as you can tell from my sig, i drive a trueno, and it's not exactly the best battle car there is, even though i battle with it alot, i'm only able to win on akina most of the time, i don't wanna have to fish anyone to win...the 86 can be a pretty versatile car, in the hands of a very skilled driver, but i have not reached that level yet, so i need another, better battle car. I have decided on the GDB and i have a few questions any help is appreciated. I would also like any advice from HIRA seeing as he is a very good battler.

1. what courses/conditions should i avoid?
2. best course?
3. shift points that our experienced players have found
4. any particularly good parts/tunes? or a parts list
5. what driving traits does this car possess? (i.e. constant undertseer, wheel lock, oversteer)?
6. Good for blocking?
7. and how much of Bunta Challenge can this car complete?

thank you,
sorry if any of these are n00b questions or have been asked before, i tried a search but GDB is too short to do a search with

best course? Usui Counter Clock Wise

Good for blocking? six gear car + big ass = good blocks

wouldn't it's great start-up make it a good shomaru car?
and does it completely overpower bunta on usui? cuz if it does, that'll be a really fast way to reach FT

all that i said about the courses its bad on is based on TA....
if ur battling then yes u should go on any course and block to win

any car should be able to defeat 15 star bunta...because he is the weakest bunta next to Happogahara

1. what courses/conditions should i avoid?
2. best course?
3. shift points that our experienced players have found
4. any particularly good parts/tunes? or a parts list
5. what driving traits does this car possess? (i.e. constant undertseer, wheel lock, oversteer)?
6. Good for blocking?
7. and how much of Bunta Challenge can this car complete?

1. I'd say Irohazaka since you'd be shifting around a shitload, but theres always a way around a problem anyways.

2. It's 2nd best on Akina snow? o_O I think it does decent on most courses when used correctly, (shifting down from 6 to 4 back to 5 quickly on certain turns etc ie. Akagi DH's First turn) Take a look at that overall ranking for cars on courses for more insight on that I suppose. But you can pretty much take it anywhere I think as long as you know the courses a bit, you can block like hell if you happen to fudge a corner though grin2.gif

3. Cold Starting from the Shift points posted somewhere around these forums seem to work well for my friend that has a GDB, as long as you don't screw them up, I just do a normal hot-start since I havent really sat down and played the thing for a period of time.

4. no clue pinch2.gif

5. It feels like the GC8v but you exprience some understeer, since well, its a 6 gear, from what I've exprienced

6. "very hell yes omgwtf" and the comment about being good on shomaru, you will block the hell out of the guy behind you (since well, most likely you will blast out of the line) but make sure you get familar with the course though with the GDB, its a big ass car, well ass anyways and you will start like hitting walls with your ass(blocker) without even knowing it o_O (from what i saw anyways! wrx's in general)

7. not sure

NOTE: these are just from what I've seen, I'm not GDB expert or anything, but yea, that monster start-up and blocking ability makes it one of the best if not the best for battling.

I played my GDB a lot on ver2 but I haven't touched it much since ver3 since all I've been playing is well, my 85, one of the main reasons why I got it though was for battling and because it's my first 6 gear car.

thanx...hopefully i'll be trying out the GDB tomorrow...i'll be racing with it right away =)
but boost on....i don't care who gets pissed off, i'm leaving boost on cuz boost off wouldn't be fair wink2.gif

EDIT:what is bunta's 15 star usui time? and how do i take the turns on usui? i know it's really n00bish, but i suck ass on usui b/c i almost NEVER play there...and i when i do i play with very drifty cars....so i dunno how to take the turns...

it is pretty good on happo. it is bad on time trials but i find TA's irrelevent to this car seeing as how i run better times on my battles.

Well i guess i'd better answer then... wink2.gif

1. Try to avoid wet tracks if you are playing against other 4WD's, since the GDB is one of the slidier 4WD's on wet..other than that, on dry you are fine everywhere in battles. For TA, it's only average on shomaru and myogi, but the rest it is above average to good.

2. I would say Akina Snow, since all 4WD's are course cars there.

3. 6k > 6k > 6.5k > 7k > 7.5k is what i use. Some say that 5.8k > 6.2k > 6.5k > 7k > 7.5k is better.

4. Get the Tune A muffler and Tune A spoiler (both STi parts) because they will give you a better start-up, which is important if your place has a lot of other GDB's. For the wheels, i don't really bother. LOL

5. Slight understeer, it's back end will slide out on wet like an FR, but not as bad. It's back end has a tendency to slide out on dry too.

6. Yes good for blocking with it's tall butt. But it has a tendency to wobble a little on tracks like tsuchisaka, making it slightly tougher to block than you might expect. And skill is always the most important factor in blocking. How big the car's ass is, is only a small factor.

7. Depends on driver. But will complete all the stars on only few of the tracks since it does have any real home course. But should be able to get 10 stars for all the tracks at least.

uhh.. just start driving the GDB, and you'll get use to it. Its an awesome car. I play Iro and Akagi mostly. its ok in Happo, either that or i just suck. but yea. if u shift at the right spots, you'll beat most people in startup. and just use the big ass to block from then on.

<3 Usui CCW. Just run normally. Try taking the 2 hairpins at 155 and work your way up until you feel comfortable. On C121, dont worry about understeer, just take the outside, and steer 75%, or just enough to hug the wall, and as soon as you feel the exit coming up, jerk the wheel all the way. With any luck you should exit wide and fast without hitting the wall. But be careful of the sharp right up ahead, it can get many a newcomer.

do you have to downshift like that (6 to 4 back to 5) for all 6 gear cars? if so, what other turns would you have to do that in?

you just do that on turns where you think your car will understeer or wheel lock
and it's called Machine Gun Shifting or MGS...you can do it with pretty much any car....
and can anyone answer my shift points question? start is the biggest advantage i have with the GDB and i wanna make the most of it

for cold start I use 4000, 6000, 6500, 7000, and 7000-7250 or determine a certain speed for a course before going into 6th
