Greetings IDW,

It's been a long time since I've addressed the forum from the heights of the modcastle, but I've seen the comments and figured it would be a good idea to canvas the membership for their opinions on the matter.

A few weeks ago, I added roughly one dozen words to the forum's "bad language" filter, targeting many words that are frequently used, to see what would happen. The results were hilarious enough to keep the filter around for much longer than the 24 hour period I originally intended. Please note that there was never any sort of goal or reason for the filter being brought back up. It was a joke, and nothing more.

However, I've also noticed that it's turning some valid communications into a jumbled mess. The music section in particular was unable to talk about Eurobeat due to a filter that changed it to "country music" any time it was typed. I have removed that term from the filter as of this morning. I also got to observe some methods members used to circumvent the filters. )

What do you guys think? Should the filter stay as a "feature" of the site, or should it be taken out back and shot? Voting lasts until Saturday morning, after which I will honor the results and take appropriate action.

Don't care about the filter as long as punishments aren't handed out for bypassing it. It's a joke filter, so there shouldn't be any repercussions for avoiding it.

Why bother putting M L P as a bad language?

For the record, I did not filter that term. Remember that I'm not the only admin.

Nobody will ever be warned for circumventing it. I made a joke earlier to N1 but I don't think it was received well due to being a somewhat old reference.

Sure it is, you just have to take us less seriously. whistling.gif

That's not by any means a suggestion though. laugh2.gif laugh2.gif laugh2.gif

Voted don't care... Doesn't affect me as I don't use those words anyway. Well I did use a different form of "excrement" once, and I got warned for it ( was more of a joke than a warn tongue.gif ).
