OST of the new season.

Interesting, won't that spoil the music used in the rest of the series? Or will Fifth Stage be over before this OST comes out?

Well, the album is Vol. 1 (full title didn't fit).

Fixed wink2.gif

Also, we can probably expect Gas Gas Gas and Runaway to appear on said soundtrack. CDJapan doesn't appear to have updated their catalogues to both include SEB221's new release date and this so...

But, still, I'm pre-ordering. wink2.gif

Still hoping for new stuff.

I just checked my Runaway mp3. Created 2008?!?!

Just in case you guys are interessed!
Just a note that CDJapan made a mistake in the weight and number of discs. I noticed them about it as I noticed them about this release too (ans SEB 221).

EDIT

I feel kind of bad of copy-paste posts like this but, hey, I need to make the information as seen and available as possible!

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Nov 12 2012, 08:32 PM
I will definitely be getting this. I Hope they release sound files too. Im liking them a lot this season.

Posted by: Lebon14 Nov 13 2012, 10:48 PM
CDJapan just replied to me regarding the DVD. Apparently, "Someone misunderstood the description the record company supplied, but it does not include a DVD". So, yeah. 15 tracks CD only it seems.

Posted by: Todeshornisse Nov 14 2012, 03:31 PM
The tracklist would be interessting. But I think we will have to wait for that, huh?

I heard that there will be new tracks.
I wonder if it has to do with the future SEB 221...

Interestingly, the release date for this D SELECTION coincide with the air date of Episode 7 & 8. There are only two Eurobeat tracks used in Episode 1 & 2. Assuming there will be more actions in the episodes following and perhaps two new tracks every episode from here on. We will have 2 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 14 tracks including Episode 7 & 8. So yes, 15 tracks sounds about right, perhaps one of the episodes will have three new tracks. We'll have to wait and see.

Episode 1: Gas Gas Gas
Episode 2: Runaway
Episode 3: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
Episode 4: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
Episode 5: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
Episode 6: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
Episode 7: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
Episode 8: 2 New Tracks (Possibly +1)
--------------------------------------------
15 tracks total.

@Leoben
I don't know if this issue has even been discussed. But is ID really that dependent of the SEB series?

I always imagined that the writers/producers of the show pick songs directly from Eurobeat labels and not from the SEB pool of songs.

Posted by: Lebon14 Nov 18 2012, 07:00 AM
Do you remember 4th Stage? There was quite a bit of songs that never made it onto SEB (except maybe nonstop versions). Off my mind, I can think of "Mission Impossible" by Nick Mansel, "Takumi" by Neo, "The Fire's On Me" by Spock... the list goes on. The thing is that, these days, new tracks aren't produced as much as they used to. Now, it's like, a song is produced then it ends up on SEB. That's the feeling I get anyway.

Between SEB 170 and 220, SEB's fanbase dcreased to an incredibly low-level. I heard that barely 500 albums (or something that low) were sold each month when they used to sell thousands of copies during the golden times. Initial D might just give the series a boost and I hope that the fact that SEB 221 comes and the first volume soundtrack of the CD coming two weeks of each other is a good sign for that. So far, there's no new material and I think that it's disturbing.

Posted by: Todeshornisse Nov 18 2012, 11:05 AM
Only 500? Ok, I would have never thought that. That gives me a whole other picture of the music.

We were always dubbed nerds listen to this "Italian music only sold in Japan" but I never imagined that we were that ... how do I say ... lonely?

Keeping my hopes also up that ID will change this course a little, but else this really sounds like that this genre is somehow dying. With this possibly the last stage of the series ... facepalm.gif

Posted by: Lebon14 Nov 18 2012, 02:15 PM
I say 500 as an exemple but I remember the number being... very low. Eurobeat isn't as mainstream as it once was in Japan. Eurobeat is an underground genre now and we're still lucky though that there are indie labels still recording it. We are also lucky to still have Avex releasing material.

We are also lucky to still have Avex releasing material.

There's a couple ways to tackle this statement. You could say "yes, we are lucky that Avex is still releasing material" because it's extremely unusual for a major record label to continue to press and market albums that don't sell at least in the thousands, let alone just a few hundred (unless it's an intentionally limited edition). Honestly, even I find that remarkable. But at the same time, I refuse to say that we're lucky because while Avex is an important company for eurobeat, it's still just a company. When you get down to it, it's not about whether Avex releases eurobeat or not, it's about whether eurobeat artists release eurobeat or not.

Frankly, it should not matter whether Avex stops releasing eurobeat, because it's not as if the artists are quitting their craft. Especially when you consider that only a few hundred units are being sold - the artists could probably print CDs themselves at that kind of stock level. Still, you'd be a fool not to understand Avex's importance in the eurobeat scene. It's about more than making CDs available, it's also about marketing and exposure. They do a decent job of it, but if I had to complain, I'd say they cater to the dedicated fanbase a little too much. Well, maybe I should word that differently. I'm pretty satisfied with how they stay true to the fans, but I think they should focus on gaining some new ones and expanding their market. I would suggest marketing to more diverse audiences internationally, but that would be a difficult task, even for a major label like Avex.

At any rate, Avex is still an important figurehead in eurobeat, since they are responsible for the world's longest-running music compilation series of all-time, but don't equate them with the artists themselves. Eurobeat will not die if Avex tosses SEB. If it does, that's not Avex's fault. Art wants an audience but the size of that audience will vary. Eurobeat can always continue to survive, but it will depend on how small an audience the artists are willing to accept in order to continue making it. Will they stay true to the art they've been making and not let the size of their audience determine whether or not they will continue to make their music? Or will they take the more vain and money-centric route of ceasing to produce something when it no longer sells? That's the big question I have. We'll see the answer when the time comes, but I hope it doesn't come for a long time.

Posted by: Todeshornisse Nov 19 2012, 07:18 AM
With SEB now returning and the ID on its way we can at least enjoy 2013. Maybe our discussion here will even end with everything coming back in a better way. I have my hopes up.

I never said that Eurobeat was going to die without Avex. The problem isn't the Japanese following - that alone will provide Eurobeat for eternity. What I'm worried about is if the italians will still do Eurobeat without Avex. Of course, SCP, Dima, SinclaireStyle and Hi-NRG Attack are pretty sure to continue whatever the situation. The thing is that I fear that the Japanese are too-closed minded. They buy things within Japan and do things to be purchased within Japan and that reduces odds of them purchasing outside of Japan which can make selling digital and/or physical things difficult for the italian labels. And, that reduces the will to continue to do more music. You'll have to be real passionate to continue to do music under these circonstances and I hope the italian labels are still passionate enough to continue to do Eurobeat for us for a very long time, don't get me wrong.

P.S I might contradict myself in there @_@

A few songs get official extended threatment (Full Metal Cars and I Want To Feel) and some get their first CD release ever (DDD Initial D, Breakin' Out and Come On Baby). The rest are just re-release.

However, I just want to point out that "Full Metal Cars" got released in Extended digitally before on Delta's "Eurobeat Masters Vol.18".

For kicks, my ratings for each tracks :

1. DDD Initial D: ?
2. Gas Gas Gas: 9
3. Runaway: 10
4. I Want To Feel: ?
5. Bye Bye Girl: 10
6. On Your Wings: 10
7. I Can't Stop Loving You: 8
8. Full Metal Cars : 9
9. When The Sun Goes Down: 9
10. Breakin' Out: 7.5
11. Come On Baby: ?
12. Eyes Of Sky: 6
13. Up & Dance, Up & Go: 9

15. Rockin' Hardcoe: 10

I can almost release the CD before February LOL.

Still hard to say how many episodes are in Fifth Stage. After Episode 5 & 6 aired, then we'll have a better idea. It's very likely that D SELECTION 1 will only contains songs up to Episode 8 since the air date of that coincide with the album release date. So that seems logical. It wouldn't make sense if they release it when there are still songs that haven't been used in the episodes yet.

All signs are pointing to a 16-episode season, guys...

So if we have 5 songs used so far in 4 episodes, and there are 10 tracks left on the album to fill in with other episodes, that means this volume will cover the first 12 episodes of the anime. Obviously, there will be a volume 2, so I would suggest that we can conclude the anime will be around 24 episodes.

As for the tracklist itself, I am pretty happy with it. I'm pleasantly surprised to see I Want To Feel by Dave Rodgers, as I've always liked that song ever since hearing it on his Special Collection Vol. 3 (by the way, Lebon, it was released in extended form there, so there's actually nothing new with this one). I Can't Stop Loving You is a perfect example of the amazing tracks that were made in the 200s era of SEB. A really stunning song. And what can you say about Rockin' Hardcore? It's Fastway at his finest. Raw, wild energy, it's perfect. I can't wait to see what race that gets used in.

The other tracks I'm either not as familiar with or am indifferent to, so I'll have to check them out later. At any rate, I'm liking how this compilation looks and patiently await its release.

I was really hoping it was just a machine translation error regarding the "half of the series" description, but it's right on the nose.

前半 literally means "first half". There's no mistaking it.

Well, what's bad about that? It means we get a full ~24 episode series!

If they can manage to pad out 8 episodes with the 10 songs that are left unused (so far) on the soundtrack, you may be right.

Still, I have to wonder how they're going to cram everything that's been foreshadowed into a mere 24 episodes.

I don't, but all the reports I'm seeing indicate that Up & Dance, Up & Go and Rockin' Hardcore are 4 min edits. Both song's extended versions should be around 4:50 long.

The version of Up & Dance, Up & Go is probably the SEB version which was on 217, but the "real" extended version that SCP released on itunes is 4:50. Not sure what happened with Rockin' Hardcore though...

Posted by: Lebon14 Feb 14 2013, 06:44 AM
The real extended for Rockin' Hardcore is on IDAS5 Original Soundtrack disc 1. It has been released before, so, no worries there. For Up & Dance, Up & Go, I didn't expect the "Euroext. Ver." to be chosen so I'm not disappointed.

The only reason I don't is because I'm no longer invested in the format. I buy records instead. But, if something is only available on CD, I'll buy it if the price is right. Which, of course, in the case of SEB it isn't.

Practically the entire album is out already in some form or another, so it's not like it's hard to find copies of the songs on this CD in the way you want it ermm2.gif

hope well get vol2 w/ more ep. but i smell another "leave a couple songs out of the SEB stage selections and release them piece by piece in NON-stop initial d CD mix form" scheme afoot

I just got my copy in the mail today and it comes with 12-letter code. Anybody know what it is?

It's a promotional campaign. 20 Members will get something "Sainiri kaasen sheedo" by lottery, and if you send in code through android/iphone you can get a video. For the lottery one, you have you send it in through mail it seems. From past history, they don't send foreign things even if you try to send the codes through mail. For the lottery, I think you have to have both Fifth Stage vol. 2 and D Selection.

Which means that it's NOT an album rip.

@Slade Unfortunately, there are no known cheap way yet... the only way is the expensive ways of CDJapan and Amazon.co.jp... (~34$ a pop - doesn't include shipping)

Oh I knew it wouldnt be that cheap,I was just curious was the best place to buy it.I used to be able to find 1-4th stage at a place called Frank and Sons down here for 10 bucks a cd,but I havent seen any CDs lately at that place for a couple years now sad.gif

I just want 5th stage so bad tho,so willing to pay a lil bit more even the sound files too happy.gif

amiami.com has cheap shipping and the same prices as everywhere else. It's a good buy, given the current exchange rate.

Posted by: Takahashi Rensuki May 11 2013, 06:12 PM
Yesasia is better because they give free shipping unlike most sites. ermm2.gif

Well, YesAsia ships from China if memory serves while CDJapan ships... from, you guessed it, Japan. China has probably cheaper shipping cost worldwide so that's why they can get free shipping.

However, with CDJapan, you are 100% certain than your item is Japanese. On top of that, you can have points you can deduct from you next purchase. They even give you points for your birthday: "Hey, it's the month of your birthday, here's 300 points!" (1point = 1 yen). YesAsia doesn't do that. However, these days, US/CAD dollar seem to overpower Japanese yen so, like right now, 100yen = 1.01$US. For 2913yen, it's 28.68$US. A little bit cheaper than YesAsia. However, YesAsia put their handling charge already in the price, hence why it's a little more expensive.

For the US, on CD from CDJapan is, via SAL, 500 yen. So, roughly 4.92$US for shipping. which makes the grand total of 33.60$US. YesAsia is 31.75$US, btw. By the way, they use the same shipping method: SAL. Take 2-4 weeks to arrive.

Personally, I find it more worth the trouble and pay a couple of dollars more and have something back in return for future purcahse than just straight up save a couple of dollars and have nothing back in return...

Upgrade your browser to a 2013 browser and you should be fine. (Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 22, Chrome 28 or Opera 12 or any newer version of these browsers)

Posted by: mime Jul 13 2013, 02:48 PM
I have latest Chrome.

This happened to me once when I was sharing an album too. Way to fix it:

Uploaded needs to "right click" the file on MEGA and go to 'get link' he shared the link without the "File Key" box checked, which is why I can't get it. Not even sure how you all can get it without that checked.

Posted by: Lebon14 Jul 13 2013, 06:06 PM
Well, for me, each time I share something with Mega, I never uncheck any boxes and File Key is always checked by default. So now, it's not my fault.

Posted by: Pato24 Jul 13 2013, 06:25 PM

Of course it doesn't. The File Key isn't in the link... If you need to shorten your link, there are many way to dit. Just google it.

Posted by: Pato24 Jul 13 2013, 07:26 PM
Well, to me, when I click on that link (the one I got when I uncheck the File Key option), MEGA asks for the Decryption key, which makes sense. The first link I shared works just fine, I don't get why it is asking OP for the Decryption Key.

Also, MEGA uses HTML5. So, if OP is using something old like IE8 or FF3.5 or anything of the like, it's bound to NOT work.

Thanks for trying, but yea unless the box is checked nobody will be able to download. I'm not even sure how you guys bypassed the key entry? O_o. Unless nobody downloaded it.

I sent you a PM PATO, I don't want to spam this thread with more questions lol.
