it is just personal preference. that is all.

3rd person view is no slower than 1st person view.
same as why people prefer 3rd person view in Daytona... and such. just preference.

there is a 3rd person view driver at the arcade near my place... and he isn't slow...
for non-course cars... he plays mainly Akina Lake, Myogi, Akagi, Tsukuba so far... and is within 1-2s of the course record for the cars he drive...
he may not exactly be the super-fast type that people go ga-ga over... but he is still pretty darn fast and not to underestimate~~~ ermm2.gif

as with anything... it just takes effort to reach there.
if you like the feel.. you like the feel. that is about it.

so you can just take anyone who tries to tell you that 3rd person view sucks and slow... and just pour all the salt that you have over him. wink2.gif

It's not that it's slow, it's hard to use. 3rd person in Initial D is hard to time your turn because of the camera angles and stuff.

It's actually the same once you get used to third person view, the only difference I've noticed is that you only have to turn earlier when compared to 1st person view, but the amount of how you turn the wheel is the same as in 1st person view.

The advantage of 1st person view is that you can already see the exit of the corner which gives you time to react early if there is another corner, like in happo there are consecutive corners. While the advantage of 3rd person view is that you can see the rear end of the car and you can see if the rear is about to hit the guardrail.

But these advantages becomes very minimal once you've mastered the course.

oh and yeah in 1st person view you can't see the road if you're bumper to bumper with the car in front of you.

3rd person view in id is hard because the car doesnt follow the camera angle like what you see in wmmt games. in wmmt, the third person view is easier because the car is "locked" with the screen, so when you do sideways in it, you don't see the side panel of the car, like in id.

Although i use head view, but car view is easy to adjust in id5.
i have tried car view quite alot of times, just need to shift your focus point at the front tires of your car.

I would always use car view for giggles when a battle is boring or when I've already won by 50+ meters... No other reason.

I find 1st person to simply be more speed-oriented. If I want to see my car, ill watch the replay which is far more enjoyable imo ~.~

I am a third person player. Can't seem to get used to 1st person for some reason. Been like that since v1.

I do think 1st person view players may have a little advantage but for me I just play with what I like.

Unless you are the rare 1% of decent players who are good from the 3rd person view, most players do much better from the 1st person view.

Just saw some Wagan players trying to play ID5 using the 3rd person view at West Mall and they died horibbly.

There is no point to vote as there is nothing meaningful to derive from this poll.

i think car view is better and more excited when battling because you can see 2 cars bumping to each other and how one passes the other car but its not easy being able to play car view never the less both views, hmm, wonder if there anybody out there than can play both views, that would be interesting

Personally, I use the 3rd person view in every racing game EXCEPT for IDAS.

With IDAS (at least versions 1-3) I preferred 1st person view for precision and better view of a turn's exit. Since the roads are narrow in the game and every km/h counts, this was important to me.

In every other racing game I've played (WMMT, NFS, MK, XG, GT) I'd prefer 3rd person because exact speed and precision took a backseat to blocking and overall view.

personally i prefer head because i think the driving line is easier to see and estimate.. unlike car, you have to look on all sides and the road ahead is quite a small view due to the car. but i respect car view drivers, they have better judgement than me.. pinch2.gif

Yesterday when I played IDAS4, I've switched my view to 1st person since I've noticed that the 3rd person is quite hard. And because of it, I was able to beat my personal best times.

So I'd say the 1st Person view is better when playing IDAS. smile.gif

I can judge better with the 1st person view too. And anyway, you just revived a few months old thread.
