Rumors from Japanese sources say that a new version of the driver is on test for a AOU'08 launch. The game includes two new courses and new cards. Will try and get more detail before the end of the year.

The quote from the source says it is a software update - that the game has new courses and cars and will be on full test end-of-the-Month, aiming for 2008 (AOU'08) show appearance. This source is very good and is why I have posted it now rather than wait till 2009, but the exact number of new tracks and cars is an issue - I have heard one source say more than two, but again too early for confirmation.

i think they gonna make ID4 the last arcade game....
By 2009, i believe ID will have been finished =(
Most likely, the new cars will be the ones in the future release of the manga..
Plus, MRS, Supra and NSX

I do hope you mean new CARS. I'd hate it if I have to get new CARDS.

Sorry my typo (all thumbs today) yes CARS not CARDS - though I know the cards have been hacked I think Sega dealt with than in the ID4 v1.1 update (that was the release version in the UK)?

On how quick - the game has not been as popular internationally as first hoped. I saw numbers that had MT3 doing better revenue numbers - for operators with ID4 it would be a quick LindBergh.1.1 update. I asked about it being at ATEI'08 but no answer.

Editor, if you can find a way to suggest the aura levels and ranks for the international version, that would boost more popularity for the game. Even that alone for just now.

Why not get the forum to send the comments to the ID4 ranking site at SOJ - they always like suggestions. The R&D team will be at AOU, but I am sure they would reply to forum member suggestions. I have zero influence as I only write in the scene.

Wow, looks like really good news on the new version of Initial D grin2.gif Hmmm... in that case, there may be a need to transfer data from old cards to new cards blink.gif because of the new courses whistling.gif

Cards only holds personal data such as particulars of the driver (avatar) and the car[s] an it's respective tunings.

Maps are stored in the machine hard disk itself and there's no need for a card transfer. We'll have to change card ONLY IF there is a card system/structure revamp.

well...if we really add new courses...thats mean they need to add 2 more slots in the ID4 card....which mean we need to get a new card anyway...correct?

i really hope that's a typo error, otherwise i'll just observe IDv4.1 from afar if new cards would have to be made...

it would be better if these would happen to IDv4.1 -- it's basically my ID5 wish list...
--the return of the "lost courses" from IDv3 and ID special stage (at least tsuchisaka is fine for me)
--the return of the "lost characters" (at least tomo and the 2 evo punks)
--BGM select
--battle level/aura system
--no more godly AE86 trueno

game physics can stay as is (in other words PC, in-in-out, and the like can stay), otherwise it'd be a huge flop...

I think what he was trying to point out was that on the current cards there are only 6 courses that each time 1 is cleared it would be crossed off, if there was 2 new courses, how would they put that on the cards? unless they disregard the current cards and only future card renewals would also have the new courses included aswell.
