Posted by: krs73 Feb 25 2008, 02:17 AM
play-asia has listed Initial D Extreme Stage for PS3 coming by the end of may 2008....
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bp-49-en-15-initial+d-70-2lx5-43-bm.html

is it too early for a big hooray? maybe, but at least that's the first glimpse of a new ID game....

Posted by: Kenji Feb 25 2008, 02:49 AM
LOL... how "EXTREME" is it...
The latest arcade stage is a little bit too EXTREME... laugh.gif

Posted by: megamonkey@hotmail Feb 25 2008, 03:20 AM
it's just one month and a few days. we should have started with the big hoorays in jan! grin2.gif

Posted by: Nomake Wan Feb 25 2008, 04:07 AM
I don't get it. I see it mentioned on a blog or two (as just a title with a release date), but there's no information at all about it. blink.gif I hope it's not just a port of IDAS4, because that would be a horrendous waste of the PS3's hardware.

Posted by: krs73 Feb 25 2008, 04:22 AM
well still better than another Need for Speed (especially if they're like Carbon or Pro Street)...i know ID4 is a mixed bag, but it's still better and more fun than most other arcade racers....and having a arcade perfect conversion plus some extra tracks wouldn't be bad for 70 bucks...

It would if they don't do any changes to the graphics engine, at least... I mean, come on; have you watched the wheelspin of the car in front of you during an online/instore battle? That's silly, and a limitation of the Lindbergh hardware that just plain isn't present in a PS3.

I don't mind if they port IDAS4 to PS3. But if they do, there better be some damn improvements! That's what I meant.

Posted by: Demon_Lord Feb 25 2008, 02:41 PM
If it is an IDAS4 port they might give us some extra goodies like Initial D special stage.
But I agree with Nomake if it is a port they better do some improvements.

Anyone think the G25 steering wheel will be compatible with this?

Posted by: InitialDRulz Feb 26 2008, 04:23 AM
Thats a bit strange..

Theres one that comes out May 29th 2008 (Japan Version) and another thats May 27th 2008 (Asia Version). How does that work?

Like always, if they are gonna release a game a few months away without 1 single information, then theres a high chance that its gonna be delayed to a later date.

Posted by: krs73 Feb 26 2008, 05:47 AM
lately the asian versions came out a couple of days before the jap version, so that's normal, about the delay, i guess you're right but hope you're wrong....

Posted by: brian mayhem Feb 26 2008, 06:06 AM
I'll believe it when I see it. So far, only Play Asia is reporting the title.

Posted by: BDDEE@ Feb 26 2008, 06:29 AM
itd be excellent if they released a wheel that turned same degrees as arcade wheel
but thatll never happen T_T

I thought I saw someone post about a new Logitech wheel that could turn 900 degrees in the gaming forum?

Posted by: BDDEE@ Feb 26 2008, 06:36 AM
bt 900 degree's is more than arcade
and that g25 wheel or watever...when u put it on IDSS it only recognises the turning upto 90 degree's each way anything after it...does nothing

Posted by: DXPetti Feb 26 2008, 12:36 PM
Its interesting that its not named like the previous installments. I hope its different to the arcade stage game. That should stay in the arcade where the 'arcadey' experience can be had. Almost no one has a setup like the arcades!

Mountain Vengence: Not made by SEGA, was made in the US by Tokyopop, sucked and rightly so. Don't use this game to compare other games.

Initial D PSX: Come on, give it some slack, it was a PSX game after all.
Initial D Special Stage: IDASv2 ported to PS2 with a few more cars and tracks. And a much longer story mode.
Initial D Street Stage: IDASv3 ported to PSP. Never played it, wouldn't know if it added anything.

Posted by: Demon_Lord Feb 26 2008, 03:36 PM
^ Street stage dropped one course Akina Snow, and the story mode was the same as the arcade. The tuning process was based on a card system as the arcade was based on points. Also you unlock BGM's, 2 videos and backgrounds for the loading screen via percentage(numbers of cards collected). Last it had Wi-Fi game play(never really used), all in all it was a good game.

I own Street stage, and i can tell you its about the same, just a little less detailed graphically, Bunta is easier and no Akina snow, which i really want now since i've been to all the courses down and uphill wink2.gif

according to this website sega made it official in famitsu...

http://www.gamefront.de/

http://www.gamezone.de/news_detail.asp?nid=60499

the sites are german, but they say that sega officially anounced IDES for PS3 in Famitsu...game is supposed to be released mid 2008...

Posted by: GetMePower Feb 27 2008, 04:43 PM
Yes, I was hoping for a new Initial D installment for the PS3. I hope it would support Driving Force Pro. It might be the same release date as Midnight Club Los Angeles, which I'm getting as well. With Extreme Stage, I don't have to go to the arcades at the casinos to play Arcade Stage 4. The good thing is that I won't waste my money playing at the arcades and get surrounded by a bunch of Vegas kids playing Initial D Arcade Stage 4. The bad thing? Nothing. I just rather play at my house without paying.

It's probably too early for a big hooray until they give us screenshots.

the course select screen and graphics look just like IDAS4. I wouldn't be disappointed if it's just a copy of the arcade version of IDAS4. I actually think it's pretty fun.

if this has internet battles, then im buying this and sticking to wmmt3 for arcade play

Now a game on PS3, this MUST be online!

PS: i noticed a picture of Tomo in the article. Does this mean the story mode will be expanded from what we have in AS4?

I expect no less from a game on a PS3. As I've said repeatedly, the PS3 is way more hardware than the Lindbergh arcade machine. As such, it would be downright foolish for IDES to be a direct port.

Can we change this topic to if your going to be getting it? if you have pre-ordered this from Play-Asia. sign your name on this list, and i guess ill start.

1. Akina lake
2. Myogi
3. Akagi
4. Akina
5. Iro
6. Tsukuba
7. Happo?? (yay, we got happo again XD )

Posted by: henshin Mar 2 2008, 08:16 AM
Wait, WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN! jeez, and I jsut got a psp and bought street stage >_> lucky I have a ps3 smile.gif So, I see a "2008" but when is it suppose to come out, quarter-wise?

Whoops, nvm, I went to play-asia and see it released between may 27-29. You guys think the asia version will come with an english instruction manual like asia ver street stage did? Because other than the $4 price difference, thats what I'm guessing...

Posted by: Excel Mar 2 2008, 12:04 PM
Looks like Happo - I know Happogahara translates in Chinese to like 8 way earth path or something, and the first character on the last map is the number 8.

Posted by: henshin Mar 2 2008, 03:48 PM
Does happo really translate into that? interesting, I wonder which part of the course would describe this "8 way earth path"! Hmmm, seeing as extreme stage will come out soon and that there will be online play, maybe this would be a good time add friends to the friends list! anyone care to share?

Posted by: Tessou Mar 2 2008, 04:19 PM
Why not bring back a fun course like Shomaru? Shomaru + rain = insanity. tongue.gif

Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 2 2008, 05:10 PM
sif happo isnt fun
its like...my all time favourite, im hoping that it is it being added into the game xDDDD
shomaru would be hella hard... because turning angle is greater so when you drift you would have to be perfectly inbetween each wall as the course is tighter

I've done some logical investigating by looking at the old IDAS3 website, looking at the track lengths, comparing it to the "new" one in the game.

It's Happogahara.

I am really hoping they bring many if not all of the tracks exclusive to Special Stage back. Because of those exclusive tracks, I still think its better than any arcade stage.

There was such a little amount of tracks on AS4, im sure they are able to add more than just Happo. As great a track it is, I want to see more of them.

What great timing to learn about this... I was excited because I was going to buy a Wii for the new Smash Bros this weekend but after seeing this... now I'm torn at getting a PS3 for this game. Plus I can find a PS3 anywhere-- the cash on the other hand...

Not to mention I leave to study abroad in Japan on that exact day the game is released in Japan so I can come home with it in my luggage.

Posted by: Tessou Mar 4 2008, 08:34 AM
I will definitely be buying a PS3 solely for this game. Online versus play FTW.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 4 2008, 02:01 PM
Preordered the Asia version on Play-Asia just now smile.gif Picked the fastest shipping option available, and getting the Asia version saves me a few bucks, has an earlier release date, and hopefully nets me a quickstart guide in English (lol).

I have not played ID since version 3/Street Stage. I had actually retired from ID with no intent of playing IDASv4 in the arcades, but since the console version is coming around in less than two months, I'm back in the game....without the use of tokens this time smile.gif

I personally hope they have EVERY stage from every game. Happo has already been revealed. The screenshots don't really show any room for other stages (i.e. there aren't any "??????" boxes on the stage select screen), but maybe they just did away with the "?????" options and just decided to add the courses to the list as you unlock them.

The courses still yet to be confirmed, shown, or otherwise added, are:
- Myogi (IDv1, 2, 3, Special + Street Stages)
- Usui (IDv1, 2, 3, Special + Street Stages)
- Akina Snow (IDv3)
- Shomaru (IDv3, Special + Street Stages)
- Enna Pass (ID Special Stage)
- Momiji Line (ID Special Stage)
- Tsuchisaka (IDv3, Street Stage)

Now I haven't played v4, but I've been watching videos as of late, and it looks a lot more "slippery" than the previous versions. Imagine Akina Snow in IDASv4/Extreme Stage... now THAT would be extreme.

If they decide to include a Story mode (like Special Stage had), it would only make sense to have all of the above mentioned courses in the game, so that manga/anime battles could take place on their respective courses.

I hope we get confirmation of more courses eventually. Can you tell how excited I am for this game?

Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 4 2008, 02:29 PM
If Siona is in this game, I'm definitely going to be buying it.

It was my best course in Special Stage, BY FAR.

Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 4 2008, 03:12 PM

Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 4 2008, 03:14 PM

yes it can. the ps3 is region free for PS3 games only. you can't play imported ps2 games though. anyways if you have a PS3, please be sure to leave your Playstation Network ID so we have battles with the US members. hopefully will kill the lag issues we might encounter with battling against people overseas.

I personally preordered the Asia version because it's like 5 bucks cheaper and comes out 2 days before the Japan version. I also ordered the Asia version of ID Street Stage for the PSP when it first came out. If the Asia version of Extreme Stage is anything like the Asia version of Street Stage, it will come with a quick start guide in English. Helpful to us non-Japanese speakers.

Preordered with the fastest shipping option (FedEx/UPS), and had like $10 still on my Paypal, which cushioned the overal impact on my wallet a little smile.gif

I wonder how bad lag will be playing with overseas players. Hopefully it won't make the game unenjoyable/unplayable. Plus, we'll probably run into some people who imported it online smile.gif

Is it to early to start a PSN id list? Whatever, I'm "keisukeMamoru86". I can't wait for this to come out - ID and MGS4 will finally pull me off of COD4

The differences between different versions are few.

The Japan version is in Japanese (no duh), whereas the Asia version is in Chinese and (usually) comes with an English manual for some reason.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 6 2008, 09:51 PM
I don't know...are you sure the Asia version is in Chinese? Because with the Asia version of Street Stage I got from Play-Asia, I could recognize some Katakana and Hiragana here and there (off the top of my head, the characters for Irohazaka on the course select screen). The characters also looked the same at the matchup screen ("blah blah vs. blah blah" Akina DH wet, etc.)

Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 7 2008, 02:24 AM
yeah my "asian" version of street stage was not chinese
came with english manual

Posted by: initial_drifter Mar 7 2008, 08:04 AM
if this game language is english then will be better and international gamers can understand

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 7 2008, 08:39 AM
Yeah I hope they include a language change option. How hard could it be to implement the story script, menus, etc. from IDAS4? It's not like they worked too hard translating IDAS4 to English anyway (one of the screens that probably should've said "Please Wait" says "Waitings..." instead)

Posted by: Tessou Mar 7 2008, 08:50 AM
I never played the Asia versions myself, but product descriptions listed the language as Chinese so I could have been wrong.

It does come with an English manual, that is a fact.

Posted by: Silfa Mar 7 2008, 09:19 AM
actually I played both versions of the Wangan Midnight game on the PS3, in the game the language is english and japanese. the english parts of the game are usually the menus, and some of the options. and with the asian version I did receive a english manual.

actually nevermind, when there is more information with this game. ill make a wiki or something.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 7 2008, 10:59 AM
As long as the menus at least are in English I'll be fine. Having the whole game in English (except no English voices, god no) as an option would be the best. I just don't want to refer to the English manual all the time

Posted by: W.A.R Mar 7 2008, 11:32 AM
Well when you play the game alot you usually get use to what to press and get around the menus. So having the english book would help you for like maybe a day that it you might not even read it again since you would already get use to the menus and settings.

I know, I also memorized the Street Stage menus. But because I have relatives and friends who will eventually play it, an English story/menu/etc. option could save us a little hassle.

Even though I'll figure out what option does what, it bugs me just a little when I can't actually read it without help

Posted by: brian mayhem Mar 7 2008, 02:50 PM
Took me an hour or two to figure out the Special Stage menu when I had gotten it for Christmas a few years back. This can't be that much different.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 7 2008, 10:13 PM
True. I don't think us hardcore fans will have any problem finding what's what. My only problem is that my gf/cousin/friend won't be able to sit down and fire up the game without me saying "pick that, then that, then that, that's time attack and that's options" etc.

And although most (if not all of us here) already knows what's going on in the story modes enough to not need any translation, it's still kinda nice to be able to actually read something in a language we understand. I've watched the unsubbed 3rd stage movie once after watching the subbed version a lot. Although I knew exactly what was happening, I didn't get the exact dialogue.

I wonder how much space of the Blu-Ray disc the game will take up. I think Special Stage came out to about 1.4GB of a possible 4.2 GB on a DVD, and Street Stage took up about 1GB of 1.8GB.

As for the stages, I hope they're all (all, as in the Special, version 3, and version 4 courses) there. I would hate to have the stages as downloadable content purely because I live here in the US (like many of us do) and can't set up a wallet for the Japanese PSN store.

well atm from what iv seen its only
akina lake
myogi
akagi
akina
iro
tsukuba
and happo(L)
hopefully theyll throw in a few more courses when it gets closer to release

Posted by: initial_drifter Mar 8 2008, 02:41 AM
i hope all courses in stage 4(anime) will feature in this game so i can get the feel of fun like the characters in anime.

Me too. Although I'm kinda having doubts that ALL of them would be there. There's 6 confirmed courses, and a total of 11 across all the games (excluding the 3-lap Myogi and Usui). Would be nice though, I mean they can just carry the preexisting tracks over and tweak them a little

I'll cry in happiness once I actually pop the ID Extreme disc into my system smile.gif. We're supposed to get new info from Famitsu (online, or magazine, I forgot) this Friday. Hopefully they can confirm more courses/features/details.

i saw new news about this game.this game will like arcade version 4

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 12 2008, 10:45 AM
Is there anybody who can do a translation of the magazine scan? I wonder what details it goes into. Also, here's the translated Famitsu web page:

http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.famitsu.com%2Fgame%2Fcoming%2F1213893_1407.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

Near the bottom of the page, it says this: " ※ For details, March 14, 2008 edition (released February 29, 2008) FAMI copies of the weekly check!"

It's a strange translation (I know, the online translators were never the best), and I'm trying to understand what it means. Is it saying there will be more Initial D coverage in the March 14th edition? Is it saying the March 14th edition came out on Feb 29? The wording is strange, I thought one of you guys could try your hand at cracking the bad translation.

Yes, there will be new, "more specific" info on the game on the 15th (which would be the 14th for people in the USA).

Yeah actually somebody found it a few pages back. I almost posted it too, haha.I wonder when it'll get updated.

Does Play-Asia always get their dates right? Because they posted the May-27th-29th dates a few days before the ID Extreme Stage rumors were confirmed. Famitsu lists it as coming this summer, does that May 27-29 range count as "summer" in Japan?

The reason I ask is because I forgot if the ID Street Stage (PSP) date on Play-Asia was ever pushed back or not. I wonder if the Extreme Stage dates Play-Asia has listed are just "placeholders", or are they actual release dates of the games as per Sega? I mean, they must know something, having posted it days before the rumors were confirmed.

Posted by: krs73 Mar 13 2008, 03:00 PM
usualy play-asia is quite accurate when it comes to release dates i would say...i guess they must have had some good source, either SEGA itself or famitsu...at least i hope it's coming end of may..now that i know it's coming i can barely wait...even though i never sought of a release that early after the release in the arcades...

I'm gonna be getting an HDTV within the next two weeks for my b-day (March 27th). I also already ordered Digital Out cables (coaxial and optical), and a optical-coaxial converter so I can get 5.1 surround sound from my games (that support 5.1). I'm getting kinda excited too, my setup will be ready to take in Extreme Stage in all it's high def glory.

The TV I'm picking up is a 37" Sharp Aquos 1080p set. It's NICE smile.gif

I'm gonna keep myself busy for a bit - the COD4 PS3 patch is out, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is out today, and there's a COD4 map pack releasing "sometime next month". Hopefully we hear something by then, and hopefully it's sooner, not later.

Game is set for a release on May 29th (in Japan), if I remember correctly.

As for new information, I don't see how much more info can be given. To me, it looks like a port of ID4 with nothing being left out..only being added. And so far, the only thing I see different is the addition of Happogahara. I'd personally like to see 4 course again, but I am only dreaming.

New info on extra stuff being put into the game is what we're agonizing over. Confirmation of other courses, inclusion and length of Story mode, Bunta Challenge, new cars, tuning methods (points? cards?). These are things we were hoping to hear more about

It seems that the online battles are going to be started by someone challenging a person in a "chat room" sort of speak. And if the one being challenged accepts, the battle starts..

I can't draw any parallels to any other games/whatnot that could paint a clearer picture. The remotely close thing I can think of is how Stepmania Online works.

Posted by: Silfa Mar 22 2008, 01:31 AM
well if you look at one of the screenshots, it looks like that your able to host a room up to 6 people. kinda weird why they choose the number 6. i hope they don't make it so 6 people can race at the same time. kinda like how when the Initial D movie was made with a 3 car battle which never took place.

Posted by: BDDEE@ Mar 22 2008, 04:52 AM
its probably like
6 people per lobby
you join the lobby and then choose someone to vs, or the computer automatically chooses someone for you
thats how some online pool games are set out.. this looks similar

Takumi vs. Nakazato (with Ryosuke following). Takumi noticed huge pressure from behind during the entire race, since Ryosuke was holding back. Pretty much the same thing happened in the live action movie, just switch Nakazato with Kyouichi and then have the race continue after the accident. tongue.gif

Doesn't ID4 in the arcade do the same thing only without a "lobby"? Like, find you a person to battle in your same class?

I'm just asking because it seems to me that this is just what happened with IDASv2 and Special Stage. Just with ID4 and IDEX..

Posted by: Omochao Mar 23 2008, 06:33 PM
@Ryosuke Gunma
I don't think they would include 2P in this game as Special Stage and Street Stage never feature this option...it would take too much of PS3 hardware.

Back on to topic....I think I'm gonna get a PS3 after the game is released.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 24 2008, 10:02 PM
I wonder if the gameplay changes included in the arcade 1.5 patch (penalty cancel is gone now) will be integrated into Extreme Stage. I can't imagine doing PC all the time on the console version. It'd be nice to play Extreme Stage with proper braking/line techniques

There is really no excuse for this anymore. IDEX isn't even a graphically impressive game. If photo realistic games like Gran Turismo can do multiplayer split screen, then a game that looks like IDEX should too. Sega might be too lazy to do it, but its really not a hardware issue at all. IDEX looks like it could be done on the PS2, technically.

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 Mar 25 2008, 09:21 AM
I think the problem isn't PS3 hardware, but rather, how the game would look onscreen. The game makes heavy use of several on screen gauges (tach, speed, time, advantage/disadvantage, map, opponent name) as well as the rear view mirror. I think allowing splitscreen in an ID game would make my eyes hurt, having either scrunched down versions of the above-mentioned HUD items or downright excluding some of them (I can easily see the rear view mirror being booted from splitscreen modes).

The PS2 and PS3 can handle splitscreen just fine. The game, however, just doesn't seem suited for splitscreen play.

Posted by: krs73 Mar 25 2008, 10:31 AM
we should just be glad that it even comes out, even if it's only a arcade translation without graphics update...you can see it that way if you have a PS3 and steering wheel, your get the closest to an arcade machine worth 15000$...that's not that bad. And seeing how the games market nowadays works, with not a big audience for arcade titles...i'm just glad they bring out...Special Stage wasn't perfect at all, but a whole lotof fun and i hope this will be the same...

If it makes you feel any better, the 80GB models are only as good at backwards compatibility as an Xbox360... they use software emulation.

Thats not true at all lol... The 80GB play about 80-85% of PS2 games, while, last I checked, the 360 only played 250 XB games(about 40% of all XB games).

Actually, they don't, the 80GB uses a combo of hardware and software, which is why the 40GB can't play PS2 games. If the 80GB used 100% software, then there would be no excuse for the 40GB not to have backwards compatibility.

Regardless, that wasn't your original point - it was that the 80GB was as bad as the 360 at BC, which isn't true.

Posted by: Soran Apr 7 2008, 10:12 PM
Backward emulation to me is kind of overrated, since Sony is still quietly producing PS2s in small numbers anyway. At the Sony outlet where i work, i usually tell customers that the money they save from buying the 40G version instead of the 80G version will let them buy a second-hand PS2 as well and still have a tidy sum left over as loose change....

Back to topic, yes the PS3 is region-free for PS3 games so u can order ID-EX straight from Japan and play it without any problems. The PS3 only has region coding for PS2 games (for the 20G/60G/80G versions) and Blu-Ray movie playback

Wrong. I was merely saying that the 80GB uses software emulation (which is true), and the Xbox360 uses software emulation (also true), and that the emulation of the 80GB is not as good as the 60GB (also true; you say yourself that it only does 80%).

Yeah I know. That's why I had to swap out my HDD for a 160GB as well. And to make up for the lack of wifi, I had to buy a Linksys Wireless gaming adapter that plugged into the PS3s ethernet port. It used to look real tacky, but my gaming rig is all set up and doesn't look bad at all.

Swapping HDDs is really easy. Just take out the HDD cover, remove a screw or two (forgot how many screws hold in the HDD), pull the HDD out, put the new one in. It's really self explanatory, I didn't have to look at the PS3 manual when I did my swap.

Anyways, I found a basic rundown of the 4/11 Famitsu release.

http://weeklygamejournal.blogspot.com/2008/04/famitsu-411.html

It confirms the 7/3 release of Initial D - Extreme Stage. So I wonder where that puts the Asia version's release date, since it generally comes out a few days before the JP version. Play-Asia lists the JP version for 7/3, while the Asia version lists it as "July 2008". I wonder if it could possibly slip into June 31st or something.

The 360 sales in Japan are actually pretty low. The PS3 is being outsold by the Wii there lke 3 to 1 (about 36k vs 13k each month), and the PS3 has been outselling 360 there by a bigger ratio (about 13k vs 3.5k each month). Or it could be Sega not thinking ID would be a 360 seller. While IDex will get diehard ID fans to buy PS3s purely for the game, I doubt it will move an immense amount of systems. It's like someone buying a PS3 for Ridge Racer 7 - it's rare and unheard of occasion.

It's funny, the Japanese Media Create Sales (lists both software and hardware sales in Japan) still tracks GBA SP sales. I didn't even know they still sold those. I kinda thought they moved on to the GB Micro (which I also haven't seen in a while). But google Media Create hardware sales if you want to see actual Wii/Ps3/360 sales numbers

Posted by: rockman227 Apr 9 2008, 11:48 AM
yeah is very easy to change the hard drive,i made some reaserch of my own and the two models of playstation 3 that are more compatible with playstation 2 games are the model of 40gb usa, but the european one of 40gb is the one that is more compatible than any other model, also the 20gb is the other one but unfortunately it was descontinued.

i personally changed the hard drive because i wanted to save all my initial videos from the computer to ps3 and it worked.

i have all the story including the manga, the only bad about the 20 gb is that doesn´t have the cardgates that the 40gb model had but i resolved it by purchasing a usb card reader not only for the stick duo but also for cf cards.

also it sucks that doesn have wifi but that is no problem for me because i have it next to the modem and i connect it directly with an ethernet cable

Seeing as they've used that art for all the ads, there's a good chance it'll end up being on the box when it releases. The bottom strip is advertising the features of the game, much like you'd see on the back of every game in the US.

MGS4, MGO, and COD4 will hold me over. And I'm trying to do a 100% run on Crisis Core FF7. I wonder when Famitsu is gonna do another preview/feature on the game. I wanna know more about what new features the PS3 version brings (courses, mainly) and some videos of it in action.

3/7/2008 seems to be official now, the date is now also on the IDES HP....and on many japanese online shops (like amazon, hmv etc.)...there's also a link from IDAS 4 to IDES

It has online. A little pamphlet came with Initial D Volume 37 about the whole online thing.

The bottom-left talks about the network service, whereas the middle-right talks about "Battling your nation-wide rivals to the limit using netplay!"

EDIT: The part talking about the "network service" says that it's for doing things like downloading new cars, new avatar parts, and downloading "comics." So I guess you can download new Initial D with this game? ohmy.gif

Woo.

create a new account in your ps3,what i mean create a new user session to log in a new account ,you can do it in options, next you need to create a playstation network new account, but you need to know a little of japanese to create it ,all you need is a japanese direction, for example you look for public building in japan in google, and then you copy the adress.

the steps of creating the account are the same that you use in north american account,so if you don´t know japanese memorize the fields that you need in english to fill out first and then you create a japanese one.

and voila you will have a japanese account. wink2.gif

i need that game is like the cigar you need more than one crying2.gif

Hmm. That depends. I mean, it comes out on the first day of the convention, so at that point, it's up to whether any of the vendors actually intend to get new inventory after opening day. Most vendors don't; they bring all they have to sell on day 1, and try to sell it all by day 4.

Oh wait...
Does it means... new... Eurobeat???? I hope. I hope Avex will offer some new songs to us because I'm kinda bored of their re-releases.

Anyway, back on subject, I don't think I will ever play this in my own life. PS3 are way too expansive, also I don't like everything that is Sony console. The only the PS3 is good for is the Blu-ray player... sorry Sony fans.

Posted by: Ronin-Panda May 8 2008, 07:50 AM
Nice, I just pre-ordered this game last night from Play-Asia. I started to play IDS4 at the arcade a lot but It started to get to expensive so I had to stop laugh.gif . This plus a Wheel will make for a great home experience, might not be anything like GT5 but I think even if the game "sucks" by review standards it will be an awesome and fun game for the fan of ID.

Posted by: Takeshi Nakazato May 8 2008, 10:54 AM
DFP support, definatly bought

but PS3 is a good system, games are solid, if my friends was not all on Xbox360, id prob only have a PS3. Its also good for a long time, where as I see xbox360 having to release a new system or something with the blu ray drive considering the games are only on dual layer dvds and thats a pretty small storage unit compared to blu ray and the ps3 is the best blu ray player out there in my opinion cus it can update its firmware and you dont have to buy a new player when they decide to use a new diff blu ray disc

Posted by: Tessou May 8 2008, 12:06 PM
Microsoft has already stated that they will not be doing anything to add Blu-Ray functionality to their systems. In response to the storage space on the discs, it doesn't seem like they've had too much of a problem bringing out quality on par (or higher in some cases) with the PS3 and it's larger capacity.

That would be messed up if the Asia version didn't have online play, similar to how the international IDAS4 has no online play/auras.

I wonder when the Asia version will get a date anyways. A month and a half away from the JP release, and still no firm date on the Asia version.

Not going to happen. You're confusing things. The reason the international version of IDAS4 does not have online play is because the online ability is provided by the company ALL.NET, which is NOT--I repeat, NOT--part of SEGA. It was their decision whether or not to include THEIR code and server access in the international version. Because prior ALL.NET games had poor profits, they pulled their support from the international release.

Initial D Extreme Stage does not utilize ALL.NET, it uses PlayStation Net.

Yeah, I'm just worrying too much. I was kinda thinking about some post about a page back, talking about the Asia version of GT5P missing a patch/update or something. Funny, because up until before that post, I was pretty sure that IDES would use the PSN. For some reason, reading that post made me think "what if the Asia/internatinal version gets gimped somehow?"

July 3rd...Assuming the Asia version comes out a few days before that (i.e. Jun 30, Jul 01), I wonder if that'll be enough time for me to stop playing MGS4. I'm probably gonna switch between the two, due to MGO and the awesome story that will be MGS4. Even with all the MGS and GTA hype going around, I'm still psyched for IDES.

So here is a question? will anyone be willing to help us people that can't read Japanese to figure out menus and options when the game comes out? I'm sure there will be options that should be turned on or off that we won't know about unless we can read it. It would be nice to have a thread once the game comes out for questions, translations and tips for us that don't read Japanese.

I'm really hyped for this game I have already pre-ordered it from play-asia and I really can't stop thinking about playing this game in a few months. laugh.gif

It's too hard to figure it out even if you don't know the language.

Just memerize each of the menu's. xD that's what i did for Special Stage and Street Stage... Street Stage was easy though since it looked the same as the arcade menu.

It should come with an english manual though. Since they gave Street Stage one, i can see them giving this game one too.

I'm considering switching to the JP version preorder on Play-Asia. We're about a month and a half away from release, and the Asia version still has no date, other than July 2008.

I'll hold out for a few more weeks, just to save a few bucks smile.gif I wonder what DLC will be made available for IDES. I hope we don't have to pay to DL courses that we could find in ID: Special Stage or IDASv3.

Initial D extreme stage has made its arrival into PS3¡¡

it has been 5 years since PS2 Special Stage edition was out. This stage will be out for the PS3, The mountain passes and the cars in the series are reproduced with series highest graphics, for the first time on initial D stage the level of excitation with every event scene " Real time water color shading " and the original touch of initial D world into a deluxe 3D conversion, will make that the taste of that kind of feeling that is the world “of initial D”! cannot be described. Furthermore it is not only the arcade edition but also has new things like happogara and all the rivals of takumi in initial d World.

It is hot even offline! The online battle is hotter!!

all known thanks to initial d world the mountain roads are back. myogi, akina, akagi all this 7 courses including 28 battles can be enjoyed. the rivals and 26 battles from the series, and the 23 types of cars can be enjoyed in"legends of streets"also ghost car and records can be enjoyed in "time attack mode", full customization of cars also will be possible in your own taste.

Furthermore the competition of an entire country, in the arcade way, the victory in the battle, it will run in the “network battle” and will increase house ranking!!

using the network function will make the game more complete! Also the network mode that uses PlayStation Network is complete!

“nationwide time attack ranking” records the times in "time attack mode" and is shown online because it downloads the ghost car data of the top ranking.

With PlayStation Store additional model datawill be available, various download contents such as additional avatars ,music and transmission schedule will be possible.

hope that this can be of help

here you go r3d. sony gossip on the psn forums had people believing that you could get banned for using a Japanese account on a US machine and downloading their content. had my PS3 since launch and still no ban. checked last night and the IDE demo is still not up. I think sometime after the MGS4 launch.

There's no need for this senseless arguing anymore. We got the information and that's that.

Anyways I just need some entertaining games for the summer, if only they had the NSX sad.gif . I hope they'll put it in the sequel to AS4.

I've had my JP PSN account since about a month after launch as well. No bans here. The Playstation Store updates every Thursday afternoon. So if the IDES demo is coming anytime soon, it would either be tomorrow, next thurs, the thurs after, or MGS4 release (thurs jun 12). I can't imagine the demo going up on the store only a week before the Asia/JP release. Haze demo was up nearly a month before the game's release, Heavenly Sword demo was up a month and a half before its release. Even DBZ Burst Limit demo is up 3 weeks before its release.

I say tomorrow (hopefully) or next thurs. I need something to hold me over til MGS4.

really all I see is user posted image, user posted image. your a tool tesso. get over yourself. its a damm screenshot, do you want a cookie for posting it if you did? even if I got a warning, ill talk to perry or one of the other admins.

Anyways, there isn't a NSX in the manga yet. Only a new Miata, Supra and a Evo IX.

If you're seeing the red X's, they're images from The Magic Box. The same images from IGN, but they were put on TMB about a week earlier than on IGN. I'm not looking for a cookie, I just wish you'd understand the error you made when you said the images were all from IGN when they weren't.

I don't see where you'd get a warning for anything in this thread, so whatever. Perry isn't an admin anyways, so he can't do much for you. The only admin here is Apex Carver. Besides, warnings can be negotiated with anyone from the mod team, not just admins.

from play-asia.com

Fans of this virtual racer have been waiting for five long years since Sega released Initial D Special Stage on PlayStation2. To justify this long wait, Sega upgraded this installment by making use of the advanced graphical
capabilities of the PlayStation3 console, the visions of familiar cars and mountain regions are recreated with striking resemblances to reality, making the game play more exciting than ever.

The event scenes and characters are drawn with water color shading techniques similar to the style of the comic artist Shuichi Shigeno so players can experience a full absorption into the world of Initial D.

The old courses in the Gunma prefecture and characters as featured in the arcade games are included in this new installment. In addition to that, the developers put in new characters like the pro-racer Tomoyuki Tachi whom
Takumi regards as his eternal rival and new courses in Happogahara.

The twenty eight race courses in the game are from the hilly regions of Akina and Myogi etc. There are twenty three cars and twenty six drivers to choose from and to beat. Collect points and customize your car, connect to the network and take on racers from all over the country and aim for the
highest place in the National Time Attack rankings.

National Time Attack ranking records the data of the players who raced under the Time Attack mode. Download the ghost car data of the top racer in this chart and launch the Time Attack mode in the game. Make use of PlayStation3's networking facilities and visit the PlayStation Store to
download more cars' data, avatars, music etc

28 courses....is this for real

Posted by: Yoshida Seiji May 22 2008, 07:22 PM
I think it means, 28 stages.

Edit: AKA; 28 different races.

Posted by: 5-GeaR_LoveR May 22 2008, 07:23 PM
Are there even 28 courses in Initial D yet? Unless they mean uphill, downhill and such. Also an NSX did make an appearance,, but it just hasn't raced yet, that's why I'm hoping it'll be in the next Arcade Stage. I'm guessing the story mode will just follow the story in the manga.

Posted by: Tessou May 22 2008, 07:29 PM
28 rivals over 8 courses. Sounds about right.

I think it's the one right before the latest release. Check the Initial D development thread, as I'm sure fuji_tak or someone else posted pics and info on the NSX there.

Hmmm 28 stages...

I do hope it's not like SS, where a few of the stages were pointless (i.e. the stage where you try to get Iketani sick, or the one where you are racing a S13 on Akagi with a 180SX).

28 stages = 7 courses

7 courses + uphill, downhill, rain, dry

7x 4 variations = 28 stages

tadaaaaaaa

the asian version only comes with a English Manual. but the game is still in japanese. if you played street stage, you should be able to understand the menus a little bit. if not wait for gamefaqs to come up with a translation. THANK GOODNESS the point system from ID4 is on Extreme.

I think it's during the races with team 246. Hojo, I believe and the mechanic (forgot the name) are watching the races trying to come up with a strategy to beat Project D. I think the team's called Sidewinder, they might be the last team to race in Kanagawa.

About the game, you don't really need to know about the menus anyway. I'm pretty sure the menus will be in traditional order as in Story, Vs., Time Attack and so on.

Posted by: Silfa May 24 2008, 05:59 PM
^ exactly. well the demo wasn't released this week. stay tuned, could be very soon. I guess the demo only has 1 race? and its on the new myogi track which is pretty fun and fast. better then then previous one.

mine will come with an english manual and the demo hasnt been released yet

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 May 24 2008, 10:35 PM
The screenshots of the game menus show that's it's partially in english. There are English words in parentheses (like "Course Select", "Room Select"), so I assume there will be enough English to get us into a game quick.

Posted by: Phantom_R32 May 25 2008, 09:48 AM
And if people are having trouble.. I'm sure someone would be generous enough to scan their manual.

Posted by: divinity Jy May 26 2008, 06:35 AM
So I was originally going to buy the Japanese version just because I'm pretty sure I won't need to manual. But since the Asia Version is $15 cheaper.... Is there any other difference? Why would it be that much cheaper?

Posted by: Tessou May 26 2008, 08:23 AM
Iunno, maybe because it's primarily going to China, where everything's cheaper. wink2.gif

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 May 27 2008, 04:17 PM
It's official. I'm switching my Asia version preorder to the JP version. I wonder why they excluded it from the Asia version...

EDIT: So I only had to pay an extra $10 or so, since I just hit "Modify Order", removed the Asia version from my cart, and replaced it with the JP version. I still can't see why they'd exclude online play from the Asia version. The PSN is able to support multi-regional play. At the least, the Asia version should've been able to play online with other Asia version-owners. Why they booted it from only the Asia version is beyond me.

Oh well. I'm sure we could all do without the English manual anyways. That was the only difference. The screenshots we've seen thus far are from the JP version, and even they have a little English built into it (Course Select, Room Select, I think I've mentioned this before...)

A month and a half left! Why did it have to release the day before a national holiday? sad.gif

That's the first I've heard of the JP version of Street Stage coming with an English manual. So hopefully it happens with the JP version of Extreme Stage as well. Hopefully everyone here decides to switch their Asia version to the JP version (or buy the JP version if they didn't buy either already) so we can all play online. I don't know who would sacrifice online play for a guaranteed English manual. Besides, we're all going to figure out how to navigate the game menus eventually, and someone will probably post up a FAQ on how to do so.

My friend must've lied to me when he pre-ordered ours about a month before the game came out. -____-

It appears my street stage case doesn't have that CERO logo in the top right corner like the JPN street stage. So it must be the asian one. :\

I just got that email too, but hold on, isn't there a way to still have an online match within OUR region, lets say idk, hamachi or something? lol, I may not have a clue as to what I'm talking about, but after having online support denied for us poor importers outside japan, I'm getting a little desperate sad.gif

Posted by: keisukeMamoru86 May 28 2008, 07:40 AM
Shit. Well, I'm still getting it. If not for online play, at least I can experiences IDAS4 at home. I don't have the time to hit up the arcades nowadays, so Extreme Stage is still good in my book. I'm still in denial about the whole online play thing though. Hopefully it gets fixed, there's still a few more weeks until the game probably goes gold and they start mass producing them.
