The main site did not attract too many visitors at first, let alone the discussion board. I remember there was only me answering Initial D questions on the original discussion board. 10 posts a day was consider a record. The main site got about 20 to 30 visitors a day for the first half years. On April 17th, 2001, Yahoo! accepted Initial D World and listed the main site under their search engine. Keyword was "Initial D." Soon after that, Initial D World got accepted into the then-popular anime site AniPike. It was consider very hard to get listed there, but Initial D World made its way there. It didn't take too long before the words are spreaded. By the beginning of year 2002, the main site was already getting an average of 500 to 600 visitors a day. And the discussion board was starting to get a little busy. Initial D World Forums had switched host / server countless times. From the very first CoolBoard (2000-2001), to ezboard (2001), to YaBB (2001), to YaBB SE (2001-2002), to the current Invision Board (2002-present). The actual turning point for Initial D World was when Google accepted and listed the main site as the first return result when you type in the keyword "Initial D." As you all probably know, many other small search engines use the same technology as Google does. When Google listed Initial D World as the first return result, many other search engines did the same. That is when the main site start getting a lot of traffic. By the end of year 2003, the main site is serving around 40000 visitors a month, averaging 1300 visitors a day. With the release of Initial D Fourth Stage in April 2004, the main site got even more popular and the traffic basically skyrocketed ever since. Today, the main site is visited by 2500 to 3500 visitors each day. I can't believe it's the 5th birthday for IDW already. What's even more unbelievable is that the site and the forums are doing equally good. We have a lot of positive feedbacks at the main site and the forums we are in right now is probably the most popular English Initial D discussion board on the internet. I can't thank you all enough, for your continuous support. Without some of your help, IDW can not make it to this day, for sure. I hope you all can keep up the great work at whatever you are doing. If you are in the Moderating Team, congratulations, you've made it through the evaulation and keep up the work in moderating these forums. If you are a regular member, I hope you can continue to contribute to this little community. I am sure, one day we will have a big enough community to have an international meet. If you are just a lurker or a guest, I hope you will join in the fun and start posting here. I would like to thank everyone, once again. Especially to those who helped me at the very beginning with the main site, and the Moderating Team. Thanks. Initial D World Forums will continue to provide a place for people to talk about their favorite anime of all time - Initial D for many many years to come. I salute you, IDW. Happy 5th Anniversary, Initial D World. Happy Birthday. Rock on !! EDIT: Well, looks like it's being taken care of by the same people who decided it would be a good idea to hack the place. This post has been edited by Nomake Wan on Aug 2 2005, 04:07 PM |
