Double clutching is a technique that truck drivers came up with. Basicaly you; 1. Engage the clutch, foot of gas, move the shifter to neutral. 2. Disengage the clutch. 3. Engage the clutch, shift into gear, and continue as normal. It's mainly used for cars with no syncro's or very bad syncros |

heal toe is where you take your toe and push the brakes and your heel to touch the gas... I don't touch the brakes anywhere in there.

To downshift... What you explained is double clutching too. What you explained is double clutching for upshifting. If you use your technique on downshifting you're gonna be putting hellified wear and tear on your clutch by letting it out like that. Rev matching makes it where downshifting is as fluid or more fluid than upshifting.

actualy, you let half your foot on the brake, and kinda roll your foot, or "blip" the gas. Heel toe is really a misleading name

You just really have to put your two cents in on everything don't you. If this is correct then how do you drift using heel toe? To continue a drift your rear wheels have to keep spinning. If you're pushing the brakes more than the gas then common sense would say that you're gonna stop the drift. I do not drift because my car isn't fast enough to do it and I don't have a LSD on my car yet.

I think I see... so basically the "heel toe" technique goes as so: 1) hit brake to move weight distro to front to let the rear wheels lose some traction 2) hit gas to rev match to downshift thus making wheels turn faster making em spin and initiate drift

I found this to be pretty accurate: http://www.turnfast.com/tech_driving/drivi...g_heeltoe.lasso |

You blip the gas to match the revs so you get a smooth transition. Otherwise you throw the weight back to far and induce understeer to quickly. Remember the biggest part of drift is weight transfer, do any rapid changes disturb the ability to drift. The wheels should break from interia, not from "clutch dumping". |
