I used to be excited for Diablo 3, but Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms did the forumal so much better. >_< I'd much rather have a Champions of Norrath 3.

It's definitely another option, but at this point in time I am not sure how polished they could get a third game, and people today want such new and weird shit that I don't think I would risk it.

The updated friends list and shared stash features alone are making this game almost as high as Battlefield 3 on my "must have" list. It's most definitely #2 at this point.

The auction house is also an intriguing addition. I'm wondering just how high players will jack up prices on top tier items. I remember how much a perfect Tyrael's Might armor cost on those "shady" item-selling sites (upwards of $50). I hope Blizzard has measures in place to keep sellers from holding ludicrously high reserves on items.

Economics and time (and farmers) will drop high prices to something more manageable, usually.

I'm waiting to see the complete skill trees now, mostly to see what kind of tweaking they did to the cheap-ass sorcs (teleport + static field = many broken MP games).

This being said, I can't wait to see where this goes.

and a good wrap-up and go trains of thought...

The concept that you could sell items in Diablo 3 for real money (or BNet eBalance), and pay subscription fees for other games... is outstanding.

I signed up for the beta after watching some videos of the latest build. This game is going to own my PC for a very long time once it finally releases.

I'd really just like to see how battlenet has changed for D3. Forming parties was a chore and half in D2 since you couldn't just create games as a group. You had to set up password-protected games and pass the info to people you wanted in the game, which took time since there was no specific menu system for messaging.

/f m hey guise join X game pass is Y plz

What a coincidence I happen to have an image that answers just that, hopefully they don't change it. Over on the right, the invite button. Party making, easy in D3?

SPOILER

That is a picture of what looks like a messenger service/friend list on the bottom right, which I already knew about. I want to see how things work during gameplay. Is there chat between yourself and players that aren't in your game? Can you send invites while in a game? How many friends can have?

Anyone else here playing the beta at the moment? Managed to score an invite via a friend being the coolest bro ever, and holy crap am I impressed so far (Blizzard being assholes and not having SEA servers aside). Biggest gripes I have at the moment that aren't connection related are the level cap (means I can't use all the fun crafting stuff past level 13) and having no one to play with, so hopefully there's some IDWers playing this at the moment.

Man...May 15th can't come fast enough. laugh.gif

(also, I can upload some screenshots of stuff if people want, but keep in mind I try to keep the settings low to compensate for the bullshit latency issues the beta has for SEA players.)

I've tried to obtain a beta key, but my multiple avenues all came up dead. This might be a sign from a higher power influencing me to stop thinking about Diablo and finish Mass Effect. tongue.gif

Screenshots of the class screens ahoy! (ignore the horrible names, that's just my friends and I being bored)

Well, this is certainly the last Blizzard game that I'll be buying unless they make some pretty dramatic changes.

After all the promises of extra servers and such to alleviate the (crappy) decisions to not have SEA servers and have the game be run on Blizzard's servers, therefore requiring a constant (good) connection to even play single-player, they haven't come through on any of it. An average of 600ms latency with spikes of around 2000ms in single-player is NOT acceptable for any game, let alone one that they've charged $80 for.

Yes, I'm slightly bitter, why do you ask?

I haven't had any latency problems at all today. My SP campaign has been silky smooth for hours.

You're not a SEA player.
