People who have the legit information please repost if necessary.
A few things to remember:
1. Please post AS4 vids on this thread rather than Video Resources for now. I believe we don't have an open AS4 forum yet, so until then post it here.
2. The game isn't out in the US yet, so don't think that there aren't any more changes to be made.
3. Read #2 again.
4. Most of you haven't even played the game, so please don't whine about how the gameplay already sucks.
Okay, have fun posting. - CoastalmixX

I'll do my part... Hehehe...
From what i gather so far, and from what is on their official site, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type R Version 5 is now a normal car (as in you do not need to input a code to unlock it) and comes in it's stock form without the STi sport bumper (thats the 22B bumper every keeps mistakingly calling it - take it from me, it's the STi sport bumper, i own one ). I suppose you have to tune the Impreza now to install the STi sport bumper. The car is also available in different colours, and apparently Bunta's is blue now.
Another thing that is interesting is that on their site, under the detailed diagram discribing the new card, you can use 6 characters as a username. Pretty cool.
What i want to know now is this, how is it possible that you can give cars different colours other than the stock colours and put team stickers which the cars do not appear to be a part of in Initial D - e.g. yellow Levin with Emperor sticker.

|Posted by: editor Mar 4 2007, 11:14 AM|
| Well this is strange!
I was the one that started the Topic last year - and if I remember was accused of lying only for a lot of red faces and appology's from members - some members even tried to hide the fact that I had ran the information first.
Secondly, I supplied a load of images of the cabinet on test - supported by a friend to our service linking the forum with the YouTube test site footage. Sorry to have seen this all go. I also linked the beginning of the week the official cabinet picture (this is the older impress.co.jp first image):
I was surprised the topic was never pinned - unlike my breaking of news on Wangdon Midnight 3 AC? There we seem to have a similar problem where a topic was deleted only to be reposted by someone else as their own!
If there is a problem with supply information from our news service on this site just let me know, but to be honest if information supplied is going to be repositioned across the internet as their own it may be best to pass on supporting the forum.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 4 2007, 11:19 AM|
|I don't think he did it on purpose, he wouldn't have left the topic open for 5+ months if that was the case. I'm sure if you really wanted, I'm sure he could delete this one and let you write the opening post.|
|Posted by: editor Mar 4 2007, 11:25 AM|
| Seems I have a real gift for getting backs up recently.
I was not accusing anyone of doing it on purpose, I was just surprised to see it changed like this - the situation with the Midnight information was another issue (confusion).
If we can just pin it and put a front page on it with the link to the official ID4 page and the YouTube footage as it was originally think this would be great.
And anyway the only people who should get the credit is Sega!
All the best,

|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 4 2007, 01:50 PM|
This is REALLY interesting... What's up with the camera? That'd be awesome if that was involved in internet battles.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 4 2007, 02:36 PM|
|I like how they removed all the cars that were new to V3. Sega tryin to say V3 was a mistake?|
|Posted by: Ke6dRt Mar 4 2007, 02:50 PM|
| Okay, I'll bite.
My eyes are already rolling.
I believe you had a hand in fanning the flames there. The initial post had no real info, just an assertion that OMG it's in teh works! And the link you posted also had no real info. OF COURSE there's going to be skepticism. Then when more news started breaking, you could've played it cool, but instead had to go on the whole "see I told you so" trip. The fact you're bringing this up again now doesn't help your case either.
Clearly, that was the implication. You chose your words and the smiley carefully to make it such.
It's called the interweb, deal.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 4 2007, 04:00 PM|
|what was the point of even posting that response? He was the first one to break the news here, we should all be happy for that. Believe it or not I'm sick of this stupid internet bullshit, there is no f*cking point. You are just going to start more bullshit, this thread will be deleted 'accidently' then we will be back at square one. Just stay on topic.|
|Posted by: Möbius Mar 4 2007, 04:06 PM|
I stickied the WMMT thread, but I have no knowledge of an issue?
|Posted by: editor Mar 4 2007, 04:11 PM|
| This is the very comment I was concerned about with the deletion of the history of this topic, with wild claims and avoidance of the reality. Well look who returned after throwing round some allegations and then suddenly avoiding recriminations – so ‘Ke6dRt’ is here, sure to be followed by other friends – okay, lets party!
ISSUE - Let me get this right… you accuse me of
that comes very rich as I came in good faith FIRST to this forum, supplied the information on the test site and the JAMMA proposed appearance. Then what seemed to follow was a bunch of ‘questionables’ claiming I knew nothing and that ID4 was not coming out yet.
All of a sudden I brought over a copy of the image of the test site – which was followed by one of our e-news service sources supplying a YouTube feed of the machine on test and suddenly those big mouths all disappeared. However I did receive apologies from the moderator of the topic (for which I was grateful) and some of the other doubters.
REALITY - I love seeing the comment
meaning "oh he got lucky or something and anyway just because we claimed he was lying only to find out he was on the ball… what dose that prove!" This was exactly the case with the Wangan Midnight 3 forum information – though unlike this ID4 topic this still survives for you to judge who is working in fact! http://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=25031
You can see how I had to plough through some unflattering claims over the Namco information then only again to be proven to be on the ball – though this time with moderator support to avoid too much flaming (thanks again on that).
FACTS - Seeing the phase
I have to say that is bull as I was one of the people bring more of the information – The images I brought from my attendance at JAMMA spoke volumes though seeing the phrase “…helping your case…” – in other words don’t like admitting to be wrong – a problem I would recommend seeking help on!
The smiley was regarding the Wangan issue and not the deletion here – though reality and facts are an anathema to you I am sure.
oh someone brought a copy of Wired once! My issue was that information on a forum is for general consumption, I wanted to make sure there was no problem with our support of information we get could be circulated here without being flamed by ‘questionables’… just like you!
I know it hurt when a newcomer came with information, and getting sore about who’s name is on the Topic Starter, but a little forum respect goes a long way to act more mature!
Ah... got that rant out of my system- to the real forum members, I will try and get some new shots of the cabinet, we have a American amusement show in a couple of weeks that could see a test machine - but don't get your hopes up just yet I am promising nothing till I see the cabinet, or have to wait till my next Japanese trip in May.
All the best,

But lol, looks like the version 5 is getting all the exterior parts that used to be in the tunes for the version 6. LOL, like my little bro said, my two fav. chars mushed into one.

a question for anyone thats played it
iv seen some videos of some guy from japan jerking the wheel like you do in maximum tune
is that really neccessary?
|Posted by: CoastalmixX Mar 4 2007, 08:31 PM|
| editor: I didn't delete it on purpose.
What really happened was this:
stuykid posted an ID4 vid in the Vid Resources forum, and I wanted to move it to the AS4 thread that you created. I merged the two but the AS4 thread ended up moving to the Vid Resources forum.
Making a stupid mistake, I deleted that thread thinking it was a duplicate of the thread I thought was in the Arcade Stage forum.
But there was no thread in the AS forum. So I looked around for it in Temporary Disposal and didn't see it. I had no choice but to make a new one.
If you want all the credit and recognition for supplying ID4 information, take it all, I don't even give a shit.
Just don't think too much about the deleted thread, it was a simple mistake, not an act of thievery.
And please, don't put "All the best," at the end of your post if you don't even mean it.
Edit: And by the way, if you remember when there were multiple ID4 threads, I deleted the ones that didn't have sufficient info and kept yours and one that was "wish list" type. In fact, I merged that wish list with YOUR thread and kept your thread in tact.
Like Excel said, if I wanted to steal your thunder, I would've done it a long time ago. Thankfully, I don't care too much about your presence on this forum.
|Posted by: DamienWolf Mar 4 2007, 09:13 PM|
| Man, we should call this Creditor's thread or something as the topic is mostly about who should get proper credits and why and whatnot. Im hoping there's more info on IDA4 and less banter about crushed egos.
I saw a Vid of Pika racing Takumi on a thread somewhere and wondered if they upped tha AI a bit. Actually watching the replay of IDA4 was "somewhat" like watching the replay of IDver3, of course with a lot more kickarse camera angles. I still wish they should polish it a little more. I dont know its sort of missing something but even now it looks cool.

| I've watched the iro battle footage on youtube....... its going to turn out like max tune where skylines rule... NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I mean holy crap the guys hitting so many walls, yet hes going faster than an average driver in an Evo would go, anmd talking about no wall penalty!!!! he's going through turns at 80+ and straights hes hitting 105+!!!
|Posted by: Braja Mar 5 2007, 04:18 AM|
| irohazaka there isnt a very huge wall penalty esp the inside wall (in other words turn early and slide along. its better than going wide and hitting the outside on the exit). other courses theres a pretty big penalty. you usually even have to drop gears and it'll take almost a whole second off your time or more.
update: k got bored today so took a vid for you guys. this is ME in one of my EVO IX cars doing a TA on akina downhill. i coulda taken some turns tighter and grabbed the gutter but still ran a 3'12"427. not eye-popping but better than average. its just to give you an idea of what its like once you get a feel for the handling of the new system
fastest time in the world (AE86 Trueno): 3'02"(i forget the odd change)
fastest time for an EVOIX: 3'08"(again forget the rest)
typical noob average time: ~3'22" (subjective)
typical experienced player time: ~3'16" (also subjective)
anyway here's the link:
|Posted by: LancE.Ryousuke Mar 5 2007, 08:58 AM|
nice tuning to your car anyway, besides the drifty part, is there any other differences in the game as compared to V3? ex: longer braking times, lower cornering speeds, different linings etc.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 5 2007, 11:57 AM|
|Nice run, Braja! Would you say the Evo IX is pretty good on Akina?|
|Posted by: Möbius Mar 5 2007, 04:54 PM|
Thanks for the vid, Braja...
It looks like it's a bit closer to BG3 style?
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 5 2007, 06:09 PM|
| Wow, looks like the list of tuner parts, aero parts companies has increased. Interesting... Is Varis a new addition to the list? http://initiald.sega.jp/ind_ac4/link01.html
and referring back to this vid:
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE elaborate on how the fudge it's possible to give a car a non-stock colour? I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to get a GC8V and paint it red (like my car IRL) when i start playing this game. LOL, i wonder if you can choose your own shade of colour, or have to borrow stock colours from other cars... IF that's the case... The red availble on Kenji's S13 would be ideal.
I cant wait to play.
EDIT: At about 2:27 of that vid, when the Levin does a jump, you can see that they've also updated Subaru's banner. They are using the new one with the blue star emblem... pretty cool.
EDIT again: Why is it that Mako and Sayuki are listed at the bottom of the cars list with their Sileighty... I mean... Isnt the Sileighty a Nissan? Why isnt it in the Nissan category?
|Posted by: wolfdemon Mar 5 2007, 06:45 PM|
|the game looks better each day , but damn it going to take so long to get to the usa|
|Posted by: jinpak Mar 5 2007, 07:28 PM|
|nice run braja, more videos please!|
|Posted by: Braja Mar 5 2007, 07:54 PM|
well the EVOIX dominates the final leg of the course. as does other 6 gear cars. theres almost no matching the top speed on the last couple turns. thats where i make my move in a non-boost race. however 5 gear cars seem to have the advantage the 1st leg. this is probably why the AE86 is the king of the course. cause you can eventually get the 11K tacho and race engine.. so you get a 5 gear car with a high top end. best of both worlds i'm assuming.
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 5 2007, 08:00 PM|
|Hey Braja, can you explain the custom colour on that Levin? Also the sticker?|
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 5 2007, 08:15 PM|
Varis has been on the list... they made one of the Celica bodykits in the previous games.
And Braja, you said the 6spd's dominate on the last part of the course. What about some of the powerhouse 5spd's like the R32, GC8V and the other Evo's? Are they good on the last part too?
|Posted by: Braja Mar 5 2007, 08:58 PM|
sorry cant explain that yet. unless the color was funny on the video and it was a red one. but i'll try to investigate more for ya. but so far i havent seen color changing yet. the sticker is normal though. can pick stickers.
now that you mention it they do put up more of a fight than other cars. GC8V isnt special there. i usually dont have a big problem with those on that part and even bunta. if he passes me prior to it i can always catch him there. the R32 and EVOIV are pretty good contenders though. but as long as i do small drifts (pump the gas before the apex) to keep the RPM's maxed they still arent quite as fast. many people surprisingly dont do that though. so if its a battle of a 5 spd and 6 spd who doesnt drift (they'll fall out of the powerband and sometimes even have to drop a gear) the 5spd powerhouse will win usually. as most cases it depends on the driver and if theres boost or not. sadly almost everyone in japan uses boost@.@
|Posted by: Mr. Shine Mar 6 2007, 08:11 PM|
| If you get a chance Braja, what do you think of the new WRX in the game? It sounds like 6-speed cars have a real strength in the game, so I'm considering whether it's worth starting out with something like that or to go with a regular choice...
I'm also interested in what you know of the differences between the AE86 Trueno and Levin - do they handle differently and/or have different options? I have a kind of Levin fetish at the moment so I'm leaning towards a Levin but don't want to be crippled by a poorly chosen car.
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 6 2007, 08:33 PM|
|I wonder if Braja has found out more about that custom colour i asked about earlier.|
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 6 2007, 09:35 PM|
| ok, well so far this new game looks off the hook, eager to play it and cant wait for it, at the same time kinda sad to leave VER. 3 behind.
I was just wondering if any of like the so called "CHEAP" cars have been found out yet? for ex. like the DC2 in ver. 2 and the rx-8 in ver. 3, would there be one for Initial D 4?
p.s. the EVO IX and the new Subaru look crazy.
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 6 2007, 09:41 PM|
| I'll be jumping on the new "cheap car" immediately in this game. No use wasting money on loses you know. It's all about winning.
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 6 2007, 09:51 PM|
| if anyone finds out which car in initial d 4 will act as the DC2 of ver. 2 and the RX-8 of ver. 3, please pm me or post it up on this thread, thank you.
@WRX DEMON haha i agree, i'd jump on it too.
i've already begun deciding which cars i want, so far i want a white evo ix and a white subaru wrx sti
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 6 2007, 10:01 PM|

if there is, it would probably be someone's opinion, but i'd still like to know lol xD

|WRX Demon - Did you look under the AE85(Itsuki Version)? It clearly shows a yellow color available...|
|Posted by: CoastalmixX Mar 7 2007, 12:04 AM|
|Thanks soooo much Perry for correcting my mistake.|
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 7 2007, 01:36 AM|
in that case, there should be other "new" colours available for other cars?
hmm maybe even a Black Trueno
|Posted by: Mr. Shine Mar 7 2007, 04:59 AM|
|No black Trueno, the AE86 has only the ordinary schemes avaialable. The AE85 has some nice colour options however, though no black.|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 05:00 AM|
That cant be true. Wow, it's got two new colours... Blue and Yellow... Awn... That throws my theory out the window.
I wonder what other cars got new colours?
|Posted by: Braja Mar 7 2007, 08:44 AM|
|hey wrx demon. you wanted red right? well guess what. thats one of the stock colors for the GC8V. even though its not on the website i got one today. i'll take a pic sometime to prove. anyway got it in your honor. my only 5 gear car. cheers my friend;)|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 09:00 AM|
OMG!!! SAY WHAT?!?!? THere's a RED STOCK COLOUR FOR THE GC8-f'ing-V!?!?? That's totally freaking awesome....
Please please, pics!!!
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 7 2007, 09:06 AM|
I didn't get a chance to say it earlier, but, big deal... Red Impreza coupe... Wip dee doo doo....
Anyways Braja, any word on the EVOs, is it really only the 3, 4 and 9?
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 09:09 AM|
|Heee hee!!! I'm so excited!!! Thanks Braja! I cant wait to see that pic!!!|
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2007, 10:50 AM|
I have not seen WRX Demon more excited for something other than when Shale announced she owned a Scoobie. But nonetheless. Red Impreza FTW. I still might make mine black.
Also, I'm more interested if Siona made it as a course in the final version. Has anyone that has played it know the final list of the courses?
|Posted by: Braja Mar 7 2007, 10:58 AM|
yes i believe they were mentioned quite awhile back. check my course and character list many pages prior. a moderator should put the info up somwhere like the frontpage. anyway, the courses/characters are:
-2 guys from tokyo
-bunta (unlocked after all regular and hidden characters are cleared)
-toudo school guy 1
-todou guy 2 (smiley sakai)
-toshia joushima (god arm)
-hoshino kozou (god foot)
-keisuke (unlocked after all opponents are cleared)
-takumi (unlocked after keisuke is cleared)
bgm music can NOT be selected manually, nor is there a list. and yes, you can play the player next to you although online mode is what people use 99% of the time. lastly there is NO BUNTA CHALLENGE. anything else, feel free to ask.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 11:00 AM|
| there is definitely no siona. all the people who are in japan reporting are saying the same things we've been hearing and they have played the final version. akina lake, akagi, akina, new myogi, iro, and tsukuba that is all.
great another red option available for a car. more ricer red cars, ahoy!
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2007, 11:04 AM|
| Well, for one, there is no Happogahara. That is a huge blow to my interest in buying a card for the game. That is not including the cost to play it. I suppose now that the color changes to the GC8V are more than enough to try out at least a stock car to see if I will like it or not.
and MAYBE Keisukes FD might push me over the line to play it. That is, if someone gets it in New York, which is doubtful.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 11:07 AM|
|yeah I dont really care by the time this game comes out the closest arcade to me that will have it is probably somewheres in the city anyways. I have lost interest in general, ditching shomaru and happo has accelerated my disinterest in this game.|
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2007, 11:11 AM|
| Well, atleast the city is a manageable drive for you. Albany isnt too far out is it? I know Binghamton is quite a hefty drive to the city.
But nonetheless, there is still Tekken.
Also, maybe they took out Shomaru and Happogahara because of the new "realistic" driving for the game. But, then again, why still keep Irohazaka?
I suppose it's up for debate to as if why this was done.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 7 2007, 01:31 PM|
| What does the physics have anything to do with taking out Happo or Shomaru? They are courses just like all the other ones. I don't really get what point you are trying to make.
Still reserving my opinion for when I actually play it... But I do hope they can update it online with some new maps and tracks.
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2007, 01:37 PM|
| It was just my observation that turning in the pervious versions to the new release is much different. My point was going to begin saying that maybe they were taken out because the hard lefts or rights (CP1 and CP4 in Happogahara or the M turn in Shomaru) would prove to be too difficult. I mean, you can look at any video and see the turn of the wheel is more "violent" if you will, meaning wouldnt getting used to the transition from Version 3 to Arcade Stage 4 be that more difficult? (If anyone will play it at all..)
Then again, it might not be the turning. It might just be the countersteering. Who knows. I sure as hell can't really say anything because as it looks, no one is probably going to be getting it in NY, unless what Tomo-sans suggestion says, I will definitely not be driving to the city just to pay what? 2 dollars to play? I think not.
So to those who have played it, what is the general consensus? Yay or nay?
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 01:56 PM|
| Even if it is in NYC eventually and that is my only choice- 2 dollars a play, at least 50 bucks to park your car in a main area that is safe, or 80 bucks to train it both ways to play this game? No thanks.
I'm not judging this game one way or another I'm sure some people will find it 5 times more fun than any previous version, but they ditched my 2 favorite courses and the gameplay just looks too ridiculous for me to even want to play it. That's all I guess. Think whatever you guys want, I'm not going to waste my time or money on this game.
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 7 2007, 02:07 PM|
| Wow... you can't even select waht music you want?
WMMT3 here I come.
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 02:09 PM|
|Meh, i dont mind about the music. I dont really like any of the songs in this game.|

|thank god for ipod users.....I hope you have an option just have no sound. Once Forza 2 comes out, Im thinking bout getting into that game to warm up for IAS4. Im not forgeting about Gran Turismo 5.|

| Great job Perry!
Very much appreciated - 'a man who forgets his history will be cursed to repeat it!"
Now where did that flamer go!
|Posted by: divinity Jy Mar 7 2007, 05:10 PM|
|Anyone here try to FD yet? If so, is it any good compared to the power house cars like the Evo IX and s2000?|
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 7 2007, 05:30 PM|
| @ BRAJA
what is the car that is freakishly outstanding in initial d 4 like the rx-8 of ver. 3 and the DC2 of ver. 2? is it the s2000?
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 05:31 PM|
|Man, i hope braja took a photo of that red GC8V. Or one better, a video!|
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2007, 05:33 PM|
This is just my observation, but in almost every video I've seen, it has been the S2000 as the car that the driver is using. So I would assume that yes, "the new rx8" is the AP1.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 05:37 PM|
|i would assume its way too early to tell since the game is still brand new. just wait it out and we'll all know with time.|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 7 2007, 05:40 PM|
I was thinking this too. How do we know that the people who posted vids up werent just really good and prefer to drive an S2k?
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 7 2007, 07:05 PM|
Not only that, isn't it still in beta testing stages?
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 07:18 PM|
|final version was released|
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 7 2007, 07:29 PM|
And it failed miserably under Team Tokui's rating system.
I'm pissed about the no Happo too. :[
And can we even do blind attacks? I havent heard anyone talk about that yet..
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 7 2007, 07:42 PM|
Then I guess the final version is crap for removing a bunch of cars, such as the EVO V and VI.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 07:49 PM|
| to be honest, I'm happy the ditched the rx8 too. I was sick of watching people crash the shit out of my car all over the place trying to TST.
I agree with you, removing the cars and courses from the ORIGINAL initial D game itself is a step backwards IMO. Oh well, who cares, we'll find other things to do I guess.
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 7 2007, 08:40 PM|
WOO HOO! WOOOOOOOOO F****** HOOOOOOOOO! *does crazy happy dance* Can't be cursed by the course if it's not even there! I hadn't thought of that!!!
I don't like the removal of old cars. I don't like the removal of old courses. I don't like the addition of only two new cars and some course modifications.
But no Happo and no TST+Eraser? I'll take that. I'll take that with a grin and a nod.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 08:45 PM|
|of course you will, cus you couldn't drive happo vey well|
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 7 2007, 08:51 PM|
|ok well so ID4 is out in japan, i heard its coming out in november for U.S., is it true or is it another release date?|
|Posted by: Arcy Mar 7 2007, 09:18 PM|
|no happogahara? =(..... whatever. I'll still give it a shot.|
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 7 2007, 09:48 PM|
That really is too bad, I really enjoyed Happo, and it's been a course in the game since Version 1. It really is too bad they eliminated it.
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 7 2007, 09:49 PM|
Did you figure that all out on your own?
|Posted by: Braja Mar 7 2007, 10:08 PM|
| for those wondering blind attack is still there. just takes a bit longer to initiate. and to wrx demon i'll try to get a pic/vid for ya today if i have time. but time and $ are limited these days.
been playing less and less and the rest of the country is catching up:( no longer have an advantage esp cause everyone uses boost too T.T
still no definite car that dominates but the top 4 are seemingly:
and lastly just wanna say i was purely against everything in the game (other than getting rid of eraser/TST; thank god for that). swore i would never play it. but like anyone i decided to play once. and like everyone i got freakin addicted-_-. surely you will all turn out like me. sucks the game is missing so much but the cars are highly customizible and people will always be attracted to competition (even if its just TA's). and no game forces competition like initial d.
p.s.- nomake, not telling you how to do your job but you may wanna put some repeated info on the front page er somethin. like the course/character list i put on the last page (64) and stuff like that. unless ya wanna just wait for the official website to update. i'm just sayin cause it took me awhile to type:P ha
|Posted by: KTX Mar 7 2007, 10:11 PM|
|Only by guess, but do you guys think it will be like version two where the best TA car is the best battle car, or like V3 where there is a best TA car(rx8) and best battle car(GDB)?|
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 7 2007, 10:14 PM|
| Actually incorrect, popular fighting games like SF,VF,Tekken and MVC for example have and will force MUCH more competition than any racing game ever will... And it costs a lot less to play those types of games...
I'm old school man, I'm old. I want nothing to do with this new school whole fake ass drifting bullshit, which is why I played ID instead of every other game to begin with. Oh well, looks like Im going for a late night drive T_T
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 7 2007, 10:17 PM|
Can't, dude. I only have magical mod powers in Initial D General Discussion and nowhere else. My hands are tied in this matter or it'd be done already.
|Posted by: ChaosAngel Mar 8 2007, 02:31 AM|
|y would they not include BC in v4??|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 04:52 AM|
Same. I'm glad they eliminated that TST stuff too. I was never fond of Happo, though i could hold my own against opponents like I am the Bozz there.
|Posted by: Möbius Mar 8 2007, 08:00 AM|
| No Happo is not good... Fave course since V1, why would they not have it?
I guess they took it out to put it in when ID4 V2 hits...
|Posted by: Braja Mar 8 2007, 10:51 AM|
| @ wrx demon
ok wrx demon this one's for you. per request here is a pic AND a vid of your beloved red wrx. well not yours but you know what i mean ha...
and the vid is just a vid of me kicking god arm's ass. still nothing special. just needed to test cause havent tried a 5-gear car on that course yet. only battled 6 times with it so far. wasnt even a very good run but just to let you see it in action...
its about time for my car to hit the body section of the tune-up shop so tomorrow if i have time i might try to take a vid of the bumper choices for you. no promises. but in the meantime enjoy what i got here;)
|Posted by: Guate in evoV Mar 8 2007, 11:02 AM|
| sweet man that wrx looks awsome...
i like how they add a shop to keep your car in
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 8 2007, 11:05 AM|
|lol the garage looks like the one in SRS only worse XDDD|
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 8 2007, 11:18 AM|
I guess we share the same tastes, Happo is my favourite course as well, especially since it's my WRX DEMON killing zone (or at least was when I was playing the game frequently).
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 11:32 AM|
Oh dear... It looks so beautiful... Braja, i am in your debt. I know it's only a game, but you have my eternal friendship from here on out. I love you man. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You've brought the biggest smile to this ugly mug of mine.
Braja, would you mind uploading to perhaps a host so i can download it onto my harddrive?
|Posted by: Akira Mar 8 2007, 11:44 AM|
| OMFG! Two great things, DEMON is forverer immortalized in this game now, AND I can get a GC8V in any color I wish!
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 8 2007, 11:46 AM|
But.... can you get it in pink?
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 8 2007, 12:03 PM|
|I'd rather have one in pink than ricer red ^^|
|Posted by: Ke6dRt Mar 8 2007, 12:25 PM|
|More importantly, is the Sil80 still available in pink? The website doesn't show it, but then it also didn't show red for the GC8V.|
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 8 2007, 12:34 PM|
What the heck... how the heck is red... ricey?
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 12:35 PM|
From their website, i found a colour that resembles a sort of steel purple... Maybe they toned down how vibrant the colour is in version 4?
@Bozz, it's probably Tomo's opinion. Leave it be.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 8 2007, 01:07 PM|
|red in general is just ricey to me, that's all. I hate red cars in general. No biggie.|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 02:20 PM|

|Posted by: divinity Jy Mar 8 2007, 03:45 PM|
Agreed. I just don't like red cars.
|Posted by: feint_se3p Mar 8 2007, 05:17 PM|
| Yeah i dont like how they changed the look of the cars, i think theyre trying to make them look more real life but its not working out, i like the look of heavy lines, thats what made the animations of ID unique, it had its own character.
The garage does look like its from SRS you think they wouldve put more detail in it with how popular it is
|Posted by: Guate in evoV Mar 8 2007, 06:41 PM|
i dont know if anyone noticed but they updated the official site, they show the
characters now...big woop...
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 06:47 PM|
| LOL, neat. Man, that guy with the glasses of the two guys from Tokyo... he's tiny... Well, at least compared to the big fella from toyko on the right
|Posted by: KTX Mar 8 2007, 07:10 PM|
| Now I seriously hope that the game is not fully up to date yet or at least not the website. I examined that character list on the new web site and found out what courses they are attached to and came up with this...
Akina Lake-Iggy (Itsuki) (Itsuki)
Tak (Takumi) (Takumi)
Maya/Simone (Sayuki) (Sayuki)
Zach (Takeshi) (Takeshi)
Kyle (Kyouichi) (Kyouichi)
Ry (Ryousuke) (Ryousuke)
Akina-Cole (Iketani) (Iketani)
Aki (Wataru) (Wataru)
Ry (Ryousuke) (Ryousuke)
Tak (Takumi) (Takumi)
Iro-Hawk (Seiji) (Seiji)
Kyle (Kyouichi) (Kyouichi)
I noticed that numerous course were absent and positions of drivers are a little weird. Also a lot of drivers were absent as well. Braja, or someone who plays, please tell me Im wrong. .....ps pardon me if I screwed up the names, Im only used to the english one.
|Posted by: Kam!kaze Mar 8 2007, 07:22 PM|
| I believe it'd be Tsukuba, instead of Happogahara.
|Posted by: Braja Mar 8 2007, 07:24 PM|
|i repeated many times. i already posted that list twice on this thread. check pg.64. and yes its the complete list. its the final game. and the last course is tsukuba not happo. sorry happo is gone too as we've been saying|
|Posted by: KTX Mar 8 2007, 07:26 PM|
| actually, I think your right, but still...WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE COURSES!
Edit-woops, ill check that out

|Weird colour on God Foot's R34. Good to see that Daiki and Smiley are back on the hardest course of the game.|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 8 2007, 07:53 PM|
|They dont show any pics of Bunta on the character list... I do hope that the STi sport bumper upgrade is available for the Buntamobile... I hope Braja can help me find out about that another time. Eh Braja?|
|Posted by: Jason_H. Mar 8 2007, 09:46 PM|
| I'm hoping for more course, more BGMs than this, but most of all I'm hoping I can at some point get ahold of some bubble headlamps for the GDB. It just isn't a GDB without bubbles man.
|Posted by: ChaosAngel Mar 8 2007, 10:50 PM|
firstly theres no GDB in v4.........so yea
lolz hahah Danny looks so funny >.<' n Tak (Takumi) doesnt even look like Tak (Takumi) from the anime anymore...he looks....different.....
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 8 2007, 10:59 PM|
yes there is... just not the first make of the GDB's he desires. The GDBF is in the game and still sports that HIDEOUS front end infamous from the newer STi's.
oh and KENTA and TAKUMI do look a bit different.
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 8 2007, 11:24 PM|
Also, it's confirmed that Bunta is raced after you beat everybody, so I would assume you can.
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 9 2007, 04:18 AM|
But thats a pic of a stock Impreza Type R. It dont have the STi sport bumper which made Bunta's so unique.
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 9 2007, 05:04 AM|
But look at the Trueno pic with Takumi's head next to it. Stock Trueno.
The point I'm trying to prove is that Bunta is in the game. You face him. Therefore his version of the car must be in the game.
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 07:16 AM|
nomake is right on the money. i took a vid for you wrx demon. sadly the quality on youtube sucks and, just my luck, a black bar went up the screen as i went past bunta's bumper. but its there. you can see his face appear though signifying its a part on his car. but cycled past it too fast. i was trying to get through as many body parts as possible before the time ran out. anyway i'll give you a link to the actual hi-res(ish) version. check your pm's tomorrow. i'll also give ya the godarm vid. anyway dont wanna post it public cause my bandwith will be destroyed. ha sorry guys.
anyway here's the low-res. pretty boring...
p.s.-i'm now 9-0 with that little red wrx that could;) (get kicked off after 3 in a row). of course i've just jinxed myself by saying that ha:P
|Posted by: 207 Mar 9 2007, 08:11 AM|
|did i just see a spoiler for an evo being offered for a subaru ?|
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 9 2007, 08:50 AM|
Yeah.. Kenta looks a bit gayer than usual. That stance and his shirt color doesn't work out too well. =\
|Posted by: BOZZ Mar 9 2007, 09:00 AM|
| So just to double check, I've check the site for the game, but these are the courses in the final V4:
Akina Lake, Myogi or Usui, Akagi, Akina, Irohazaka, Tsukaba?
I still can't get why they removed Happogahara and Tsuchizaka.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 9 2007, 09:31 AM|
| and uh shomaru?
I'm seriously guessing because of the physics. Look at iro and how over exaggerated and ridiculous the turning angles are. Now, imagine playing Shomaru with a cappuccino with those same physics. Happo would be just as bad. The rollercoasters in tsuchisaka would be unbearable. I'm seriously thinking they ditched the courses based on the new SUPER DRIFTO game play. It makes a lot of sense if you look at it that way.
|Posted by: CoastalmixX Mar 9 2007, 10:31 AM|
|^ And that's why I would still prefer ver3 over ID4.|
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 9 2007, 11:26 AM|
This is basically what I said in my last post in this thread, like 1 or 2 pages back. Excel asked me and I just voiced my opinion. Makes me feel like I know SOMETHING about initial d for once.
But then again, why would they keep Irohazaka? I mean, it's narrow IMO, but the countersteer for the turns are still "violent" (my terminology used in my previous post)
But nonetheless, it is not the physics keeping me away from the game. It's the fact that they took out 3 of the better courses in the series of the game.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 9 2007, 11:36 AM|
| I dunno, I think it just means you gotta slow down more. Battle Gear has some rediculously exagerated sliding, and Happo works in Battle Gear. Its a pain in the ass and you have to slow down and brake down to like 2 miles an hour, but its still playable.
I mean, God FORBID you actually have to slow down.
|Posted by: Smiley_DC2 Mar 9 2007, 11:42 AM|
|cool! the new WRX is in there, and i just bought the new impreza a fortnight ago!!!! (real life car, people!!!)|
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 9 2007, 11:55 AM|
That makes no sense what you just said. GOD FORBIDD you have to slow down? So in cp3 on happo IB, you can full throttle the whole checkpoint? All of shomaru V.3, you don't need to ever slow down ever then, right? Your statement makes no sense.
|Posted by: feint_se3p Mar 9 2007, 12:12 PM|
| Dude they are gonna have Tsukaba as in the world famous race track.
thats going to weird, does anybody have a video of them playing tsukaba id like to see what it looks like.
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 9 2007, 12:22 PM|
|we already went over this like 90 times. No, it's not the tskuba that you know of that is a race track in Japan, it's a mountain road.|
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 01:27 PM|
| i posted a video of a race on tsukuba. check out the video of my stock wrx vs godarm
since nobody looks at previous pages, i'll post again ;
tsukuba is the name of an area in japan. its not just the name of the track.
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 9 2007, 01:51 PM|
| Now i'm sort of glad that they didn't add Shin Myogi, Shin Usui, or Siona. There would be wall rape everywhere..
Although, Momiji Lane MIGHT HAVE been acceptable as a new course with the new physics.
@Braja: Any opinions on like the new courses? I know Akina Lake isn't much, but is Tsukuba that great? I mean, it looks boring. The only thing that accents the course are the new physics.
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 9 2007, 02:33 PM|
| ahaha yeah man I rkn ><"
shin myogi with drift physics ><
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 03:20 PM|
well akina lake is crap. its like a sunday drive. beautiful scenery but racing there (esp with boost-_-) is more pointless than even the old myogi. the new myogi is muchh better than the old one and even more difficult cause its such high speed. this course has diff physics than the others in the game. hard to explain but expect a lot of understeering. even with the new drift system. its tough to get used to and pretty unique. though some people still might find it boring/annoying. tsukuba is ok. theres a lot of right left right left action. its similar to the old tsuchisaka. cause its half uphill half downhill. but no fun oil slicks or cones to dodge.
theres big gutters to catch or simply leap over. its a lot of people's favorite but probably just cause its the only true new course. and its the last one of the game so everyone gets good at it to compete with the best characters in the game.
all in all theres enough to keep people addicted i think. and i think everyone will eventually like the new driving system. well at least people like me who hated TST/eraser ha:P only dumb thing is how easy 4WD cars drift just like FR's. but adds to skill level. more things to go wrong and turn a race around etc
|Posted by: feint_se3p Mar 9 2007, 03:27 PM|
|Sorry tomo, there were like 67 pages though and can anybody truthfully say that they would read all 67 pages the first time you looked at the thread??|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 9 2007, 04:01 PM|
Yes. If I wanted to know the information, you're damn well right I would. Heck, if you were smart you could've even started from the end and gone back until you saw the release news. Only THREE PAGES BACK was a list of courses and everything!
"the thread was too long" is the lamest forum excuse ever, and people who use it are just lazy people who deserve to get laughed at for not at least trying to go a few pages in.
|Posted by: Excel Mar 9 2007, 04:25 PM|
Taken out of context, that one line doesn't make sense, but in the context of the paragraph before it, it makes perfect sense. Don't read out of context
|Posted by: Tomo Mar 9 2007, 04:33 PM|
| no, it doesn't make any sense. I really dont get what you mean by it. I understand you are saying that happo was playable in BG even with the driftier physics or whatver... but the slowing down comment makes no sense. You are saying god forbid you have to slow down, when you've always had to slow down anyways in initial D on happo. See what I mean?
also it's hard for me to go back and try to reread your whole first paragraph when you just went back and edited it
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 04:55 PM|
|you slow down but not like bg. bg is much more realistic. no way would you fly at a hairpin on any course in real life in 3rd or 4th gear (esp irohazaka) with simply tapping the brakes. bg is driftier because, like real life, if you go fast into a corner you're gonna lose traction and hit a wall. upon which the car stops. also unlike initial d. so do you slow down in IDAS? yes. do you ever go lower than 3rd gear? no. does the car ever stop moving? not even if you try. so i think he's just getting at the idea that it wouldnt kill anyone to make people brake heavy and hit 1st/2nd gear in initial d. for example even in the anime, on happo, the race driver said "i took that turn in 2nd gear, he took it in 1st". when did you ever have to slow that much on happo in the game though?|
|Posted by: LancE.Ryousuke Mar 9 2007, 06:17 PM|
|has anyone successfully did the modified gutter run that you see in the anime? and what about akina's 5 consecutives? can the gutters there [as well as those on the course itself ] be used as well?|
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 9 2007, 06:56 PM|
From what I hear the gutters are pretty much pointless.
|Posted by: LancE.Ryousuke Mar 9 2007, 07:21 PM|
|really? that's strange though .. takumi could use it to overtake PIKA, but you hear it's considered pointless ..|
|Posted by: Kei Mar 9 2007, 07:54 PM|
|people just don't know how to use them properly yet|
|Posted by: WRX DEMON Type R Mar 9 2007, 08:18 PM|
|^ I was thinking along the same lines. I bet there will be some mad crazy times attained when people start using the gutters - they look REALLY effective from what i saw Takumi doing in that Pika replay.|
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 09:46 PM|
| bunta and takumi both use the gutter to catch you at the 5 hairpins on akina. esp bunta. i have successfully caught them a couple times but its really tricky, esp the 1st one and you have to get them JUST right or itll slow you down massively. i avoid them mostly for safety. the gutters on tsukuba are huge and easier to catch but i usually just take shortcuts over them instead of riding them. but again i dodge sometimes. i raced a GTR34 who grabbed every gutter on tsukuba. he wasnt as good at drifting as me but he ended up beating me cause he caught all the gutters and though i was scraping his bumper the whole way i didnt get to pass him sadly. so yea gutters work IF you get them right
oh and wrx demon, did you see the vid of the bumper selection? surprised you're not freakin out bunta's bumper is there. ha:P

|Had a few battles today in my Levin, and I have to say it seems to get a good startup compared to some other cars (unless my opponents were just terrible). I was gaining several metres on FDs, Evo9s and R34s in the battles I had today. All wins, too|
|Posted by: Manu Mar 9 2007, 10:17 PM|
what kind of levin are you using?? an 85 or a 86??? if your using an 85 sure you will get the start ups because the 85levin is the 2nd best start ups among 5 speed cars
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 9 2007, 10:33 PM|
Those start ups are meaningless now. All Ver.3 start ups are.
I seen an FD start up faster than an S2000.. so yeah.. Whole new start up system here.
|Posted by: Mr. Shine Mar 9 2007, 11:00 PM|
|86 Levin seems to be pretty good as far as startup is concerned, though it could also be in part because I don't bounce off the redline when I take off.|
|Posted by: Manu Mar 9 2007, 11:18 PM|
is that so mr Phantom_R32 sorry for mis-leading info.... i think i compared the version 3 to version 4.. honestly the version 4 are not yet been released here in my country
|Posted by: Braja Mar 9 2007, 11:31 PM|
| i rarely lose to anyone on startup no matter what i'm driving. they might get around me at the 1st or 2nd turn though but seems as long as you shift exactly at the limiter you'll always take the lead. some people bounce the redline or shift too early. just need a quick hand. it all depends on the driver and their reflexes. i was pissed yesterday though cause i raced without boost on a machine with a bad shifter-_-. it was over right from the beginning as the thing jumped back into 1st right after i shifted to 2nd. anyway its not always about the car.
good to hear you're enjoying your levin osk;) keep on winning
|Posted by: Mr. Shine Mar 9 2007, 11:45 PM|
I'll do my best sir! Just look out for "WHITE" as your opponent if you're battling Japan
|Posted by: Excel Mar 9 2007, 11:52 PM|
What I meant was... V3 Happo IB, you have to brake... 3 times? 1st turn CP2, tunnel turn CP2, and 1st hairpin CP3, the rest was all gas off(depending on car)? With driftier physics you just have to brake more. I didn't know I was speaking in the DaVinchi code. I meant God forbid you have to brake more then 3 times.
Same with Shomaru... You have to brake for a handful of corners, like 4-5ish, maybe you just have to brake more with driftier physics.
Of course, now this post might be in DaVinchi code because its 3AM and I'm drunk, but I still think what I posted made perfect sense.
And by the way, what I edited was I added 'slow down and brake' as opposed to just 'slow down' in the first post.

I've splitted this thread from the original one. The old one has been archived, it is now pinned and closed, mostly for reference only. New information on Initial D Arcade Stage 4 will be discussed in this new thread from now on.

I'll def. use my Cappuccino. Might use the AP1 and the Skyline GTR.
Aw.. no Happo... Good thing Tsuchisaka is gone... now I get to hear the same person complain... more..
Guess I'll play Akina or Tsukaba the most then...

So... any rumours or ideas as to when the Canadian release date will be? (sorry if the question has been asked before).

Doesn't guarantee arcades will get it though...
Most 'cades here won't...
|Posted by: Error Mar 11 2007, 07:20 PM|
It's probably the price that'll weigh them down, most arcades will wait until the price shifts a bit.

| No one's going to be able to afford AS4.
Atleast I know my arcade won't and all the other cheap ass Namco arcades.
|Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 11 2007, 08:06 PM|
|and the thing about only selling to arcades with internet access|
|Posted by: Phantom_R32 Mar 11 2007, 08:07 PM|
How many arcades in North America have Internet?
Probably 30 or less.
|Posted by: CYBERZONE Mar 11 2007, 08:26 PM|
| NetFragz in Fontana does, currently it is not really more of an arcade but a pc cafe with arcade games in such as tekken and ID, by the end of this year NetFragz will re-open in a huge place that will host 300 computers, console games, and arcade games, and maybe even billiards,
so trying to stay on topic, ID4 will fit just right in at NetFragz. + ID4 will be brought into this arcade 100% confirmed by owner.
anyone wanna drive down to fontana? lol
|Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 11 2007, 08:39 PM|
| man....if they run by the " only arcades willing to hook it up with internet" bs
then i dont see any arcades in brisbane...possible australia getting it

|Posted by: Möbius Mar 12 2007, 05:52 AM|
I can think of at least 4 in T.O. alone...
|Posted by: Braja Mar 12 2007, 06:42 AM|
don't remember akagi, but i know for sure one of the BGM's for tsukuba is "forever young". could be the only BGM there. akagi might be "revolution" i think but dont quote me. if i remember i'll try to check.
actually i never really notice the BGM. not only can you not choose, but its reallllly quiet in AS4. all i hear are the RPM's

|well if internet conection issue keeps as4 out of amusement 2k in downtown montreal then in satisfied|
|Posted by: Error Mar 12 2007, 03:53 PM|
| You know what I just realized?
Tsukaba almost looks like Tsuchisaka, no Shomaru involved.
The rollers seem to be in the same place, just a little more complicated.
And also, don't know if anybody stated, here are the reasons why Happo, Shomaru, and Tsuchisaka were removed:
Although the removal of the above three courses have upset many fans & players of previous versions of the game, rumor has it that the courses were removed from IDAS4 because of their unfairness in competition.
* Happogahara was an extremely twisty course that gave a large advantage to cars with excellent handling abilities.
* Shomaru was a narrow course that favored large cars with fast acceleration, which drivers would use to pass their slower/unaware opponent, then simply block the road from passes for the entire match.
* Tsuchizaka was a slippery course with few turns that heavily favored high powered, stiff handling cars (especially cars with All-Wheel Drive). The bias was so large that the difference between World Records of the best and worst car types amounts to well over 10 seconds.

|Tsuchi and Shomaru gone..my two favorite courses..|
|Posted by: Excel Mar 12 2007, 05:20 PM|
| Thats a bunch of crap
Its so wrong, I don't even know where to begin.
Um... last I check, a car with excellent handling abilities has the advantage on every course. The S14Q has better handling then every other car on Akagi, the AE86 has better handling then every other car on Akina, need I say more?
Somewhat believable, but its hard to pass on Usui and Myogi circuits because its so easy to block, and they still have circuit tracks in AS4.
1st, the largest difference is 7 seconds, tops. Second, on almost all the wet tracks, there was a 10+ second difference between the best and worst cars. On Akina wet, there is a 13 second difference between the 8V and the FFs. Yet they still retained wet tracks.
Don't forget, ANYONE can add info to Wiki... I'll probably delete that info later because its nothing more then a rumor - and thats giving i the benefit of the doubt.

I can see why people hate akina lake with boost. Myogi looks intresting now, just like myogi in the ps2
|Posted by: Braja Mar 12 2007, 05:36 PM|
yeah already said that before. esp playing the game you see the similarity. it's both uphill and downhill, theres a long straight section in the middle, and much of the course is left right left right turns. in fact its setup almost identical as far as, the direction you race takumi its uphill left-rights the 1st half, then the long straight, then a downhill with variations of tight turns and hairpins (where he usually catches up). only difference is tsukuba has big gutters and no oil slick/contruction cones and the straight has no tunnel.
|Posted by: Error Mar 12 2007, 06:02 PM|
What a rip off.. they might as well slap Tsuchisaka back in there. And they better put Happogahara in there while they're at it...
PS: Thanks for clearing up that stuff Excel.

|Posted by: ChaosAngel Mar 13 2007, 02:50 AM|
|i doubt they'll put the courses back in, coz they ahve to change it to allow it to work with the physics, n it'll take way longer for it to be released...but for a IDAS4.v2, it could be possible....IMO about lik 30%?? coz they can release the first version (which they already have in japan......) n then like a while after v4 has been officially been released all over the world they can start working on IDAS4.v2 BUT they might as well begin to work on a IDAS5 instead......|
|Posted by: Error Mar 13 2007, 05:15 AM|

|I bet anyone can get a faster time on Iro without all that wall slamming. Notice how all Iro videos, they all take the outside then hit the wall. Do you guys think its worth slowing down a by 5-10 KMPH so you can stick to the inside of each pin more? I notice that the AI catches up more because he's more to the inside, even though he entered at a slower speed. Maybe it's possible exit a corner without having to counter-steer. Drift+Powerslide just doesn't seem right.|

|Posted by: Braja Mar 13 2007, 08:01 PM|
| well they differ a little bit. not just overall speed. takumi is riding your ass hard by the 1st turn and does so till the 1st straight. bunta surprisingly isnt on your ass till about the 4th turn but just picks up speed from there. i actually sweat takumi a bit more cause its harder to block in the start. only scary thing about bunta is that he will ALWAYS be on you or pass you at the hairpins. and usually the game lets him push you if he has the inside. however you can usually catch him again at the last couple turns.
i'll try to take a video except dunno if itll be a rain battle since i beat him already.

|Posted by: dragonsho Mar 13 2007, 09:52 PM|

I'll also try it before i admit whether or not the game is a disappointment. But that red GC8V.... I dunno if i will be able to bring myself to admit that im disappointed.
|Posted by: Mr. Shine Mar 14 2007, 04:14 AM|
|The game is disappointing to begin with, as you soon realise the only thing you can carry into it to help you is your knowledge of a handful of courses. Once you begin to learn the handling and the courses it does and has, however become very enjoyable!|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 14 2007, 06:03 AM|
I actually felt this coming into Version 3. I'd only played Special Stage and Version 2 at home... and up at RIT they had Version 3. I jumped right in figuring I'd have an upper hand having played at home so much... but it turned out to be the total opposite. The physics were just... way different. It took me a month (what with classes and actual school stuff "getting in the way") to adjust, but then it was fun again.
I figured Version 4 would be the same way. I'd be kinda disappointed if it weren't.
|Posted by: dragonsho Mar 14 2007, 08:33 AM|
|Well the main reason I feel dissapointed (wow i can not spell that) is the lack of courses. I was thinking since it's more powerful, new, it should have all the courses. I'm just mainly upset about that. It could still be fun but I was just hoping for ALL courses.|
|Posted by: 207 Mar 14 2007, 12:08 PM|

|If only they had Shin Usui...|
|Posted by: Excel Mar 14 2007, 12:58 PM|
|My main beef is that they took out about 1/3 of the cars. Mazda took an especially large hit, only have 2 cars in v4, while they had like 6 in v3.|
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 14 2007, 01:10 PM|
| The Myogi in the game is not the true myogi. This is the true Myogi:
And as for Shin Usui:
It would be pointless to add Shin Usui now with the new super dorifto physics. It would have worked in V2 and V3 IMO, but not in this.
|Posted by: 207 Mar 14 2007, 02:19 PM|
well atleast this AS4 myogi isnt a boring map like id3
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 14 2007, 02:32 PM|
I welcome the change to the Myogi in this game. No arguements there. I was just clarifying that the Myogi in the game is not the true Myogi, to those who may still think or have thought that it was the true one. I don't want them to get confused and later on see the true Myogi in another version and go "WTF!?" or something.

|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 14 2007, 05:06 PM|
Myogi from AS4:
Comparing both CP1s from AS4 to the True Myogi, there are 2 consecutive hairpins in AS4, but in CP1 from the real Myogi, there is nothing to resemble it. The road of the course might be narrow as the real Myogi, but for it being the True Myogi, it's kind of a long shot.
But like I said before. It is a good thing that they didn't add Shin Myogi or Shin Usui. With the super 1337 dorifto-ness, it would be kind of hard to get anything done.
Also, I'm not saying this Myogi is bad. It actually looks alot of fun.

| Questions for those Japanese people that got to play
1. Is it possible to exit a corner while gripping? I understand that you have to slide to corner (which I think is a lot cooler than gripping), but I'm talking about real drifting. The kind where you slide into a corner(possible in V4), then smoothly drop in angle while going through a corner, then stepping on the gas without having to counter-steer/pull the front out of the slide.
2.Does MGS make you turn sharper?
3.Weight shifting physics?
4.Has anyone tried Iro without slamming into the wall, but sticking more to the inside? It looks like sliding at a bigger angle drops your speed, faster.
Experiments players should try.
Do a TA on Iro where you
1.Regular way. Enter hairpin at fast speed, drift around the corner and then slam into the wall.
2.Enter the hairpins at a slightly slower speed, and at a low slip angle(think Wet physics in V3) and stick more to the inside of the corner.
Tell me which run is faster.

|Posted by: editor Mar 15 2007, 03:37 AM|
| The amusement industry has a major bash planned for the end of the month in Las Vegas - we are all getting ready for it and some companies are placing new machines on test.
That said, it is very unlikely that SAU would bring over the game at this point in the season. I will never say never - but SAU has a choice of showing either '2Spicy' or 'ID4' and I know which one they have plumped for.
The 2007 arcade season has over seven new drivers (FatF3, CHQ2, RW, MK2, FR, CST, and MT3) and I think SAU thinking may be to hold off till Q4.
The same way that rumors started about ID4 after the news was broken, I think we will see a lot of 'claims' of test facility machines in the UK and US - who knows if one test machine has been brought over, all I will say is if the system is not at the US show then this is bogus?
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 15 2007, 05:16 AM|

| I work in Irvine, so I will take a look this afternoon for you guys.
I'm very very doubtful about an AS4 machine around here, though.
There are only 5 arcades/locales worth mentioning in/near Irvine: Boomers (formerly Palace Park), UCI, Dave & Buster's (Spectrum), Games Plus (Costa Mesa Bar/Pool/Arcade), and K1 (Go-Kart Track). Of the 5, only Boomers currently has a V3 machine.
1) Boomers Irvine (formerly Palace Park) is very, very cheap; I doubt they'd invest the money to import a game over, despite the potential to make their money back. How cheap you ask? Forget MvC2; they're still on XSF. DDR Supernova? Yea they got it about 2 months ago; they were still milking 4th Mix before that. I'm certain they'll wait for the domestic version.
2) UCI would be a very good place to take a look at. Their arcade is pretty happening, and would draw the best crowd for AS4...if it weren't for on-campus parking issues. It's bad enough that we'll have to pay $2.00 per race, but add on metered parking for non-UCI students? I don't see them getting the import or domestic AS4 because of this.
3) Dave & Busters has the money to get AS4, but I doubt their general public would respond well to an imported game they can't understand. I DO see them getting the domestic game when it comes out, though.
4) Games Plus, although they've had a V3 machine in the past, is the opposite of D&B. No funding to justify importing AS4. I'm actually wondering if they'd even shell out the cash for the domestic version when it comes out.
5) K1's main attraction is go-karting. The space they did set aside for arcades would be too small for AS4. Doubtful. But their TVs do have Drift events on more often than NASCAR stuff...so there is a little hope.
Will report back later tonight or tomorrow.

* Akina Lake (Easy) (NEW COURSE)
Akina Lake replaces the original Myogi as the "beginner" course, though its structure (circular lap course) remains similar to its predecessor.
+ Itsuki (AE85) = Counter-Clockwise, Dry, Day
+ Takumi (AE85) = Clockwise, Dry, Day
+ Two Guys from Tokyo (S15) = Counter-Clockwise, Dry, Night
* Myogi (Normal) (NEW COURSE)
This is not the Myogi of previous IDAS games. This is the "Shin Myogi" course seen in the manga & anime, and on the Initial D: Special Stage game for Playstation 2. It is a mountain road with an uphill and downhill route similar to Akagi and Akina. A notable difference between the three courses is that Myogi is noticably wider than Akagi and Akina, allowing faster speeds and a larger margin for error.
+ Kenji (RPS13) = Uphill, Dry, Day
+ Shingo (EG6) = Downhill, Dry, Day
+ Mako & Sayuki (RPS13KAI) = Downhill, Dry, Night
+ Nakazato (BNR32) = Downhill, Dry, Night
* Usui (REMOVED)
Both the Usui from previous IDAS games and "Shin Usui" from the manga, anime, and Special Stage are absent from this game.
* Akagi (Hard)
According to the Initial D Website, all CPU opponents race Akagi's Downhill only. This may be an error.
+ Kenta (S14) = Downhill, Rain, Day
+ Kyouichi (CE9A) = Downhill, Dry, Day
+ Keisuke (FD3S) = Downhill, Dry, Night
+ Ryosuke (FC3S) = Downhill, Dry, Night
* Akina (Hard)
According to the Initial D Website, all CPU opponents race Akina's Downhill only. This may be an error.
There is no longer a "Snow" racing weather condition for Akina.
+ Iketani (S13) = Downhill, Dry, Day
+ Kyoko (FD3S) = Downhill, Dry, Day
+ Wataru (AE86 Levin) = Downhill, Dry, Night
+ Ryosuke (FC3S) = Downhill, Rain, Night
+ Takumi (AE86 Trueno) = Downhill, Dry, Night
* Irohazaka (Hard)
Because Irohazaka is a one-way road, all races are Downhill.

*looking at v3 akina* seems like it. if its just 4 hairpins then why does everyone keep saying the 5 hairpins- carry-over effect from terms in the anime???
someone should correct the wikipedia thing, ie isnt it not the real myogi in AS4?
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 15 2007, 08:00 PM|
|nooooooo USUI dont go, SHOMARU dont go, TSUCHISAKA dont go, happo you can go lol. damn, these maps being taken out as well as Snow is a big negative for me....|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 15 2007, 08:03 PM|
Yup. The Anime was the only one that uses 5 hairpins. The real course and the Arcade course and the manga course are all 4 hairpins.
|Posted by: 207 Mar 15 2007, 08:06 PM|
|lol and all this time the anime was wrong about it. its kinda funny how they make the 7 second iro jumps section seen like 2 minutes|
|Posted by: RX-7 Spirit fo sho Mar 15 2007, 08:15 PM|
| ugh i know what you mean guys
i don't want any of those tracks to go at all.
3. Akina Snow
4. Iro Reverse
can you believe that? i'm gonna really hate this game...i just know it already. i know i'm not even giving it a chance yet but seeing what they've done...i'm gonna hate it probably. and only like 3-4 added new. plus the physics are wack.
how does a car, driving normally have their rear end slide out at that angle. sure its a arcade game, but keep a little realism...its as if the front wheels were on a rail and the tail end were riding on ice.
ughhh version 4 seems like a huge disappointment to me.
even look at the cars they removed!
MY BABY SPIRIT!
and all the other cars...sigh
and even tezza's altezza!
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 15 2007, 08:32 PM|
| Is it me or am I the only one that seems to have not been affected lol
im happy with Iro and Akina being there.. but happo gone? o.O
shomaru and tsuchi thats fine ^^, and my 3 main cars throughout v3 are still there ^^ EG6, Evo4 and Evo3
|Posted by: GOSU+ Mar 15 2007, 09:11 PM|
|i'm not really like butt hurt lol but like i'm just kinda annoyed at how there are only like what 5 or 6 maps now, as for the cars i'm with you there HNGRY, my main cars havent been removed and the GDB's been replaced by the new one so i'm cool. just wish there was more maps, or they kept the old ones.|
|Posted by: Kaz01 Mar 15 2007, 09:38 PM|
|so still no word on that unknown plaza? i think its about an hour away from me but if its true imma go there sunday.|
|Posted by: RX-7 Spirit fo sho Mar 15 2007, 09:52 PM|
| why would they degrade on an alraedy good game is what i want to know
i'm really sad
|Posted by: jinpak Mar 15 2007, 10:01 PM|
| yea Im not really hurt, Im actually really happy just cause its initial d.
|Posted by: Mister X Mar 15 2007, 10:04 PM|
| Guys, that is a big negative on ID4 at UCI. Heck, there isn't even an arcade there right now.
The UCI arcade has been under renovation for nearly 2 years, and is still at least 6 months away from completion.
All the information booth people I asked said that its the only arcade on campus, so if ID4 had been at UCI, it would be here.
Also checked Boomers Irvine. Still have the broken V3 machines.
|Posted by: RX-7 Spirit fo sho Mar 15 2007, 10:05 PM|
| well i'm hurt because its not the initial d that we all know and love. its not the initial d we grew up with.
its totally diff from v1. v2. and v3. sure the physiccs was always different but this is just...ugh. i'm too shocked to even go on. what are they doing to ID. i expected too much from this.
i expected more new cars, new tracks WITH the old ones. more options n stuff, similar physics, better graphics and stuff too
all i really want are the old tracks back with similar physics. i don't care about tst, and eraser, we'll go back old school and learn how to race like for realz. with good line, speed control, braking, engine decel, gear shiftin n stuff. i'm really disappointed
|Posted by: jinpak Mar 15 2007, 10:09 PM|
the guy said it was on the way to UCI, not the actual arcade at the campus itself, have hope!!
|Posted by: Mister X Mar 15 2007, 10:53 PM|
Mesa Drive is all of 2 blocks long, all on UCI campus. ID4 isn't there.
|Posted by: Arcy Mar 15 2007, 10:57 PM|
| who cares... wait till you play it before passing judgment! SHESH !!!!
Sure happo is gone but maybe tsukuba will be a decent replacement. If people wanted version 4 to be similar to version 3.. then just play version 3 !!!!
I like version 4 because it's different then the rest. It's an arcade game...
Want to play a simulator game? Get a real car and go togue or something....
...or YOU CAN reserve your copy of FORZA MOTORSPORTS 2 on xbox360!!!!! (shameless plug)
|Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 15 2007, 11:07 PM|
they didnt say anything about taking irohazaka reverse out....it only said you can not verse AI oppenents on irohazaka reverse just like V2 and V3..caus it wasnt in V1
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 15 2007, 11:22 PM|
If thats true, thats a relief.. iro rev is slowly becoming a fav course for me
|Posted by: ChaosAngel Mar 15 2007, 11:27 PM|
|lolz v4 doesnt really affect me, except tat tsu has been removed.....but jsut think of it as a whole new game......|
|Posted by: zAE86BoYz Mar 15 2007, 11:42 PM|
|maybe in the future there will be online firmware upgrade, so maybe the courses and cars may come back. that what im hoping for.|

|Posted by: Arcy Mar 16 2007, 06:40 PM|
|I'm thinking that the new people *don't know the company name* is starting over on this arcade version. They don't want to follow the previous version by adding stuff so it's like starting over (like IDASv1) even dropped the version part. Maybe the reason they took out the levels and cars is because if they make a AS5 then they'll put them back with more cars and even newer levels? Or are they even bothering with a IDAS5?|
|Posted by: Ryu Fujiwara Mar 16 2007, 06:58 PM|
|I cant wait till arcade stage 4 comes the I hope there will be custom tuning to where u build ur car with any parts u want not just picking a body kit and the more points u get the more parts in the body kit u get i wanna mix different parts and make kiueske's new fd With his old parts mix and to tune up my car the way i want it if its not like that its a 9 out of 10 for me|
|Posted by: zippo729 Mar 16 2007, 08:15 PM|
| well, my two cents here is this.
the old adage "everything happens for a reason" applies here.
I consider Japanese people to be very intelligent, and the people who made ID in the first place are certainly no exception.
there's one of a few problems to consider.
If the customization of the cars is as deep as some are saying, there may not have been enough space in the arcade game to include every car+ new ones and every track + new ones plus brand new graphics, brand new physics, character motion in the pre/post race scenes, mountains of different card designs....the list goes on.
mind you, they scrapped some of the cars, and did provide a couple new ones, which might suggest they were trying to save face after running out of space possibly? Same for the tracks?
Some have suggested that this be a new game altogether and it should be looked at as one instead of a continuation of v3 missing some elements. that'd be a good way to look at it since no one really knows the whole scoop of it except sega themselves.
others have suggested an online upgrade as time progresses. that's theoretically possible, but don't you think they would've advertised it with the game's release to encourage more buying of the cabs?
i mean, i don't know, this is all just my opinion-something to think about. i'd guess there's a better reason behind in than most give them credit for, as arcy mentioned on the previous page but who knows.

| i cant wait to play in this zone i forget the namehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5FPyxgKkzI and myogi the real one and akina lake and i wanna race
takumi on the last zone
|Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 16 2007, 08:58 PM|
| ^It's not the true Myogi. That was established already. Nonetheless, this Myogi seems fun still.
I also want to ask those who have played. It seems that the S2000 is the "new rx8." Is that true?

| Hey Braja I'm on the version 4 thread! Finally!

|The first place in southern california to get v3(alittle over a month after release in japan) was in little tokyo. I belive its called japan arcade. its in the mitsuwa complex so if anyone lives close by to downtown LA maybe they mite have a clue. plus they only have japanese games so ID4 has to be in their list.|
|Posted by: Ryu Fujiwara Mar 16 2007, 09:35 PM|

|ok well still no "NAME" of the plaza or anything that mesa rd or w/e on the way to UCI in irvine. but some good news or a lil shine of light at the end of the tunnel is that my friend will go to that plaza where he saw the AS4 with his own eyes and take pictures, get me the address, and the name of the plaza. sadly he's going to irvine on sunday. so bare with me here.|
|Posted by: jinpak Mar 16 2007, 10:35 PM|
tell thanks for your friends, and tell him to get as much info as possible!!
And has anyone been to the arcade in the mall at little tokyo LA?? Their arcade is known for importting all their machines straight from japan pretty quick, like they did with V3, anyone been there lately??
|Posted by: Excel Mar 16 2007, 10:51 PM|
| I just saw a new video of V4, driver is friends with 4G63, from team MC - his name is in kanji, so most of you wouldn't be able to see it.. Judging by the line he takes, he knows what hes doing. The video is Akina UH dry with a DC2, finishing time of 3'09'0, so its pretty fast(I think).
Anyways, it looks like the general strategy is to just fully turn into the corner and downshift half way through, so you lose speed from the downshift and from the loss of traction. Its still alot of full gas, and you mainly just lose speed by downshifting. If its a corner after a long straight, you grind the apex a bit to lose more speed.
I won't post the video because I don't have 4G's permission, but perhaps he will post it later.
|Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 16 2007, 10:55 PM|
| o_o so dc2 is average in as4??
is the IR site up yet??
|Posted by: Excel Mar 16 2007, 11:02 PM|
|Well, it looks like the world record is a 3'07'high - its kinda hard to tell from the video - so its quite possible... atleast on Akina Uphill.|
|Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 16 2007, 11:12 PM|
| lol nice
jus saw this on youtube
|Posted by: Braja Mar 17 2007, 02:43 AM|
that sounds pretty damn fast and pretty rare. but i know of one DC2 who was a total badass. i'd know him if i saw him. his better car was the R34 though.
anyway you cant say too much without seeing footwork. thats the real key of the game. how much braking when to brake, when to just pump the gas, etc. and the cheap trick of this game (still cant do it myself so didnt wanna go sayin anything) is most pros dab the brake real quick right after a turn. at the same time they release the gas. its like shifting in a real car, but using the brake instead of a clutch. really weird but when you're racing someone you can see brake lights AFTER the turn rather than before. they end up getting a big speed boost. i can get it to work on akagi's hairpins and 1-2 other places but still cant do it everywhere like the pros.
anyway enough blabber. point is footwork makes the driver, not just turn angle
|Posted by: hngrY Mar 17 2007, 02:55 AM|
|the new evo looks pretty neat|
|Posted by: Manix Mar 17 2007, 11:07 AM|
|This is just a stab in the dark here, but maybe cars and tracks (and hopefully new songs too) can be unlocked?|
|Posted by: jinpak Mar 17 2007, 11:32 AM|
|yep thats a stab in the dark. the pitch black dark|
|Posted by: Kfuse Mar 17 2007, 11:51 AM|
| Yea thats definately not happening I know sega rosso wouldn't be that silly to force people to unlock stuff in ID.
And as far as the game hitting stateside would you really wanna play a jap cart thats been imported? I mean could any of you read it wait nevermind figured they would put english symbols in there for cases like these still I'm just gonna wait for a gameworks location to get since I'm right here in phoenix. I'm pretty sure there gonna get it cuz its sega's own little arcade setup down here.
and I hope they improved the SW20 man that is one great car I'm so using it again in AS4.
|Posted by: Ryu Fujiwara Mar 17 2007, 02:12 PM|
yeah the only unlockables they would put is project d takumi K.T and Bunta like they always do there gonna do that they only made a unlockible track in stagen1 or 2 i forgot wich one lol
|Posted by: ChaosAngel Mar 17 2007, 02:32 PM|
| y would they have pplz to unlock stuff in an arcade game?? thats just ridiculous.........they might have it if it was on a ps2/3/xbox360 or something but definitly not in an arcade game. well the only one i know of is ghost squad but not many pplz play that
n i dont think u'll can unlock bunta because its already unlock???
n the tracks........if u can unlock tracks (which i highly doubt) u wont be able to vs other players on tat course, because theres a chance that they havent unlocked it..........n the change of physics = change of course, sega is gonna ahve a long time to get the course adjust to the physics n i doubt they would do that when they can start working on a IDAS5??
|Posted by: dragonsho Mar 17 2007, 03:05 PM|
You would be able to play it. In version 2, if the person challenging had Iro Reverse unlocked and the other didn't you could still play it.
Well I know I'll be able to play it when Eng version comes out. First arcade in NE to get it will be Tokyo Game Action as far as I know.
|Posted by: SatoKakashi Mar 17 2007, 05:55 PM|
