About a month ago, I bought a "sealed" Millennium Box off eBay for $50 after shipping. I was going to just leave it sealed in case I ever decided that I didn't want it (I already burned copies of all the included discs), but last week I got the urge to open it, and ended up doing so.

To my utter disappointment, I found that the cases and a couple of the discs had scratches and fingerprints on them, obviously indicating that they had been re-sealed. To be fair, everything is still in phenomenal condition, but the point is that I didn't get what I paid for. I'm currently trying to get a partial refund for this scam, so I'll let y'all know how that goes.

The seller's username is vipcalling. Here's the listing I bought. ebay.com/itm/232072187213?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I know it doesn't help any after the fact, but...

Any retail slave would be able to recognize that as a resealed CD box. I'm not saying you work retail, but as someone who did, I could spot a repack that bad a mile away. You're a month out of your purchase but here's hoping something can be done. Otherwise, ya live and learn.

I compared that listing to my own genuine set. Those aren't even the correct labels for the Millenium Box Set. Genuine labels for that set are black with color coded text corresponding to the disc. Hell, the Second Stage D Selection spine is completely fucked up from somebody typing over the existing "D Selection 3" text from the previous label!

You got doubly screwed. It was never sealed in the first place because it's a fake.

It being a fake could wind up being important in the ebay dispute, since fingerprints and scratches a month after buying it (even if you didn't open it) would be kind of flimsy to whoever is handling the dispute.

If the seller wants you to ship the item back then you should insist they pay for the shipping.

I think eBay/Paypal sometimes judge these cases in terms of who has/can generate more revenue for them rather than the facts at hand, and his 100% feedback rating could be important. That said, eBay very often sides in favor of the buyer. GL

Here's a bit of info on Miya Records

QUOTE (discogs)
A record company based in Taiwan that releases unlicensed (bootleg) popular Asian (usually Japanese) music, including many game and anime soundtracks.

Official Initial D Eurobeat shiz will always either come from 2 sources: The Eurobeat Studios themselves or Avex.

Ebay's always shady as ferk ~ albeit cheap ~ for brand new official ID-Euro shiz, always shop Amazon JP or CD Japan Mr357. wink3.gif

As far i know, the Millennium Bow was never sold officialy, say me if i'm wrong.
I got mine for 70€, the box have wear of glissure sbut the case and cd looks brand new.
You can still replace the case.

It's the SONMAY Records Ltd.
It was from a french girl fan of Initial D who his friend bought her CDs in the early 2000 in store specialized in japanese stuff without knowing it was bootleg.

"Lorsque j’étais étudiante, il était très difficile de trouver des musiques d’anime ou de J-pop : pas d’internet ou de plateforme à la pomme pour acheter la musique ultime. Il fallait forcément passer par des boutiques spécialisées pour pouvoir se fournir en CD. Le problème majeur était bien évidemment le prix, et il n’était pas rare à l’époque d’acheter, sans le savoir, des copies."

Fast Google translation :
"When I was a student, it was very difficult to find music anime or J-pop: no internet or platform to Apple to buy the ultimate music had to necessarily go through specialty shops for power. will provide on CD. the main problem was of course the price, and it was not uncommon at the time of purchase, bootlegs"

Indeed ~ back in college c.2003~2007 Amazon JP & CD Japan weren't what they are now. I myself bought a ton of bootleg anime DVD's from Hong Kong simply cause it was the cheapest & easiest way to get 'em.

★ The temptation of eBay is still there but... just tread carefully 'cause you never know what you get until it's in your hands. Avex owns all Initial D Eurobeat ~ and they region lock the fsck out of it to Nippon only sales -- so bootleggers take advantage & sell their shoddy goods from HK half-way 'cross the world to America & Europe.

★ The thing is Avex aren't evil ~ they're just dinosaurs. Fortunately we can take advantage of the progress shipping & e-commerce has made in the last decade ~ & order a brand new spiffy copy of Initial D Music from Amazon JP or CDJ. happy.gif

Jumping into the party late, but as other people said, MIYA Records is a bootleg label. They've done tons of releases, including VOCALOID ones (I have a couple myself). Definitely throw that information into the dispute. I'll go ahead and be that asshole and report the listing as counterfeit if he puts it back up.

Update on this:

I got a full refund earlier today, and thankfully didn't have to pay for the return shipping. Thank you all for pointing what I should've taken 30 seconds to look up.
