【頭文字D】

原作は1995年より「週刊ヤングマガジン」(作者：しげの秀一）で連載中の大ヒット漫画。

関東の名立たる峠道を舞台に、本来ならば「若葉マーク」であるはずの主人公、藤原拓海が、豆腐屋を営む父親の愛車、AE86型（ハチロク）スプリンタートレノを駆り、各地の峠の名だたる走り屋たちの車を相手にダウンヒルバトルを繰り広げ、“公道最速”を目指すストーリー。

1998年にアニメ化され大ヒット、以降Second Stage、Third Stage、 Fourth Stageとシリーズを重ね、今回の最新シリーズはFifth Stageとして、Fourth Stageから約6年振りにアニメ化が決定した。

No, they're playing it PPV before the DVDs are released.

Sky Perfect is the cable or satellite service, Animax PPV is the channel.

That's very strange. Why are they saying that the DVD is 前 (before, ahead of) the exclusive broadcast, then? Am I reading things incorrectly?

Oh lord. I think he's been gone so long, he doesn't even know Tokyopop went bankrupt, let alone that Funimation acquired the rights to the series ages ago.

At any rate, I am so excited about this news, it's just barely starting to sink in! Best news of the year!

Oh God, Finally! I was waiting about 6 years for this day
I wasn't sure if it was 5th Stage, when they said "New Initial D Project", but today everything is clarified

Now I'm hoping for some Blu-Ray release of whole Initial D series

Although.. I hope they don't pull the same crap they did with 4th Stage. Where they cut out Keisuke's first two races.

The only bad thing is, we probably won't see the first race till episode 3. Because if I remember correctly, they deal with those fake Project D bozos. Then Takumi and Mika have a few outings together.

Great news. I'm going to wait for this to be licensed here, hopefully it does. As much as I don't like the way the manga goes after 4th Stage's events seeing more of the anime would be nice.

And I liked Funi's dub for the record. Someone also relayed the new anime news to Joel McDonald (Takumi's VA) on Twitter.

Hello! This is going to be my 1st post here.

Wonderful news after 6 years, I thought the games where continuation of the anime. By the way, I've Initial D Music Lossy Collection [ver. 4.3] folder with the complete albums, do they have the tracklist for 5th stage?

I read on Crunchyroll www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/07/30/new-initial-d-anime-series-announced that they're going to replace Eurobeats songs for Hip-Hop songs and remove some scenes/change that can't be showed or try to make it more appeal for the USA. I hope they don't do that because that is going to kill the anime action, Japanese version is better. If this info. is true?

Absolutely 100% untrue. The hip hop Americanization was a product of Tokyopop, which held the license many years ago. Here's an example of what they thought was "cool" to do to Initial D.

Thankfully, Kodansha revoked their manga rights, and Funimation picked up the expired anime rights back in 2010. Funimation has treated the series very well and never adds anything to the series without reason (missing BGM, for instance). They re-released the series, without any unnecessary alterations, in 2010 and 2011.

The formula of Initial D is not going to be broken. Avex, which is the distributor of Initial D, also handles the Super Eurobeat label in Japan, so they're making nothing but profit on Eurobeat soundtracks for the show (no money wasted licensing music).

oh man those "Tricked Out" versions on the Tokyopop dvds are the absolute worst!!
