I have been playing it for the past couple of days, and can I say I am rather impressed with the gameplay and different scenarios.I have already had a few crashes, which tessou forewarned beforehand, but other than that I can say I am really enjoying the game. I also enjoy that the game is far more difficult than Fallout 3, it is good that I should well prepare my character before going on certain quests, so if you which to talk about the game do it in here ladies and gents . wink2.gif

I play on PC, so nothing's difficult. Console FTW!

But really, I haven't had much issue. The hardest part for me is trying to figure out how quests tie together to make the most out of experience gained.

But really, I haven't had much issue. The hardest part for me is trying to figure out how quests tie together to make the most out of experience gained.

Example:
SPOILER

Some of the bugs have been taken care of, but there are a few others that can be annoying. The "You'll know it when you see it" quest has a bug where your dog (or the dog you hire) can't sniff out an important item sitting in a crowd member's inventory that leads to mission failure if you don't know what you're doing.

Also, for some reason the transfer of a character's hat in the "Debt Collection" quest leads to the doors to the strip being locked with a "use key" option. This key does not exist in the game's code. The only solution is to find one of three or four identical hats in the game and wear it while touching the doors to gain access.

I have found that it is pretty much impossible to kill Caesar unless you utilize a one-time quest option. The only other time it's "possible" is via letting a prisoner escape unseen in Caesar's tent, which just sets everybody inside to hostile mode and you only have a single weapon and no stimpacks (you're almost guaranteed to die).

The quest at McCarran air base where you sniff out the Legion spy is also hideously bugged to the point where the spy doesn't appear at all when he should be. I hid in some crates for five in-game hours waiting for him to show up (he's supposed to appear at 1AM game time) and he never did. Dropping the quest and doing other quests before returning didn't help at all. The sad part is that I already knew who it was but couldn't do anything to prove it unless he actually got his ass out to the radio tower, which he didn't.

If you want to enlist the Brotherhood of Steel for aid later on (if you're working with the NCR), do not do the sub-quest to replace the Elder with the Head Paladin Hardin. Hardin does not have the dialog option to work with the NCR even though he speaks about lifting the lockdown which prevented them from aiding anybody. Said dialog is not even a part of his gruff personality - it just isn't in the game's code. It is genuinely an oversight by the developers.

Force fast travel via console FTW, then? Seriously, that thing comes more in handy for fixing bugs than it does for cheating.

Console doesn't exist in the 360 and PS3 versions of the game. The best you can do is fast travel to the north gate and rage at the locked door, unless you just go get a copy of the problematic hat and wear it while clicking on the door (which magically unlocks it so long as you are wearing the hat).

I helped the NCR on my first playthrough and it was fairly humdrum. Nothing amazing happens. Next time I'll be playing an evil character, and I'll be an independent (commanding Yes Man).

If you ever venture into Vault 22 and decide to do the optional quest of eradicating the spores, you might run into a roadblock when you're required to ignite the gas in the vents without dying in the resulting fire. The trick is to go to the little lab room where you uploaded the vault's research data, throw a grenade towards the vent, and quickly shut the door. The fire will rage outside and then subside, and you will be safe. This is the only way I've seen to do this quest without getting killed.

New Vegas is awesome. Obviously it doesn't quite have the same epic feel as Fallout 3 (which can't really be avoided) but regardless it's still a great game. Hopefully they will expand it more with DLC as was done with Fallout 3.

I love the weapon mods. It's also nice to see the speech checks actually being a challenge, since now you cannot just keep reloading until you get it. I have it for the 360 and it does not seem any more glitchy than Fallout 3 in my 25 hours of playing thus far. Then again I have put almost 200 into Fallout 3 without any significant problems other than the occasional freeze.

Oh, and on a quick note - go to google image search and enter "happy face" and you will get the exact face used for a certain character. laugh.gif

So far I'm neutral in the game..

I HATE how I'm somehow affiliated with the NCR now lol..

Tesso.. are you saying it's IMPOSSIBLE to become a part of the BoS? Cuz that would suck major... that's what I'm aiming at...

I'm going to destroy the Legion! hahaha laugh.gif or try to..

I hit a bug where im beating up a certain character.. n now i cant leave the room because it's "requiring a key" which just means the lady outside isn't moving... WTF!?

Overall nice game.. but the bugs man.. I see floating wildlife and Scorpions that are inside rocks..

Also.. one little hint...

SAVE A LOT!...

You never know when you have to backtrack 10 minutes because you blew up all of the NCR lol happy.gif happy.gif happy.gif

I've been playing this game here and there. It freezes on rare occassions. I've run into floating people once in awhile, or people warping to other locations of a room when you talk to them. Bug wise, compared to Fallout 3, it's just a hair worse. They just released some small patch recently, but I don't see what it fixed.

Overall, I feel like I'm just playing a Fallout 3 expansion, but that isn't so bad. The changes they made to food are interesting, as well as magazines and weapon modding. I still need to play a lot more, but I'm having fun with the game so far.

the Xbox 360 got a pretty big update today. Maybe the patch was fixed along with it?

I loaded another save and the bug wasn't there anymore... weird? Yes!

I sort of want to get this, after spending a decent amount of time on Fall Out 3. :/

The game sounds good, even if as glitchy as the previous version was on PC.

Is it me, or does the world map in Fallout Vegas seem a bit smaller than the one in Fallout 3? I was trecking around last night and I noticed it didn't take very long to get anywhere by foot. If I was to estimate distances between Fallout 3 and Fallout Vega's world maps, I'd want to say the Nevada Wasteland is 66-75% the size of Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland.

I own the PS3 version and I've noticed since this last patch that the game momentarily locks up ever minute or so. It's kind of annoying cause it happens for a few seconds. It's still a good game, but has a few wrinkles to iron out.

Well Snake..

I think something that makes a difference is that if ur wearing light armor.. u travel faster.

Fallout 3 was always the same speed...

Whereas New Vegas is able to slow down or speed up.

Just my opinion....

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the map is a bit smaller than the Capital Wasteland from 3. No big deal in my opinion, it's still an awesome map and I haven't even seen that much of it yet in my 25 hours. I'm just glad that I don't need to use metro tunnels to get anywhere like I had to in DC.

There are some crazy ass guns that I still need to try out in this game. On another note, anyone get banned from gambling in any of the casinos yet?

You still slowed down based on armor, weapons and Agility in Fallout 3. But the Capital Wasteland map is bigger than the Mojave Wasteland map. So far, though, the Mojave Wasteland map does look pretty cool. But then again, if they actually scaled the Mojave Wasteland correctly, it would be way too big.

I mean legitimately. I tried rockets, grenades, nuka mines, everything else under the sun that's considered powerful... and they all failed and ended with me getting slaughtered. The only way I've found that's effective at dispatching the 10+ deathclaws in that area is the .50 "Motherf**kin'" Antimateriel Rifle. Savor those shells. For the love of god, make sure each one counts, because .50 ammo is super duper rare.

If there's anything in the game that can stand up to a critical .50 shot, I haven't seen it.

Are you trying to cripple the legs first to slow them down? It's very hard to kill a deathclaw unless you do that first.

Deathclaws were MASSIVELY beefed up for New Vegas.

Nah, I just use a stealth boy and do critical headshots with the .50. I'm fairly sure it's the only weapon that can kill them in one hit.

I use my plasma weapons n it works fine.. although not in one shot.. but it gets the job done..

I accidentally wandered into all of them one day.. looking for a certain spot.. and shit was not fun.. I was slaughtered..

There are two spots in the game full of deathclaws. The mining area, and a little base with some ghouls off in the southeast. They really did ramp them up for New Vegas, in that they can kill you very easily even if you're level 30 with heavy armor.

I did the quarry a little after I posted my earlier suggestion.

I just picked them off from a distance with a sniper rifle. Or, at very least, crippled their legs by the time they got to me. I stood on top of some big conveyor belt thing in the quarry and used the sniper rifle to take out the mother and alfamale from there.

Edit: Just finished my first playthrough. Got to level 23 the instant before the game ended. For this time I sided with Mr. House.
