There's something awkward about the way you have it right now. Almost like the lines are too hard around them. Taking off the border was definitely a step in the right direction. |

That's because of the gradient map. It makes the lines darker, but without the gradient map you can't see the details of the flower. :/ Here's some more that I took today. Version 1: Version 2: Do you guys like them? If you do, would you say which ones and why? Ian

Those last two remind me of the Nissan G-series commercials. Very nice. Rayn, how do you get your colors the way you do in the Levin shot? I've seen it in your photos before and I love it! Is it a filter on the camera itself, or is it something in Photoshop? If, it's in Photoshop what do you do? Also do you have any more pictures of the Levin? I love that car! Bucket Hunter Group: Advanced Members Posts: 1,115 Member No.: 1,064 Joined: Nov 28th 2003 Location: Chicago, Illinois | color is done thru gradient adjustment layers and playing around with the blending modes and masking out the colors i dont like. on my more recent shots in the woods thread a lot of the desaturation is actually how i had my camera setup so its in camera and not photoshop there. also had a polarizer on for most of these shots cept night shots. dont wanna clog up the thread so im just using links for the other old versions of the levin shots. http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/6338/henry1aq2.jpg http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/6873/henry3ri7.jpg http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/3246/henry4nu2.jpg |

ペンタックス Group: Advanced Members Posts: 3,454 Member No.: 15,047 Joined: Dec 24th 2005 Location: San Jose, California | Here's some pictures from my first photo shoot. This time instead of just taking pictures from around my house, I actually drove (I recently got my permit ) up into Saratoga where we took our family portrait. It was really nice because it was probably around a 5-10 minute drive. There was an old shack that was falling apart and I saw this wall and I absolutely loved it. This was a Horse Chestnut tree that was near the old shack. I think this one is my favorite. I took two versions and I don't know which one I like better. Can you guys tell me which one you like better? Version 1 or 2?: Version 1: This was the house that is used at the end of the property. Version 2: Same house but messed with the colors. So what do you guys think of my pictures? How am I doing for not using a SLR/DSLR? Comments and criticism are welcomed and encouraged. Ian |

Anyway, good job for doing this. |

It's possible you may want to go with a theme for the pieces you're submitting. Possibly use the season, autumn, as your theme? If you were to choose this, Ver2 would be good because of the colors. However, the horse chestnut tree picture you have is great and really shows how cold the season is, in which case Ver1 may be better. Autumn is a cold season with warm colors.

It's been our current project in photography class for the past month or so. If you don't know what a pinhole camera is, here's a Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinhole_camera. These are just my two favorites out of like 8 we had to do. The bottom row are negatives and the top row are positives made through contact printing. The one on the right had some unusual light leak on the bottom (technically top of my camera) corners. It's the only pictures with those streaks. |

No theme what so ever. But I submitted the colored version (Version 2) into the art show, and I have to wait to see if she puts them into the art show or not... Ian |
