As you probably notice, the forums had been down numerous time recently, downtime durations are from 5 minutes to over an hour. I apologize for such event taking place. I've reported that to the host. Here is the their response.

Dear Surpasshosting,

My domain (idforums.net) hosted on Mango server had been down numerous time lately. Here is a status report from siteuptime.com for my site idforums.net;

-----------------------
From: support@siteuptime.com
Subject: SiteUptime Monthly Report for January 2004
To: jinliu@ucdavis.edu
Date: 1 Feb 2004 09:04:09 -0000

Dear Perry,

Below is your monthly uptime report January 2004

www.idforums.net
Service: idforums.net
Outages: 20
Downtime: 25 hrs, 0 mins
Uptime: 96.75%
-----------------------

The site had been down for 20 times in January. I did not expect that to be honest with you. I just would like to have a better uptime for my site, because my site is a public forums as you can tell by the name (idforums.net). Any response to this is appreciated. Thank you !

Hi Perry,

I am sorry for the late reply here. You are correct, Mango has been having problems. Last month it was related to users running buggy scripts mostly or DoS attacks, and this month is not much different. We are weeding them out as fast as we can and hope to have Mango completely fixed before long. The outages over the past several days are related to network upgrades we have been performing to increase the overall performance. It was expected to be down no longer than 15 minutes, but unfortunately that was not the case. Rest assurred, we are here and working on Mango to get it completely fixed up and as quiet as the other servers we have. That's the one bad thing about shared hosting. Other people can cause problems with your site inadvertently and it seems Mango has had the worse luck of all.

Thanks

I hope such events won't take place again, or at least not as often. I'll keep you all posted on this. Thanks for supporting the forums.

Now THAT was unexpected. I mean this could have been posted in january, which was why i was confused. i was thinking that this was a typo and that perry meant February as it IS February, NOT january. God.

The keyword is monthly.

How would I get a monthly uptime report for February when it's only the beginning of February ?

Anyways, it seems the host still goes down from time to time, but not as often, which is a good thing. Hope they can fix the whole DoS attack problem soon.
