hahaha~ god, I'm an idiot. I'm gonna edit the IDW skin code to something that looks like a Gumby/Play-doh interface with big squishy multi-coloured buttons, so I can learn how to use proper posting etiquette. laugh.gif

Merchandise sales have spiked after reviews of the movie came out yesterday. It is becoming increasingly hard to find certain action figures and Funko vinyls post-premiere.

Somebody got one of the Smuggler's Bounty subscription boxes and sold the Funko vinyls to my local comic store. I managed to get the exclusive chrome Captain Phasma for a decent price as a result. Ebay sales are not as kind, but I'm not in it for resale value. I just like collecting shit.

Saw it in 3D. Don't watch it in 3D. The blur effect necessary for the glasses to work properly adds a slew of screen tearing and depth of field issues to the movie that end up distracting more than entertaining. The Star Wars branded glasses are $5 on top of the free RealD set you get with a ticket and look pretty goofy. Ceci wore Kylo Ren. I wore Captain Phasma. We both looked like dorks.

I won't discuss anything plot related from the movie until many weeks from now when everybody has had the chance to sit down and watch it.

For now, I will say that I love Kylo Ren. Great character. Flawed but powerful. Destined to become far stronger and darker in the next one. Kick ass lightsaber.

Really? IMAX Laser 3D looked pretty awesome, didn't notice any issues with it at all.

And yeah, totally in agreement about Kylo. Looking forward to seeing how they handle him, reminds me a lot of Mannequin Skywalker except actually done well. laugh.gif

IMAX Laser 3D is a completely different (better) tech than the standard RealD bullshit I sat through.

i'll likely see this movie soon but i'll be seeing it it good old 2D version with no frills. 3D movies strain my eyes with or without the 3d glasses.

You can't watch this movie in 3D without the glasses. The technology requires a blur effect to make the glasses work on any scene that utilizes 3D, so it'll be very hard on the eyes without glasses. There was only one scene in TFA that looked really good in 3D, and that was a Star Destroyer looking like it was popping out of the screen. All of the other 3D shit was just depth of field trickery.

I'm watching again in 2D on Monday.

i agree on that point. the glasses strain my vision when i have them on so i do once in a while remove them. both on and off 3d movie with glasses strain my eyes. i can tolerate the low speed scenes but when you have too many objects moving rather fast i need to put the glasses on.

TBH i find the 3D movies to be a fad, so are the motion sensor seats with built in speakers.

if i do go to a 3d movie i hope i remember to use my 2D glasses for the 3d movie. i got 2 sets of 3d glasses. i took out 1 right and 1 left lens and swapped them to make 2 sets of 2d glasses with the lens LL and RR. this is my back up plan and hopefully the main plan when i have no choice for 2d as theres only 3d movies of that film.

i think i know where i left my RR 2D set glasses.

I stayed away from this thread before I watched it (watched it last Thursday), I really really liked TFA... Definitely far better than the prequels...
