Ok so according to Nismo it's my lifter(s). How can I get rid of this annoying noise? It's so loud and since my exhaust tone is quiet, you can hear it a block down... dry.gif ok maybe not that much.

Help? He says changing the oil might help...

yep get an oil change with high quality oil, and you should see a change with the sound.

If not then its a new set of lifters cos they might be too clogged up with dirty oil

What kind of car? What kind of motor? What weight oil are you currently running? With the old Miata, they used hydraulic lifters that were sensitive to oil weight and would tick like crazy. Changing from a 10W30 to a 5W30 usually made things less noisy.

Cannot say anything that has not been said already. Try changing the oil first. wink2.gif

try running half a quart of atf with your next oil change also try running some 15-40 oil. thats what my friend ran in his 6g72 and that seemed to quiet up the lifters.

also, if you do end up taking out the lifters for a clean, diesel is good for cleaning the dirty oil out.

Or you can try getting the lifters adjusted. Just a thought.

Well tomorrow I will change the oil... it's recommended to use 10-30 but if that doesn't quiet em down then I'll move up to 10-40...

If the oil does nothing, and I decide to clean, is it a job I can do myself or should I take it to like... some place to do it?

50/50 thick, good quality oil, and Dexron-III ATF, run for 2 weeks, then change oil again, using a reasonably thick grade. 5-30 for turbos, 10-40 for NAs (thicker is also better)

Whoa... 5-30 for turbos?

Well I changed the oil and my lifters shut up... though I am concerned about it happening again. any suggestions for the next time?

5-30? 10-50? Lucas? lol... I'd like to at least keep it to a minimum..
