Sorry to break a trend of individual drawer's threads tongue.gif , but this forum needs a general "drawing" thread...Most other forums I post at seem to have a thread like this, and it seems pretty sensable to me, compared to other general threads like the "Post your desktop" thread and the "Sig testing" thread...

Besides, if you're looking for some artistic inspiration, looking through one thread is neater than sifting through 60 seperate threads... wink2.gif

I feel like showing off my recent firearm drawing of an SVI 1911 and IMI Desert Eagle I worked on last week...

Nice.

I used to be big on drawing Superheroes, then tried anime (it didnt work out), and now I only draw when im sitting through a boring lecture, and it's usually pictures of my car. Either stock, or fully done up... That and cartoony pictures of my pet cockatiels.

Posted by: zerocool_designs Aug 19 2006, 07:19 AM
I used to draw pretty often. I've fallen out of the habbit, and now do all my artwork through Photoshop, and my Olympus. Whenever I do draw, it's generally in class, and usually something pretty simple.

I was just looking through my DA account and saw a couple of my favorites that I even forgot about... grin2.gif

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/31326855/
My "Mustang"... tongue.gif I drew this before I even bought my Mustang (Eye drawing from an image in an issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords), but I recently added some things to make it look a little like my own, like the fogs, louvers, and sunroof...

A drawing of my friend Tisha in a slight anime style... grin2.gif

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/31327055/
Race Queen Shinobu; Representin' Ford Racing, w00t! laugh.gif My favorite drawing, after the 1911/Deagle drawing...Just a little Love Hina fanpic I created a while ago out of boredom...So maybe Ford isn't the first company a Japanese umbrella girl would sign up for; It's my damn fanpic... laugh.gif grin2.gif

Well, umbrella girl is er.. yeah, so it doesn't matter. tongue.gif

I generally specialize in anime-style, even going as far as gaining rights to teach the methods part-time at a technical school.

But since I'm still studying and the first semester is about to end, I haven't been able to make something new for the past month or so... my tablet is soo gathering dust. T.T

Posted by: Realmdrifter Sep 19 2006, 10:04 AM
I used to draw alot... but since I started studying art at school, - an external school to my high school, where I study communication design, I don't draw as often as I used. But I draw for my projects at times - I'll post those. And I'm starting to draw again biggrin.gif

I'll hopefully be studying graphic design next year, so alot of drawings will be coming biggrin.gif

Posted by: Syl3nt nyt3 Sep 28 2006, 06:33 AM
If you're going into graphic design you may be looking at Illustrator, Photoshop and a Wacom tablet a whole lot more than a pen and paper bro. Here's some concept generation for a current competition I'm doing:

That WRX looks good coloured, Amz. I need to learn how to use letraset markers at some stage: I think it would liven my art up a lot!

Yush, I draw too!

Here's a http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/28906688/ I'm working on - it's being drawn frame by frame over the top of a dance video (Alizee = yay!)

And http://binka4wing.deviantart.com/, have a browse grin2.gif

Your flash animation is made of awesomeness and win biggrin.gif

Oi. My letraset markers = for your use too. I think you gave up when the black ink screwed you over last time though...I'll have to harrass Kylie into letting us know the secret behind making them not spew black ink across the page whistling.gif

Posted by: PepsiAddict Oct 24 2006, 08:10 PM
Very true. They really didn't like my ink. Either that or I was using really crappy paper, probably the latter tho.

And you'll have to teach me the art of colouring with letrasets. Am thinking of getting a stack like yours - since I'll be able to afford it!! How much were they again?

no he didn't.
MidnightViper's anatomy is so very out of proportion, don't take this the wrong way. just keep practicing. I'd suggest a good printout of the human body both male and female and some tracing paper and start getting familiar with anatomy and proportions, from skeletal to muscular. That way you can establish a good fundamental figure before you put in detail like facial features and clothing and such.

Posted by: MidnightViper88 Jan 27 2007, 11:41 PM
How about this; Eye perception can be skewed when looking off a computer screen and then drawing on a clipboard in your lap...If you don't have each at level angle with your face, you'll draw lopsided...

I'm not a very imaginative person when it comes to poses...I have to use a reference picture, and I used one off my computer for that drawing...

So it's not really that I need practice...I think I can draw pretty damn good myself (And that's not my ego speaking rolleyes.gif ); Maybe next time I need a reference image, I'll print it out and set it on my desktop, so when I draw, both my reference and drawing will be at the same damn level...That way, the only problem I have to worry about is looking straight down at it, and if my drawing still comes up awkward, then I know my head's not at 90-degrees... tongue.gif

I've suffered no such problems with my "lead guitarist Oniko" piece from earlier in this thread...

Just another Love Hina fanart I've been working on, featuring Naru...

Goddamn, using a digital camera to take a picture of a drawing is a real pain, getting the lens just about perfectly parallel with the drawing so the drawing doesn't look out of proportion when uploaded...I could really use my scanner... dry.gif

Hmm...hmm...

Lately I've been doing some Love Hina/FFX for the hell of it...

I did this http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39503171/ piece for fun at first, then another DA user hoped for "MOAR"...So I did a http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41188358/ piece in responce...She said I should then finish the trio with a http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/58445356/ piece, which I finally got the motivation to do a couple hours ago...

So, yeah...That's it...

Tablets sure as hell are something else to work with...

It's a different transition going from traditional to digital, since there are a lot of things to get used to; Pressure and sensitivity, pointer relativity to the screen, and stuff like that...Over 8 months and about 7 digital pieces later, I'm still not completly used to things... tongue.gif

I may not be able to draw as well with a tablet, but it sure is fun to color stuff, since there's a lot of things you can do in the absence of traditional color media...

Take off the hood scoop, change the rims, make the front not slope in so much, change the front end, take off the side door scoop thing, and give it a roof. :/

Ian

Agree with BOZZ. Seriously bro, you could have submitted your design to some car manufacturer and let them produce this car as a concept, if not a production. grin2.gif grin2.gif

Posted by: White Sil80 Dec 4 2007, 05:36 PM
There is no "scoop" thing on the side doors. The rims are only temporary but some ppl like them. I'm ganna try to make another draft without the front end sticking out too much. By the way, I have already made a year 2020 or some year with it but I would like to keep it with a low profile but post up the old draft.

Future theme of the previous car I posted. Glass top, changed to a mid engine. The front headlights are changed to better looking ones but I'm not ganna show that yet. Really thin taillights. Tailpipes are actually the vents on top of the car on there rear.

Drawing the rear was hard to be accurate with because the picture was up on the computer. So I held the paper next to the monitor and drew it from there. Eventually, darkened the lines and added the shadowing. Too bad I couldn't put enough info on the lights.

If you have a large book stick it between the pages towards the middle of the book then stick something heavy on top of the book, and it will flatten after around 30mins. smile.gif

Ian

Posted by: White Sil80 Dec 30 2007, 09:07 PM
I'll reupload it with a drawing of my type of S15. It would be red, mostly oem, carbon fiber parts, big tailpipe. Fitting these standards that I posted on the "Show Off Your Car!!" Thread @ https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=30947

The Standards Are:

1.Destroys the Looks
2.It would probably not fit in with the car
3.Graphics/Kits looks really ugly
4.Useless
5.Efficiency (Credits/currency in the game, Materials when it comes to drawing)
6.What's it for?
7.Use of colors

I'll probably add more to the list.

hood is too short and way too rounded. And I'm pretty sure the front would look better if it didn't slope so much. Right now the front sort of looks like an Evo X. :/ Also where the spoiler attaches to the trunk looks kinda funky. The rear lights don't come to a point either. The shading on the side looks really good though! smile.gif

Ian

Posted by: White Sil80 Jan 1 2008, 05:21 PM
I know, but it's still a working progress and the lights needs to be more round. My second draft has black Nismo rims and has not spoiler. Do you know if Version 4 lets me put on parts like that? This is actually my plan for customization.

@ Red IDShit4 Silvia person. The wheelbase and centre section of the car is too short. Make it longer, so the roof doesn't go up, point, and go down, if that makes sense. In other words, your roof doesn't have nearly any horizontal parts to it.

Try and use that picture as a reference for the profile of the side of the car. It should look heaps better after you get the roof shape figured out.

The idea was taking from watching http://www.ccsvscc.com/eps/08f.html and just playing too much Pokemon ROTFLMOA!

Hello there, it's been a while... My next picture is actually going to be a S15 Autech Version. Basicly, my blueprint for Ver.4. Trying to keep it from body kits and such. It's going to have carbon fiber parts, aftermarket muffler and rims. When I actually get the car done for Ver. 4, I'll upload it into the "Show Off Your Car" thread.

Power levels will jsut kill the whole purpose of Dragonball Z even though I know nothing about it. In all animes, cartoons, etc, all heros or characters have weaknesses and of course they have powers but everyone has a limit to them.

Attatched is a sketch of a R34 for a group named J-Cubed Prod. They're a group who just make videos for the fun of it.

LOL, i know it looks like the Deku Tree, but it's not. I've been writing a fantasy/sci fi story in my spare time, and well, this fellow is one of the characters in it... He just happens to look alot like the Deku Tree tongue.gif His name is Hayashi (means "forest" in Japanese). I took alot of my idea for the face from my dear old Dad. I think it turned out well.

The main character seeks refuge in Hayashi's forest from the big bad badguy. There is a humorous scene where she and her friends mistake the wood carving of the old man for him, and things get out of hand...

Mate thats pretty good, you havnt been to poland by chance have you?

Maybe about 10 years ago, in Krakow, students used to do really similar paintings on the street and sell them, (for a lot, cos theyr simply awesome)

My cousin bought me one of these.

They use the lids of the cans to mask out the circles etc, is there a name for this type of art???

This is one of the best forms of art i have ever seen grin2.gif

ps, good work

Thanks- Nope never been to poland. Ive seen it done at fairs and on the street myself- exactly like you described. Thought it looked cool so i taught my self some basics on how, and do it pretty much as you described using lids cand tops whatever i find/like. Dont know if it has a particular name i just call it spray paint art. I watched a handfull of videos on youtube and mimiced what they did the best I could.

Could you post some links to the vids on how these paintings are done? if seen some really amazing ones. The one piece i have, it has a crazy waterfall, which I assume was made by smearing the paint.

Any techniques, please share
Is it photographic paper that they use?

as for the paper- Use the laminated side of a poster board. Wouldnt really know where to start with the techniques, you could write a lot about it- Give the videos a watch and just do what you see them doing. Youll quickly see its more about creativity then physical "skill" in doing what they do. Theres only a few basic "techniques" ued to acomplish basicly EVERYTHING you see them do.

The general idea is pretty much any gloss will suit ya- A lot of people just like to get the cheapest gloss they can. I prefer rustoleum myself, but im still n00b at this kind of thing and havent experiment much with other brands. I have done enough to find out most brands dont mix well with other brands for whatever reason however.

This is pretty much a first-draft at the moment, I will try again a week later.

It looks a lot cleaner and more detailed THIS small.

It's pretty much traced on an original image.

What do you think of this drawing of Grimmjow I made earlier?
I should mention of course that it wasn't free-hand, I had a couple pictures to get an idea of what to do...

EDIT:
I have another, but I don't think it's as good:

Kazumi Asakura fanart from Negima (DA link with bigger ressie)...Went with semi-realism on the face details instead of the Akamatsu "style" and gave her glasses (Since in the first chapter of the manga she's shown with glasses on the two-page class spread but never wears any throughout the manga...omgwtflolwut)

I should be beat to death for my failure to draw a simple f**king umbrella, though...

Most of the time, I don't draw anything outside the realm of the Sega/Sonic series, since you can call me a fanboy over it.

Here are a few notable drawings which I've done.
Some are table stretching links and thus aren't in image tags.

i think you guys will like my Orange CSC (Compact Sport Concept) Coupe.

Posted by: Sensation! May 18 2009, 08:17 PM
the lines on the car is good and demonstrate a bold/aggressive look.

however, i cant help but feel that it seems generic or uninspired, looks like many cues were taken from some of the european hatch concepts as well as the CRZ.

either way, its a good design, and the wheels are incredibly sexy. it looks like your art has improved as well.

my favourite from your gallery? that crimson van. perfect example of a retromodern attempt. its an absolute gorgeous concept.

if your considering attending pasadena, ill meet you there, unfortunately, i didn't prepare my portfolio...
and ive been in a quite an artists block

Posted by: White Sil80 May 18 2009, 08:26 PM
that CSC project was actually a pretty random set of design features. I was in one of my classes and was just going head on starting with the front lower bumper. everything else came to me after that. i have always made aggressive sport cars but this one really threw me off. i'm trying to make the rear to be just as aggressive looking but it seems to be difficult to match the front.
