It's not about breaking a law here or there, it's about intentionally going out and breaking a laundry list of them at once and then BRAGGING about it.

Speed limits are more like...guidelines. No, really, in some places here it's written into law that they are.

But honestly, s12, the point here isn't FUCK THE AUTHORITY or HURR SO YOU NEVER BREAK ROAD LAWS HUH? or any of that nonsense. There is--in my opinion--a huge difference between exceeding the posted limit by 5-10 MPH and doing something like blasting through a red light, driving between lanes, ignoring lane markers, failing to signal, running without lights, tailgating...

But hey, if you're okay with those sorts of things because you don't think that the majority of road laws are for the safety of yourself and everyone around you? Then that's just another wonderful reason to never been in the same place you are.

No one's claiming to be perfect here but we don't need to be to point out that what this guy did was incredibly stupid and dangerous, as well as being absolutely illegal.

Your argument that because we've no doubt broken speed limits and aren't perfect drivers somehow means that what this guy did wasn't wrong and that he doesn't deserve punishment is just plain retarded.

When many people is doing it and getting away from it, it is kinda unfair that only he was charged.

Well, they wanted to make an example out of him just to deter future speeders.

The police are still pursuing him, and since his move to Canada, are even more irate and have even started accosting his wife.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A man's viral video of his 100 miles-per-hour lap around Manhattan landed him a guilty verdict with a court in New York. Adam tang was convicted of reckless endangerment and reckless driving, but he wasn't in town to hear the verdict. The man known as "Afroduck" told Eyewitness News that police will have to come to Canada to get him. He's used to driving fast, but Adam Tang is now officially on the run from the law. "The biggest lesson that I learned through all this is that if the cops come knocking at your door, don't cooperate. I mean what kind of society is that?" Tang said. From an undisclosed location in Canada, the 31-year-old told Eyewitness News he wasn't about to go to jail for his 24-minute trip around the island of Manhattan last August. It's a trip he took in his BMW Z4 at speeds of up to a hundred miles per hour. He shot it with his dashcam and then uploaded it to YouTube under the pseudonym Afroduck. "I mean, sure, maybe I did a stupid thing, I thought it would be cool, in hindsight New Yorkers would appreciate it, but do you think what I did was dangerous?" Tang said. Police said yes and using his computer's IP address tracked him down a week later. At trial earlier this week, he says he was tipped off the jury was rigged and skipped out of town. The jury convicted him in absentia. "Adam Tang", DA Cyrus Vance said in a statement, "showed blatant disregard for our traffic laws, and this dangerous and illegal behavior, which he repeatedly flaunted online, placed lives at risk." "Yes I sped. I'm not going to deny that, but I took much precaution to make sure that I did it safely. To, to, brandish me," Tang said. But Tang insists he selected the early morning as a time when he wouldn't hurt anyone. He refuses to abide by the jury's verdict. He says if the Manhattan DA's office wants him in jail, they'll have to come get him. "If the, I guess for lack of a better word, the man wants to come down on you, this is the extent to which they'll do it in order to prove a political point," Tang said. Tang says that police are trying to go after his wife saying that she is "aiding and abetting" a fugitive. It remains to be seen if Canada will extradite Tang back to the U.S.

Just recently, he posted the original 25-minute run through NYC for everyone to see.
IMO, all I really believe he should be fined with is running 1 red light. [and perhaps multiple improper lane changes if the law is going to be that much of a hard-ass]
