I'm interested in doing another Top Gear challenge but how about we use Tuner cars such as the Mines GT-R and such. Anyway, I'm interested not sure if others are.

I'd be up for it. GT4 managed to find its way back into my PS2 recently.

It'll probably be price capped well below that mark.

How bout a race to see who gets the best time.

Rules should be like buying a new used car, completely stock. The only custom options are tires and GT oil. Something like that.

BTW we should all be using the same car on the same course.

Savvy?

Or do like a $2k cap with oil change on the car, then outfitted with S2s?

i like the idea of having the same car, and a cap on $ but how much and should we like use left over $ to tune our car w free oil change. or instead of same car we use same drive train , diff cars?

Same car takes the strategy out of it, which is what the challenges have always been about. They get the cars they feel best fit the theme inside the price range.

I have no problems tuning, but putting requirements like "same drivetrain" takes the strategy out of that, too.

Proposition: $15k cap, all cars and mods inside price range are open, price is all encompassing (tires, oil change, the works).

Well the problem is that most of us don't know how to tune properly(including me) so it might be unfair for some of us.

You won't be able to do much tuning on $15k, trust me.

I'd assume most people would buy a car that's between $3k-5k, then S3s are $7k, so at best case, that leaves you with $5k at best for what should be predominantly low-level handling mods, which don't give you a lot of options...

Well that makes sense I guess. So I guess one of us should start a separate thread for the challenge.

So how are we going to time it? Best lap or best overall time?

Here's what I think:

$15k cap. Includes car, oil changes, mods, tires, EVERYTHING.

There are normally 3 events per challenge, so first one could be a fastest lap on Deep Forest.

Any objections?

The one question I have, is how do we want to handle the following challenge choices? Decide on them all now, or as we go?

15k cap. You can do anything you want with the car. Tires and oil fall under the cost.

And fastest lap at Deep Forest and some other place.

MUST HAVE PHOTO PROOF OF YOUR TIME!

I'm going to post two times. One with controller and the other with DFP.

And list out all of your expenses when you post your time.

I'm down to like 1'30" currently, but I'm not making that official yet.

Hmm I'm down for this challenge. Also, when you've chosen your car you HAVE to stick with it. Also limits on cars, or just anything that can be bought below 15k, and any money left over for mods/oil change/tire right?

Hmm... sounds fair enough... 15K, Deep Forest... forward right?

Some other place... could we make it a bit Wangan-ish... like say SPECIAL STAGE R5 or something close to Deep forest like el Capitan?

Anything below 15k. When it comes down it it, unless you're only spending 4k on the car, it should be pretty close if people scroll down the used list instead of just buying the first possible option they see. That's a hint, BTW. Once you get about halfway down, I could see most of that stuff producing fairly close times. Also, most of the those cars also come with S2s, so you can skip a tire purchase if you want.

Yeah, forward.

And I like the idea of doing something different. Possibly even something on gravel, with dirt tires not being part of the cost. Only problem with that is that it could be severely biased toward a specific drivetrain, whereas tarmac's more fair. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
