Request Title - PM Mods Group: Members Posts: 447 Member No.: 23,877 Joined: Apr 3rd 2007 Location: Georgia | MOAR MONDAY ********** Natsuki felt her head dipping lower and lower, her eyelids feeling as heavy as if there were mountains of granite dragging them shut, until finally her hand slipped out from underneath her chin and her head impacted the desk with a dull thud. She sat up, leaning back in her chair, and forced her reddened eyes open before giving up and shutting them, balling her fists up and rubbing her sore eyes as tears oozed down her cheeks. “I can't do this anymore,” she said quietly, afraid to awaken the wrath of the librarian or some of the other students around her. University wasn't supposed to be like this. It was supposed to be fun, hanging out with friends and partying at night and attending a few short easy classes during the week to keep money coming from the parents at home. It wasn't supposed to be back-breaking mind-numbing work, writing papers and essays over and over again, studying for hours until your eyes couldn't stay open any longer. “I kind of brought this on myself,” she admitted, and it was the truth. After discovering that she had a latent love for ancient history, others had soon exploited her into doing their homework for them, and Natsuki, so used to trading something of herself for someone else's money, had fallen back into the trap she had struggled so hard to climb out of. Frustrated, she closed her massive texts, privately cursed at the professor for not allowing the use of the Internet, and quietly ran outside. She slumped against the sun-warmed stone of the building and collapsed on the ground, abandoning herself to tears. She had no friends, no companionship, no one who took an interest in her unless it was for her body or her ability to do homework. After having cried out all her frustrations and anger, she sat there for a few moments lost in her thoughts, staring at the clouds as they whisked past in the sky. Finally, a thought pierced through her mental fog as brilliant as the sunlight pouring down on her face. “Break is coming up. I'll go to Gunma and visit Takumi,” she said happily. “He'll cheer me up.” * As the AE86 and AW11 lined up for another attack of the downhill, Takumi suddenly sneezed. Fumihiro looked at him with concern. "Are you okay?" he asked. Takumi wiped his nose for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's start the race. I'm going to obliterate this guy." Nice twist! Takumi is developing his new attack isn't he? He'll sneeze and the AW11 will fly off the mountain. Nice update, cant wait for MOAR. |

Multiple tornadoes and tornado warnings, $1.5 million USD in damages in the city, more damage in outlying counties. While I haven't seen a tornado today, we've had the sirens going off almost constantly. Try writing a fic when you're huddled in the only lower-level room in your house devoid of windows with your family and three dogs. ********** Takumi put his foot to the floor and kept up the increasingly-violent chase as the AW11 began to pull farther and farther away. “How dare he do that,” Takumi swore, anger narrowing his eyes into thin slits as he nursed the wounded hachi-roku and tried everything he could to catch up again. As his panda Trueno rocketed past the galleries, the crowds screamed in disbelief. At the peak of Mt. Akina, the news began to filter up. “Tell me what happened!” Keisuke demanded, shouting into the radio. Corner ten chimed in with the information. “The AE86 was taking the inside line in full drift with zero countersteer when the AW11 accelerated ahead and nudged it, placing his front bumper even with the rear wheel of the hachi-roku. The AE86 spun out but recovered, but I don't think he'll be able to pass.” Keisuke's grip tightened on the radio until the plastic began to squeak and creak under protest. Ryosuke took the radio from his aggravated brother and clicked it on himself. “Corner twelve, can you tell me about the AE86's behavior on entering the corner?” he asked. “Sure. I see headlights. The AW11 is coming in hot, I don't see it braking. It's spinning now, outside tires in the dirt, no brakes on. He's gone to open throttle. I don't see the hachi-roku yet. Where is it? Where is the hachi-roku?” “How far back can he be?” Fumihiro asked Keisuke. “Here he is! Ten seconds behind. The right rear quarter panel is shattered, I guess the wheel is scraped because I can see a flash of bare metal, tire I can't tell because it's moving too fast. He's entering hot, no brakes. Wait, there he goes, heavy braking and full throttle at almost the same time. Hachi-roku is rotating, he's bounced the outside tires off the dirt. He's at full throttle, I can't see him anymore. Is that alright, Ryosuke-san?” the radio operator asked. “It is,” Ryosuke answered, handing the radio back to Keisuke. “Don't worry,” he said, “he'll pass Masaru.” * “You hit my car, you spun me out, and now you're going to try and win because you cheated,” Takumi growled, pumping his foot on the throttle to keep up the insane drift as he screamed around the corner. Driven by his anger he tightened his gap from five centimeters down to a single centimeter between the front of his car and the guardrail, slashing the amount of course he had to drive. The AW11, which had been running away without pause, had been stopped and was now growing as the hachi-roku grew closer. Takumi had abandoned using both hands on the wheel and was now driving entirely with one hand, his other manipulating the shifter as fast as possible to keep the car in the powerband. The AW11 flew through the sweeper at full throttle, Masaru lifting off the throttle a hair to lighten the rear end and steepen the slip angle of the mid-engine machine in order to be properly lined up for the corner exit. The hachi-roku entered the sweeper in something between drift and grip, tires at the limit of their adhesion or a little bit past, Takumi's right hand on the wheel and left on the shifter. By the corner exit the two cars were almost bumper to bumper, and as they dove into the final turn before the hairpins, the hachi-roku was able to place its front bumper even with the AW11's door. “Try and pass me,” Masaru growled, diving into the gutter and screaming through the hairpin. Takumi followed, the hachi-roku gaining thanks to its lower center of gravity due to the carbon fiber roof. The two whipped through, popped out of the gutter in unison, and dove into the next hairpin. Again the two cars raced through, the AE86's nose glued to the AW11's rear bumper. Masaru began to sweat, but he forced himself to remain calm. “This is where he wins. Either I keep calm and win like I'm supposed to, or I freak out, he exploits it, and I lose. I can do this,” Masaru said, tightening his grip on the small wheel. It was a custom wheel, a smaller diameter than stock to quicken the car's response to his inputs, and covered in suede so sweat-soaked hands wouldn't slip on it. Masaru buried the throttle and dove for the third hairpin. “How can I pass him?” Takumi asked himself, his mind's eye racing ahead to try and figure out a line. Suddenly he realized it. It had never been possible before. Only the car's new stiff and strong chassis with the lowered center of gravity could do it, and only single-handed steering could initiate the proper drift. It could be done, but if he screwed up, there would be no more hachi-roku. Masaru dove into the fourth hairpin and opened up the throttle as quickly as he dared, one eye half-focused on the rearview mirror to keep the hachi-roku under supervision. When the AE86's lights suddenly disappeared, it wasn't surprising. The next thing he saw scared him out of his skin. This post has been edited by thx712517 on Mar 15 2008, 05:14 PM |

Request Title - PM Mods Group: Members Posts: 447 Member No.: 23,877 Joined: Apr 3rd 2007 Location: Georgia | That's because when I conclude this fic it will also conclude my fan fiction writing for Initial D, save for a collaborated piece with Red Comet 7. ************** Takumi breathed deeply, shut off his headlights, and executed his plan. It would either win or fail, there would be no middle ground. Rather than dive for the gutter as Masaru had expected, he pushed the AE86 into a drift he had never attempted before, passing through the hairpin turn faster than the gutter-hooking AW11, overtaking the lightweight sports car before letting his foot off the throttle long enough to weight-shift the AE86 into the final hairpin, the rear tires screaming in pain as they fought for traction. The AW11 and the AE86 thundered through the hairpin side by side, their mirrors scraping against each other as they rocketed through, streaking through the final turn in a parallel drift and powering down the straight. Takumi kept his foot to the floor, hoping that the 4A-GE would do him one final favor. The two Toyotas raced down the final straight dead even, until finally the AE86 crept forward centimeter by centimeter and crossed the line half a second in the lead. As the two cars rested from their exertions, Takumi walked over to the AW11. “What do you have under the hood?” he asked. Masaru opened the rear of the MR2 and revealed a normal 4A-GE, the same kind in the Trueno before the engine blow. “You almost beat me with that?” Takumi asked. “I guess I should have taken some more weight out of my car,” Masaru replied. “More?” “My car weighs 790 kilograms and has a fully customized suspension. I ran out of money before I got to the engine. I know about your motor, but what did you do to your chassis?” Masaru asked. “It was stiffened,” Takumi replied. “They did a good job. I was counting on you being unable to pass me in the hairpins. My whole strategy was built around blocking you through those hairpins. I had hoped that my MR layout would help me a bit with acceleration, but it wasn't enough for me to destroy you. I had to hope you would get tired and screw up, but you didn't. How did you turn like that?” “When I got my car back it had all the body panels replaced with carbon fiber, even the roof. It lowered the center of gravity enough for me to drift through the hairpin faster than I could by hooking into the gutter. I wasn't sure it would work but I had to try since you blocked me so well on the gutter. You're a good driver,” Takumi said, smiling at the first person who had truly and honestly forced him into a disadvantage on his home course. “When will you race again?” Masaru asked. “I don't know,” Takumi replied. “It's been a while since I had a true challenge like the one we've just had. Maybe I need to be more exclusive with my races. Maybe it's the opposite. Maybe I don't need to be racing at all,” Takumi said quietly. “What do you mean?” Masaru asked, shocked. “I was hoping to be picked up by a racing team by now. It should have happened months ago, but it didn't. It may never happen. I need to find another skill, something I can get paid for. I'll go help my dad with the tofu shop until I can figure out what it is I'm supposed to do.” As he was walking away, Ryosuke laid a hand on Takumi's shoulder. “Are you sure?” he asked. “I am,” Takumi replied. Ryosuke lifted his hand from Fujiwara's shoulder and continued walking to his FC. Takumi looked around at the crowd gathered at the foot of Mt. Akina with a lump in his throat, then sat down in the AE86, shut the door, and started the engine. He caressed the wheel softly, put the shifter into gear, and let out the clutch. “We did good.” * “The fastest on Mt. Akina?” Itsuki asked, taking off his glasses to wipe them before putting them back on and looking at Ayako, still holding the broom she had used to sweep the gas station parking lot. “Yes,” she replied, looking anxiously at him. “It's the big battle tonight and my AP1 is in the shop for that bumper I wrecked.” Itsuki smiled, his eyes misting over slightly at the old memories. “The fastest on Mt. Akina is the panda hachi-roku of the tofu shop,” he said. “Hachi-roku? I've never seen it and I've been racing there all my life,” Ayako responded angrily, thinking her manager was playing a joke on her. “He drives when everyone else is asleep. I rode with him, he taught me how to truly drive. If you want to find the fastest on Mt. Akina's downhill, than wait up until 4 AM and wait at the five hairpin turns. If you can catch him, he may help.” This post has been edited by thx712517 on Mar 15 2008, 07:21 PM |
