AND don't use breaks, just control your car based on shifts and so on :| What I've been doing is, getting closer to a hairpin I do a hard turn and shift down on gear and then getting past the middle of the hairpin I shift up the gear, but sometimes I slide too much :| Well, what you guys do to improve? | Hi! Welcome to the forums! These tips will hold for Extreme Stage and IDAS 4 1.5: With exception to Lake Akina, All courses require a bit of braking before you enter certain turns. How hard/long depends on the turn. If you fail to do so, the game punishes you by stalling your acceleration and making you car slide and lose traction. If you're not using the brakes, you'll probably notice that at the start of the race your car handles and accelerates quite well, and then as you enter certain turns you suddenly lose control of the car. To prevent this from happening, hit the brakes before entering such turns. Usually a quick tap should suffice, after which you can floor the accelerator again. If you find that it's still happening after tapping the brakes, then on subsequent runs you should try braking a bit earlier, a bit longer, or both. (Yes I know, the game physics suck) General tips for improving: 1. Figure out and memorize which turns you need to brake for, and for how long. 2. Use an in-in-out racing line. Generally you should try to take the shortest path possible from the start of the race to the finish so as to minimize the distance you need to travel. There are times when you might need to take turns with an out-in-out line to get a better exit speed, but you should note that most turns in ID:ES can be taken just as fast with an in-in-out line. 3. When in doubt, watch time attack replays to help you figure out what the pros are doing. (Where they're braking, what line they're using, etc.) 4. Practice. A lot. |

| getting good at any arcade driving games require practice and muscle memories to become naturally fast IMO playing Extreme Stage only helps your foot works for IDAS4 1.5 In terms of gaining the muscle memories in steering, you have to play in the arcade which supports more than 90 degree turn opposing to playing with any supported wheels at home and if you're playing with a controller, you're at most getting familiar with the courses and lines to take...muscle memory skill wise...it's apples and oranges |

| actually there is a way to use the d-pad,if you conect a usb to psx(a pc gadget to play with a playstation 2 controller) in the first slot,i played myself that way |
