the shift points of the car actually change as you progress through the game and purchase performance parts.. hmm..

the best way to actually find out is to literally over-rev the engine.. till the pin on the tach actually get's stuck (i.e. bounces back and forth) and you notice that your speed ain't goin' up.. what i do is i shift up 1kph less than the shift point.. that way.. the car would accel smoothly.. happy.gif

oh yeah.. as for the launch.. hot-starts don't work well for me.. pinch2.gif

6 gear cars can hot-start and hit 2nd gear right away....
5 gears cant hot start, best to know when your horepower kicks in...
E.g.

FD > Rev over 6.5k and power comes in..
So..
I usually rev in between 6.5k to 8k

so is doing a hot start in my fd impairing its start up?

agree with This.. know ur cars power range.. NA and Turbo are Top End powers.. unlike Superchargers they all round power..

Huh? 6 gear can hotstart and hit 2nd gear right away? Gotta test it w/ my Altezza tomorrow.

@207: Hot Start a 5 gear car is not idealistic=.= Kinda suicides ur start up.... Unless u decide to ram the opponent's car.... But that would be kinda cheating

@xyeohts: superchargers? sadly, oni the AE86 T and L have=.= The rest have the options of large diameter turbines or balancing engine. Only T have the racing engine and some have bolt-on-turbo kits. I dunnoe whether the kits make an difference=x

@pen^2: i see people in my arcade doin this.... Evo9 and the s2k are gd examples and i can try to take a very short video about it.... If i can find pple doing this in the first place... when i thought i got the 'perfect counter' for 6 gears, they come up with this hot start tactic=.= btw, my conuter is juz squeezing the opponent that they forget to shift up cuz they are busy counter-steering=)

Btw, i spelled horsepower wrongly=.=
Horepower=.=

ty, ill stop with the hot starts. where is the best place to keep the revs up ie a few km/hr below redline without speend loss, should i gear down so that i get better accel?

Hmm....
Hw should i answer this..
Ok... Lets say that i playing myogi Downhill Dry
On My FD, Stock

During the start up, i dun hot start but rev into it's power range. For FD, 6.5k to 8k....
I get the meter there... Once i reach abt 19km/h in 1st gear, i will shift up no matter what range is the meter at. Then shifting into the 3rd gear for me would be b4 the redline.... JUZ b4 the redline.... Then my 3rd gear max for my FD in myogi would be 147, if i have speeds of less then 147, i would dwonshift to 3rd gear..
E.g.
I enter in 4th gear at 160+
I crashed into the corner
My speed becomes 144
So i better shift down to let the power kick in for smoother acceleration

And for judging ur power range...
5th gear or 6th gear=)
For ALL cars, FT or Stock, when you hit 4th to 5th ( for 5 gear cars ) or 5th to 6th ( for 6 gear cars ), ur accel would lag awhile, then suddenly accels. That would be the power range...
E.g.
On a long stretch of road, i hit 5th gear on my FD. It lags awhile as it it not in the 6'5k to 8k range, but once inside, it starts accel real gd.
Also, know the max speed for each gear is a wise idea=)

There, my point my view=x

tried it, keep missing 19km/hr sad.gif but i do rev it up so it has good power. problem starts at 2nd gear it drops down to 2k rpm then all the other gears are fine.

MR2 likes to be held at 4k at start, and floored at 0.5ish from "1" doing this gives a real boost on iro, dropping back revs to 3.5 when going to 2nd!

I find that a hot star for me IX isn't as good as startgin off in the 5k range then flooring at a split second before go cuz if you hot start it when you shift in to 2nd it drops to 3k whil the 5k approach kickit to only 6k major difference

The Evo9 is one of the fastest reving car in the game=.=
A hot start for it when u reach FT is the best way=.=
