I love this movie. I havn't seen any of the actual Escaflowne episodes but the movie is mind-boggling good. I loved it and will watch it over and over and over, lol.

the movie is more gore-y compared to the series
the main character is more serious and vicious in the movie compared to the series

and the series goes into more detail with the story and has mini episodes... the movie is more of the compact and closer to realistic version of escaflowne... since the main character IS supposedly a great fighter... hehe...

*i forget the main chara's name... von fannel or something...?

I seen the series a year ago, when I was watching it the series goes into detail as well. But when I was watching the movie I was a little bit confused you see I take to my brother's friend about the movie I said to him "Is this a continuation to where the series left off?." And he said to me "It has nothing to do with the series." So I was confused up to now. So I need your honest opinion, Is Escaflowne: The Movie a continuation to where the series left off? & Why?

As Indy said... they're independent from each other...
sure they share the same characters and plot line... but from what i can see... i think the movie is just the compressed, serious, and graphic version of the series...
the series of course doesn't show much blood due to its target audience on television... the movie doesn't have that barrier to worry about...
the series is pretty much the same as the movie but in a more subtle and lighter way...

Blood..... gore and violence.

Things, that I so desire and love.

Now then, that could explain why I love the Escaflowne movie so much. It's pretty good in my opinion, yes, it's a bit independant and different from the TV series but otherwise, I don't see that much wrong about it. The characters are essentially the same and the plot follows through.

Just more action and violence, that's all. No harm in that now, is there?
