If you don't have any valuable data on your hard disk, format and install a clean copy. If you do have data you want to recover, hook the hard drive up on another rig and copy those data first before you format the thing. Best of luck! |

Thanks to a torrent and a cd-r, I was able to burn a bootable disc and do a repair install, keeping all my files intact! Special thanks to Don for some extra advice. Keep in mind that Perry is probably right in diagnosing your issue as registry corruption caused by malware. While the repair install did get you running again, it did NOT solve the root of your problem. I would run some scans with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and such just to be on the safe side. Else you'll be doing this charade again. | ||
