Auto: Quickest Start off no matter how fastest a manuel is. but then again it can't down shift the way a manuel can so you ten to under ALOT unless you know how to control the car well...best for noobs or players who are to lazy to move their left hand... (just cuz someone uses a auto for their car DOES not mean they are noobies) Manuel:ablitily to downshift quickest and able to make the car oversteer easier. can get off the line almost as quick but not as fast as the auto...best for exp players and for ppl who play games with the manuel setting.

Actually, it does matter if the other car or driver is faster or experienced. I've outshifted lots of full tune automatic cars. It all depends on wether the other driver has his shifting down or not. So, I would call that a semi-advantage. Because you can't always rely on your car to pull ahead of someone else, auto or manual.

The only car that has been able to beat me off the start is the evo (manual) This post has been edited by KrazFD on Feb 25 2004, 03:15 PM |

Anyways, yes Auto gives you a great start, but downshift is handicapped compared to manual, and you can drift more easily and use more drift techniques with a manual transmission. |

Even though the Auto starts up faster, it usually screws up the 5th gear shifting time, especially after a turn. Especially with a Cappo or a Trueno with the new engine. I know because I've driven them both on Auto and Manual. Manual blows for those two cars. |

You Sir.... ARE INSANE! I do not know abou the Capp, but for the Tureno/AE86.... The Auto is the worst thing EVER! YES EVER! The 86 is the only car I belive you HAVE to run as a manual to even be partially fast. I have watched quite a few auto 86's run they are all horrible slow, a manual will always win with that car. I have driven manual since day one, and always will. I do not even think there should be a option for someone to run auto on a game such as this.

Like everyone said you have control with a manual. Now on console games like GT3 PGR2 etc..... i use auto. Why? cause their is no difference, with an auto you can concentrate just on driving |

For console games, i prefer the auto, unless i have my set of wheels and shift, or else trying to shift with the controller is hell for mi!! |
