New interesting label appeared on February 2016

I almost resigned from my "mission" to share (sometimes rather to enforce) the memories of 80s and 90s decades to the generation of fans, which treat these times as just the past and curiosity once for a while.

I'm the one in my country, who is seriously interested old-school Eurobeat. But are also and always were another people with the deep passion, which again began to give a proper place for Italo Disco.

Probably left a few of us, which see the value of Italo Disco, if we compare all the currect music anywhere. 25th and 30th anniversaries are only once, unfortunately japanese interpretation of the italian dance music long time ago lost any rules and sense for the rest of the world and former fans. "Crazy" number of the neverending series resulted, that such occasions haven't any value, because of just not equal the number of CDs.

That all, maybe contracts, together with even the widely deserved for the italian dance music, founders of Eurobeat as well, resulted in stuck on this asian market by them. I believed, but I'm not sure now, whether in the near future someone of old Eurobeat team, having long rich career, will wake up and will release really anniversary, own, not Avex Trax record.

For these old soul fans, which have never fallen into the hole of closed japanese world, full of Initial D, Anime and SEB countless number of records, which many long ago ceased to count, I suggest to check this link.

https://www.facebook.com/analoglanguage

Two first Radiorama original italian albums soon will see the light in exclusive versions, and you will can see Laurent Gelmetti's great engagement and fame from the past as the studio engineer. The same he really gained in the Italo Disco and early Eurobeat world, like Mauro Farina, Clara Moroni, Giancarlo Pasquini and some others. It's still worthwhile to do such projects, because 80s and 90s aren't called without reason the best times for the greatest artists, started and gained most of all, under big record companies, also in Italo Disco and "italian" Eurobeat yet.

I encourage to follow this label !

Of course it's not my idea (see the 3rd paragraph). But the idea comes from Poland again, like several series already, where the creators always were focused on anniversary releases, high quality sound mastering and interviews inside.

Only CDs and no vinyl with a name like that? No thanks then. I already own The Legend on vinyl and will try to get the other two albums on vinyl too.

I can't imagine the cost of the vinyl album by Radiorama (licenses from ZYX or SAIFAM ?)...

New vinyl (single) costs 20 euros, that was with Savage "Only You" 30th anniversary version by Flashback label.

These three first CD albums are really rare and forgotten, be prepare for 50-100 euros per one ! Or buy a russian fake dry.gif

So why not CD re-edition, including the interview and remastered sound like from heaven rolleyes.gif ?!

I usually do everything to get a first the oldest version of some CD, any rare, but never found Radiorama german CD albums from 1987 "The 2nd Album" and 1988, a bit delayed "Desires And Vampires" in this format. "The Legend" was my first japanese CD ever, but honestly I'm not convinced to treat those ones songs as a "legend" music by Mauro Farina. So for me totally enough is that japanese CD album from 1988.

I don't trust remasters until I listened to them. The I Love Disco Diamonds series for example is total crap in terms of sound. Tried to listen to it in the car but there are some frequencies that simply hurt. Never experienced that with the original masterings from the vinyls.

I know vinyls can be expensive but it's the only format I support so even if I have to wait longer and have to listen to mp3 until then.

I don't know what can I recommend you to read about the mastering quality made by the owner of Analog Language.

If you heard about Pokorny Music Solution, a label in Germany established by a polish man, which released several 12'' single collections in CD format, or if you heard about a Klub80 polish series, with 80s music and Italo Disco anniversary boxes of Savage, Fancy, C.C.Catch and others, you should have no doubts.

Mastering is making by "Vinyl Magic" little company, also on some ZYX releases. There aren't any losses in any sound parameters. All is perfect, evenly cleared and converted. It's a connection of best digital capabilities and vinyl warm tone.

The only one problem is - can you hear these details smile.gif I think no japanese record company can rival with that quality, which for sure you find also on Radiorama new 30th anniversary CD albums.

We know how much have changed the rules of the worldwide music market and also, that in the mainstream record labels nobody cares of details, on which they can't earn...

Perfect mastering, care of the details, are an asset of the small labels, which do such re-editions for passion, then for money.

If it sounds like MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) mastering and not the " I WANNA BE THE LOUDEST BECAUSE I CAN" kind of remaster, I'd be willing to try. If it's the later, they can keep their CD.

Same here.

Here is an example from Pokorny Music Solutions:
YOUTUBE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQkoKYhRBJI )

I compared it to the original (got most of it on vinyl and good vinyl rips) and it clearly lacks dynamic range compared to the original (the short impulse in the snare drum is completely missing). Also there are some distortions in the higher frequencies. This is often the result when you try to limit the dynamic range of older recordings because the recordings aren't as “clean” as modern recordings. Especially old analogue tape recordings tend to wear out so it's better to slightly remaster a good clean vinyl rip than taking the original tapes.
Listen to how much more dynamics the original mastering of Love Spy has:
YOUTUBE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxSYQQmBG0 )

But of course I will give this individual release a chance. The mastering studio does what the record company wants it to do, so this may be different.

Exactly ! This is the worst, wrong trend and it's totally far from the idea of these releases, which come from the polish labels reactivating Italo Disco projects.

Yes, you should give a chance. Well, who knows, maybe I mislead you about the current author of mastering, but I think no one stopped the cooperation with Vinyl Magic after several years of succedded co-working.

Teh Asphyx - I won't change your mind and subjective opinion, if you hear such "errors", but I don't want to think, what would answer that man and the others from team release Klub80 and Pokorny Music Solution CDs wink2.gif

In the modern Italo Disco world they are glorified as the masters of the sound, which do the miracles, completely opposed to "loud mastering". The point of their work always was to extract the each detail, advantage of analog record with the digital methods.

Anyone, Avex Trax can be the biggest and the richest label in the world, what doesn't mean, that they have specialists to sound mastering or care of that thing. Also we have own needs, maybe for someone even a perfect technically work isn't perfect in his ears, because he's geared to another sound details.

@ Crockett

You don't have to convince me that they are better than Avex in terms of sound. Sadly it's not very difficult to have a better sound than current Avex releases even with loud mastering because only two labels, Delta and SAIFAM use kick drums with short sustain curves. The other labels mostly use far too long sustain curves so the whole low frequency part is just mud in one tonality. That's probably because they want to copy modern EDM sound but most modern EDM is slower than Eurobeat so the kick drums can be longer without overlaying the bass.

As I said, I will give it a chance. It's just very difficult to convince me of remasters but sometimes it works if they're really good.
