It's a really nice movie. I can't wait to get the blu-ray & watch it with my girl ~ she's not into anime, but I have a feeling this film will make her cry~ <3

It's the prequel to OreImo. The male protagonist is totally a self-insert for the author of OreImo. But in all seriousness, despite being a fun series, I have to knock it for taking the cheater's way out. It tries to do the well-worn trope of 'big brother falls in love with imouto' but then it cops out with the '...but they're not blood-related!' nonsense. At least OreImo had the balls to have them actually be related, though that did mean that the author had to rein in how 'close' they actually got lest censors decide to end things prematurely. Still, I respect OreImo for daring to go where few series dare to tread. Eromanga-sensei though... well, hopefully it remains worth it for the comedy, because the relationship aspect is stale.

The incest plot is getting almost sick since Oreimo did it already. Its just that Eromanga sensei tried to "justify" incest by them being "not related". Even the other female characters are pulling the "I love you" card even though the protagonist is going with the "I actually love someone else" in which it ends up like Oreimo. Basically, the writing is compared to Oreimo that I wouldn't find the difference. .....at least the characters are cute and cringy at the same time.

OreImo was one of the very few series which dared to have them related, however, and for that I will always give it props. I can probably count on one hand the number of series I know that aired on TV which had an incest plot and had the protags be related by blood. Meanwhile I can rattle off plenty which have them be completely unrelated. It's just a pet peeve I guess. It's like, you want to ride on the 'taboo' of an incestuous relationship, but you don't have the balls to take it all the way. |

Ditto, I find it really disappointing that the only anime/manga that dare push the boundaries of incest & sexual taboo without crossing the line into pornjinshi are all shoujo series... Which I hate cause they're overly melodramatic and never end in a satisfying climax... much like a female orgasm! Hi-yoo! (not that xiao would know) For example BokuImo went there but... you had to cut through the wishy-washy girl shit to get to them making out and not being all angsty. In Maria Sama, Shiori and Sei's relationship (taboo school girl lesbian affair) the fling was a little bit more satisfying with them kissing in the Church stalls and smooching in the school garden where the nuns could see them. But it was very short-lived and then bam cop-out Shiori gives up on the relationship cause she's gotta go be a nun now... I liked OreImo's ending but fuck man... let 'em savour the consummation of their relationship longer. Cause it was a cute & funny moe series in the style I like, with none of that shoujo angst bullshiz. I would've given anything to have seen a spin-off love comedy Shana series where she finds out Shana has a big bro & BAM! they start incest right off the bat and sexy times hilarity ensues... without jumping the shark into straight up porn that is. ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ This post has been edited by xiao on May 25 2017, 11:55 AM

Koi Kaze was a TV series. Yosuga no Sora and OreImo were certainly not shoujo series, though I suppose you could argue Koi Kaze as one. The reason I make a distinction here is that if you include OVAs, suddenly you have to start including porn or trying to differentiate between porn or not. At least if it aired on TV you can consider it legit even if it later got released with pornographic content (looking at you, Yosuga no Sora). Pornographic series tend to care less about censorship and so are more 'daring' about pushing boundaries. TV series, on the other hand, generally have to bite their tongue. That's why it's impressive when you find a TV Anime that's got characters who are actually related to one another. |

I think that seiyuu will be called 'the chinchin girl' for a while. As for the incestuous relationship trope, I'm already desensitized to it since I've watched a countless number of incestuous 'anime' over the years. Don't think it's a big deal. It's just... anime. <:( Edit: Eromanga-sensei Ep 8 was surprising. <:[
