Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Initial D Music > $200 plan to revive Initial D Music section |
Posted by: Perry Oct 6 2008, 11:59 AM |
This idea is not new or innovative by any chance. I believe someone did mention it before in one of the threads here. Basically, a portion ($200) of our donation reserve funds will be designated to purchase authentic Super Eurobeat / Initial D albums. Albums will be shared within the community upon arrival. We will sell back the album to the community 7 to 14 days afterward. One lucky member will be able to purchase the album for half of the original price. A raffle ticket system will be installed for this to select the lucky member. The member must be on the forums for at least one (1) year and have more than 100 posts. (Exceptions accepted depending on the situation, i.e. you have contribute a lot but only one month shy of one year membership.) It is a win-win situation. Everyone gets to listen to the music and one member can obtain the album for half of the original price. This is to encourage those who complain about the pricey tag for SEB albums to actually start buying them. However, leeching will be inevitable. We plan to do the initial three albums a free for all kind of thing. (That means even guests can get them.) After that, we might start to increase the minimum requirement to 10 posts in order to obtain these songs. I've turned this proposal to the Moderating Team. If there is no major disagreement, then this is a go. Either way, we'll see how it works out. If it becomes a complete failure and everyone just leech, then we won't continue it. https://idforums.net/index.php?act=donate |

I agree with this. I'd probably buy a few mega-mix albums if they are half price. |
Posted by: Lebon14 Oct 6 2008, 01:38 PM |
I'll be getting the monthly album by myself but those album like Love Para2, The Best Of the year, Gazen Para Para related CDs, Super GT and all the albums that are released aside, I'm fully in. Because, I'll be able to get an album that I'm not fully interressed in for half price. ...Oh man... I have a feeling of guilt of accepting that promise. I'll be a full leecher like that... But, I'll do my part with donations. |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 6 2008, 01:43 PM |
By donating, you shouldn't feel like a leech. By donating, you're letting Perry use that money to buy new albums for everyone's benefit, including your own, so you could say that you're essentially buying the album. That should cast away any doubts about leeching since you're actually buying into the program. I've already donated a while ago for the forum, but I'm totally willing to do it again since IDW is pretty much my life online. |

i would love to help out with the $200.00 but im broke. |
Posted by: TypeR76 Oct 6 2008, 06:07 PM |
Good idea but I am still short of many things. |
Posted by: Lebon14 Oct 6 2008, 06:21 PM |
I just donate 10$US I hope many people will donate so we can have many Eurobeat albums. |
Posted by: Holland Close Oct 6 2008, 07:23 PM |
Very tantalizing idea indeed. I wonder if purchase of those rare Eurobeat albums(like Paradise! Eurobeat) are considered, thought I'm sure priority goes to SEB and other more major/recent releases. |
Posted by: InitialDRulz Oct 6 2008, 08:45 PM |
umm Alastair o_o read Perry's post again. he doesn't need $200, he's using $200 from the donations he received. |
Posted by: Takumi Trueno Oct 6 2008, 09:30 PM |
I bought albums before for the forum. I would like to help out again. |
Posted by: Alastair Oct 6 2008, 11:14 PM

This idea (or something similar) has been crossing my mind for the past couple of weeks, and it sounds like a good idea to me. I personally don`t want physical cds (I prefer digital downloads), but that`s a great idea for a raffle, for those who do.... but would it be the case that only people who have donated to this system will be able to get the tracks at a reasonably high quality ? Maybe that should be the case ? and a comparatively lower quality set of links for evaluation purposes available for those who do not donate, so they can still hear and review them rather than make do with the pitiful samples that are usually available. Then they can make up their own minds as to whether they want to donate and get the links OR order the cd if they want. Either way, this will help a lot of people who can`t afford every release, and the hassle of having to deal with overseas stores....and also for people like me who don`t actually want a physical disk delivered, yet can`t easily get hold of decent digital downloads at a reasonable quality and price. I`m up for it and will be watching this thread for rules and more info |
Posted by: abe81 Oct 7 2008, 12:51 AM |
No problem, win win situation is the best move. |
Posted by: awdrifter Oct 7 2008, 02:45 PM |
We're giving the chance to buy the album (after it has been uploaded) for half price right? Not just buying a raffle ticket for half price of the album. |
Posted by: Perry Oct 7 2008, 02:52 PM
That is correct. And raffle tickets are free of course. (You won't even need DPoints.) It's limited to one ticket per person and there will be minimum requirements for that similar to the Eurobeat / Initial D request album. |
Posted by: Faded Oct 7 2008, 06:07 PM |
Will uploads be at 320kbs??? |
Posted by: Fad Oct 8 2008, 01:46 AM |
So the free raffle tickets will be given to those who want them, for the chance to buy the actual physical disk for half price ? and how do we go about getting the digital version, do we have to make a donation at a specific time (so many days or weeks ahead) or will there be a system devised to keep track of what`s going on ? Presumably a list of rules will be posted when it`s all sorted out. ? I left my brain behind this morning |
Posted by: Lebon14 Oct 8 2008, 07:14 AM
Yes, it will be ripped like that.
1. Yes. If the person that is drawn, the person will have the chance to buy to buy the physical album for half price. 2. You can do a donation whenever you want and the CD will be ripped in 320kbps and then, shared to the public online. Then, a lucky member will be able to buy it half-price with the raffle ticket system 3. There will be rules if everything works well, indeed. (That's what Perry thought about for the least, correct me if I'm wrong) |
Posted by: Joruji Oct 11 2008, 06:06 PM |
Its a great idea , i agree =)! |
Posted by: Lebon14 Oct 11 2008, 07:01 PM |
Guys, you should look at the header of the music section (the place where the rules are). There is https://idforums.net/index.php?pg=rvvmusic where you can donate specifically to get Eurobeat albums! Guys, you should donate! Even 5$US is OK! |
Posted by: awdrifter Oct 12 2008, 02:45 AM |
Just donated $5. Sorry to donate so little, hopefully I can help out more later on. |
Posted by: Perry Oct 12 2008, 03:01 AM
Sorry, there was some error with Paypal, I had to deny the payment. Please try again now. Thanks !! |
Posted by: Fad Oct 12 2008, 03:09 AM |
Thanks, that looks simple enough... can someone just clarify the situation concerning anonymity & personal info passed on by PayPal....who will be able to access the information etc ? |
Posted by: Perry Oct 12 2008, 03:11 AM
Only I have access to all donations info including the main ones. It has been this way since I created the site. My Paypal account has been established since 2003 and it's mainly used for donation purpose. I am still in the process to automate the process of making donations info show up on the list. As of now, I still have to add each donor, donation date, and donation amount manually each time. |
Posted by: Fad Oct 12 2008, 03:13 AM |
Thanks for that info Perry, I`ll try it now. I`m sure that will alleviate anyone elses worries about that situation as well. also..I just got an email to verify that I`m a human, will I have to reply to that every time or is it an error ? I`ve never had one of those before. |
Posted by: awdrifter Oct 12 2008, 03:40 AM |
With PayPal he'll only know your name and PayPal account number I think. You credit (or debit) card numbers are not forwarded. Edit: I've received the rejection email from the first donation, so I just tried again. Hopefully it'll work this time. |
Posted by: Perry Oct 12 2008, 11:50 AM
That is correct. In fact, let me tell you exactly what I am given. In the transaction details page, I am given your name, Paypal Email address, donation amount, timestamp of transaction. I do not have access to any of the secured information such as your debit/credit card or bank account. I don't think Paypal is that careless. Thanks for everyone's donation so far. I will update the https://idforums.net/index.php?pg=rvvmusic in a second. EDIT:
I am not sure what that Email is for. I assume it's the Anti-Spam feature from Paypal because Email crawler bots can spam my Paypal Email address. I guess I can get rid of that later on. We'll see about that. |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 12 2008, 12:17 PM |
Just donated a healthy chunk to the project. Anything for IDW! |
Posted by: Perry Oct 12 2008, 01:48 PM |
HOLY !! Thanks for the generous donation, Tesso !! I've found an album that no one ever bought around here and thought everyone will be interested in what the bonus CD is about from that album. Just ordered and should be here by next week. Once again, thanks all for funding this ongoing project. Raffle ticket system is currently being tested. I will need a few volunteers to beta test it. Please PM or IM me if you are interested for beta testing. Rules for who can participate in the raffle ticket process is still being considered. I am leaning toward just using the existing rules for the Eurobeat/Initial D request thread. Post your thoughts on that if that indeed becomes the rule for raffle ticket. |
Posted by: Tessou Oct 12 2008, 02:48 PM |
I think that using the existing rules from the EB/ID music request thread is fine. However, I tend to notice some members that contribute quite a lot and still don't have 100 posts/6 months on their records, so I support making exceptions in these cases if at all possible. As an example, if we were setting this up 3-4 months ago, I would immediately nominate Reomaru as an exception since he has contributed greatly to the thread on almost a daily basis since he joined the forum. Right now he has well over 100 posts, but as I said earlier, I was using him as an example. |
Posted by: Yuki Aizawa Oct 21 2008, 08:40 AM |
I finally found a friend with credit card (Visa... Mastercard... don't really know). With him I'll make a donation A.S.A.P. This is a great idea and everyone can contribute to it =) |
Posted by: DXPetti Oct 23 2008, 02:08 AM |
Donation made, you'll know its me from the email addy |
Posted by: YumeChan Dec 11 2008, 01:57 PM |
I love that Idea, so I spontanously donated 10 Dollar, just to show that it's really nice here. |
Posted by: Perry Dec 12 2008, 05:14 AM
Thank you very much, YumeChan !! I've finally finished writing the automatic donation tracker. https://idforums.net/index.php?act=donate It now tracks and updates who donated immediately. It is quite nifty. |
Posted by: Perry Dec 15 2008, 08:41 PM |
Pardon me for the double post. But thank you for EuroFad for making another donation !! Your donation is highly appreciated and will fund the ongoing project. Thank you once again. Note: the autotracking script is working perfectly. |
Posted by: Fad Dec 16 2008, 12:00 AM |
That script did work flawlessly I noticed ! No problem about the donation, I would put in more but my bank account is in meltdown 99.9% of the time...real life, debts, bills...the usual boring stuff But I was thinking that even if just 10 people put in only $5 every now and again, that would surely cover each cd ? any extra would be a bonus obviously, and go towards anything else that might appear....I`m guessing that 192 was downloaded quite a few times ? maybe a higher profile donation drive is needed |
Posted by: Tessou Jul 7 2009, 09:54 AM |
Contributors to the revival project will now see a special tag under their posts. |
Posted by: Fad Jul 7 2009, 10:38 AM |
That`s clever...and will have the benefit of having the donate link more visible, more often |
Posted by: Godot Jul 8 2009, 12:47 PM |
just donated $5 =P cant donate much since i pretty much drained my bank acct from anime expo XD |
Posted by: Manix Jul 13 2009, 04:08 AM |
I'm gonna donate just for the tag. J/K. With my return to the site, it's the least I can do. Last year I would have donated more, but this is an alright start. Plus, I'll be sharing Tokyo Auto Salon #5 soon as it arrives for me. |
Posted by: Rudy Jul 13 2009, 08:03 AM |
Go for it, Perry. When I get paid, I'll pitch in. >< |
Posted by: Tessou Jul 13 2009, 09:11 AM |
Thanks to those who have donated to this project so far! I have to wonder what will happen with the funds over the long drought before SEB 200 releases. |
Posted by: Manix Jul 13 2009, 12:09 PM |
^Invest it in the producing companies' stock. |
Posted by: Lebon14 Jul 13 2009, 12:27 PM
I would donate a few bucks for its purchase... sounds logical. |
Posted by: Perry Jul 15 2009, 01:08 AM
https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38559 ! Everyone post about what you want to see next. We are going through a 4 ~ 5 months of SEB drought. And we have quite a bit of money to spend. So post your requests. I am extending that thread's deadline until next week. |
Posted by: oneofakind2k6 Jul 15 2009, 04:32 AM |

Posted by: Sanae Nov 8 2009, 02:36 AM |
You're more than welcome Perry-kun. I don't really download music from this section but I think what you're doing here is a brilliant idea so I thought I'd do my bit. As they say, every little helps. |
