What distinguishes an Evo from just a regular Lancer? And could one install Evo parts in a regular Lancer?

the Evo usually comes with a slightly larger engine, turbo and a 4wd drivetrain. Also comes with full body kit, wheels, and a sports interior package, with bucket seats, momo steering wheel. Exhaust is better and engine management is tuned for performance.

In theory, you COULD put all that stuff on a normal lancer, but you would probably end up paying more, so you would be better off just getting an Evo, as it would be less hasstle to do, and easier to register adn insure.

Yeah, it makes me wonder why you call a Lancer a Lancer, and why you call an Lancer-EVO a Lancer-EVO when they are so different.

Lancers also have extensive strenghtening work done to the body, and several lightweight components.

still, they share the same body (basically). Also, it helps to improve sales of normal lancers. When people see the Lancer win in rallies, then people want to go out and buy them more, even though its a completely different car.

I'm not sure but I think it's 'cause in the first generations of the car, it did share the chassis with the standard Lancer sedan. I dont know when the EVO got its own platform.

to my knowledge (i could be wrong) the new Evos use the same base chassis with modifications made to it.

According to Mitsu the Lancer in terms of size is larger than the Mirage but smaller than the Galant. Toyota has TRD(Toyota Racing Development), Nissan has NISMO(NIssan MOtorsports), and Mitsubishi has RalliArt, but does anyone know where the RalliArt name came from?
