So I'm trying to unlock this POS phone and I've followed all of the steps up to minute https://youtube.com/watch?v=Stl4A-ue5IE&t=4m26s of the following video →

However I'm unable to get the adb devices to authorize this junk of a phone.

Anybody have a clue how to get it working like the one in the video before I throw this scrap of circuits into the nearest T-Mobile store window and just get an iPhone at the Store?

Cause according to T-Mobile and HTC, and I quote... "oh haha! That feature's not supported in Android~ derp.gif"

My HTC One M9 is running the latest Marshmallow cause cellphone manufacturers are inept cunts HTC hasn't rolled out Nougat for this thing... orz

Also: as a side-note … I'm just trying to create a custom Notifications sound for the phone.

ya know a custom sound for when I receive Texts & Voicemails & WhatsApp's.

If we can do that without rooting this garbanzo can … well that'd solve the need to unlock the bootloader and root the device. sweatingbullets.gif

(That was sarcasm. Rather than saying 'some tools' and being ambiguous as fuck, you could probably try to actually walk Xiao through the process, or at least link to a guide that does so.)

I also tried setting-up a custom Notifications sound for my dad's OnePlus 3T (Nougat) & my mom's Galaxy S7 (Marshmallow) -- and I couldn't find anything that allowed me to switch the sound of the notifs ... ohmy.gif

Now I'm definitely getting an iPhone ~ cause it looks like out of the box ... you can only adjust a custom Ringtone and a custom Alarm sound but nothing for Notifications...

Which really doesn't make any sense cause what if I wanna put a Mega Man https://youtube.com/watch?v=-6B0nhIjvEw&t=17 sound FX whenever I receive a Text or a Voicemail instead of the stock HTC ones?

I already downloaded the Android SDK, all the HTC Sync Manager/Drivers, and Java from http://htcdev.com/ … and besides infesting my PC with useless adware & other junk that does nothing but making my compy have a stroke ~ It still doesn't work.

So yeah good-game HTC/Android ~ I really hate cellphone manufacturers for locking the ever living chastity-belt outta these portable mini-computers. God what hell is this a Playstation 4!? derp.gif

If you wanna do fancy shit with an iPhone you need to be jailbroken, and the ship is about to sail on that. The moment they stop signing firmware 10.2 you're fucked and have to wait for the next jailbreak ship, which might not be for a year or more.

Stock, you can change ringtone (global/per-contact), text tone (global/per-contact), voicemail, received email, sent email, tweet (if using official Twitter app), Facebook post (if using official Facebook app), calendar alerts, reminder alerts and AirDrop notifications. If you want to change other stuff, it's jailbreak time.

Non-jailbroken iPhones are irritating, but they piss me off less than Androids. derp.gif

This is exactly what I wanna do! And Android is locked so hard & un-rootable it's not even worth spending the 48-hours trying to do so even if it's eventually accomplished.

I love my dad's OnePlus 3T cause it's just like an iPhone 7+ … but that's exactly it, it's just like an iPhone 7+ with less customizability. laugh.gif

Yeah... that's tech-companies for you eh? sad.gif ~ I'm a give a shot at the iPhone cause it's at least more user friendly than Android & doesn't require a jailbreak for setting up custom Notifications sounds. ^^;

Be careful. You'll notice I didn't say you could change notification sounds. Those are very different. For instance, if I receive an email in my Gmail account, the Gmail app will pop a notification. I cannot change that sound. Similarly, if there's a news update in DereSute, it'll pop a notification, and I can't change that sound. Well, not stock, anyway.

You can only change the sounds I listed. You cannot customize notification sounds for third-party apps unless you are jailbroken.

Yeps mainly I just need custom Text & Voicemail sounds ~ everything else is just icing on the cake.

And texting on iOS is hella nicer to boot! grin2.gif

Okie dokie ~ I fixed the issue by tinkering with the locations of the files. I'll leave this here for people helping out those with Android phones or those who have Androids altogether.

1. Create a folder in your phone's Internal Storage named Android

2. Inside that folder create another folder named Notifications

3. Put your files inside that folder.

That's it ~ easier than calling HTC Tech Support for 6-hours with no avail … derp.gif ~ go fig

Yeah it was more pebkac on HTC and Android forum's fault for not even addressing the issue... or trying to go far beyond the problem & fixing a screw with a BFG. derp.gif
