Long time no see.

Needless to say life has been mindlessly hectic in the last few years, to the point I barely keep up with my own forums - DOBC. I've got a rare patch where I'm not doing a shedload of work, and I'm going spare with nothing to do, so I thought I'd drop by.

Some updates:

1) I live in Queenstown, after having done a year in Dunedin (aka Dunhole). This is the Adventure Capital of the world hands-down, and an incredible place to live...albeit very expensive. Paying rent in a damn nice house; Reuben and I are essentially DOBC South Island HQ, and most of the QT clan spends most of their time over here giving their cars love.

2) I've got three Subarus now; we're collecting the third in a few weeks. My sister finally got given her BC5 Legacy, which she cried over, and the family got running. Now she's moved to Australia to do a Masters in Psychology so uh...she's gonna be occupied for a while biggrin.gif We'll be babysitting her BC for the next...six years or so. It'll be returned to her as a fully restored classic.

3) About to switch jobs, WOO. I've been promised a pretty delicious position which will become Creative Director; which also means I'm gonna have EVEN LESS time to chill with folks on forums. Damnit.

4) The other Subies are still going strong:

There was a bit of an incident with Shale, though; some nupty cut me off and has no insurance, and is being a belligerant arsehole about it. It's still going through the throes, but the Police and my Insurance company agree with my side of the story. Once he stops yelling at people things can progress and I can get my excess refunded.

New paint looks FANTASTIC though!

In short, things are going well these days... but being an adult strips one of goofing-off time.

If anyone's ever on an adventure holiday in Queenstown...hit me up. There's a wee DOBC home for everyone here biggrin.gif

It's a bit of a car, yeah biggrin.gif Love every moment of owning and driving it.

Should be getting the Brembos soon; I think it'll be the first thing I do once this blasted excess refund comes through.

I honestly can't remember what you were driving it was so long ago...may have been the Z, or a Z...it's been too long.

KEEN. There's epic skiing here given how many fields there are, and in summer there's even more activities to enjoy. Or even just road tripping in this amazeballs place.

I'm pretty sure the last time I saw you around, my car was still burning regular old pump gas on a stock motor...

Good to have you back, even if it is only temporary!

Thank you thank you! Man some things have changed around here, glad to see the software itself looks the same after all these years though, haha.

We're looking forward to looking after the little grey beast, it's an awesome car and I think she does miss it.

It's rough as hell on the outside right now but we're going to respray the crapped-out surfaces in the correct colour.

Actually, on the note of 'last time you visited, I was driving a ____'... who wants to turn this thread into a before-and-now to catch me up? wink2.gif

As y'all can see, nothing's changed here aside from my Impreza having better paint.

Same Evo...

Bottom end is now assembled of all forged components and race-spec bearings, head has mild duration, mild lift cams, and I've upgraded to a (now) freshly rebuilt Evo IX turbo with upgraded oiling ports.

And yes, it absolutely rips. Up this spring is the first round (and possibly last) of suspension mods, an upgraded intercooler, and a professional tune instead of the mild self-tune that's on the ECU now. Then later over the summer, the t-case... Again. This time more bulletproof.
