Been working on a personal website for a bit now. I got most of it up and running, but it still needs some work and two more pages completed. What do you think?

I think you should ditch the green, and leave it with a creme coloring instead. Make it feel like a coffee shop, I think that would be a lot better in for prospective clients.

honestly, the only reason i went with that color scheme is it matches this design i got on a free business card from vistaprints.com. it wouldnt be my first choice, but i think the colors fit well together; it seems very xboxy to me.

edit: btw, is anyone else having loading problems on the main page? it seems the three little highlights under the splash pic do not show up when i first click on the link. but if i navigate to another page and back to the home page, they show up fine.... ???

I like the page so far. The color scheme isn't garish IMHO. The overall design looks pretty good, it's basic but not boring which is good since you're selling yourself as an artist. The functionality is not overly complex or "kewl" which is a good thing because it's very easy to navigate.

The only thing I have a slight issue with is the design element in the upper left hand corner of the main page. I'd be curious to hear what your reasoning was to put it there.

it matches the style of flowy curvy lines on the business card. lol, thats pretty much it.

i wouldn't say its unprofessional, in the fine arts industry, attractiveness is key.
it would be different if he was doing banking or real estate.

the site should be well designed and laid out, but also appealing to the eye. which it is.

however, a tread i'm noticing these days for art porfolio sites is the incredible simplism but plenty of flash galleries. most of them contain a enter screen of some sort as well lol
you can look into something like that if youd like.

the only unprofessional part would be the shout box. the site is supposed to advertise you, its not meant to be a place of public socialization.

i say stick with what you got, nothing wrong with it tbh



also ,the site loads fine for me, however, it felt slower to load than before. idk why lol

I guess I would rephrase what I said to be I mean as an artist's website I would go for a clean, sleek, minimalistic look.

And the Shoutbox doesn't fit on a portfolio website. :/

site took 28 seconds to finish loading.

its the drop down bars that's holding things up

Only took 8 seconds here and I am using Chrome. Perhaps try reducing the quality of the images a bit to improve loading time ? The site looks fine to me and I see room for improvement. Loading time being one of them.

are there any load time problems other than the photo pages? so far, i remember all the galleries were set to high. i can always re-render them at lower quality.

also, i wasn't really a big fan of the shoutbox myself, but i needed some other external widget to fill the second box area (and the twitter feed breaks my photo galleries for some reason). any other ideas of dynamic objects i could place in there?

Have you already tried just leaving it blank for a while (a day or two) and see how it being blank looks?
