You can get more than enough power from just 1 single turbo, so why complicate the matters with 2. I will also add that nearly all high spec Supras, Skylines etc all run one large single turbo - as 1 large turbo will actually spool alot more than 2 smaller turbo's. Also have any of you seen the engine bay of an MR2 Turbo - you couldnt possibly fit another in there without some serious work, and moving alot of engine components. Garage Fukui SPL run the highest powered MR2 Turbo which tops out at 800 BHP this runs a single turbo. However the 3SGTE engine in the mr2 turbo is also used in Supras taking part in the Japanese touring car series, as the engine is lighter than the supra block giving better power to weight ration and handling. There is also another kdel of 3SGTE which is primarly used for very high power aplications. Its called the 503 and still runs a single turbo but is capable of handling upto 70 - psi, in other words well over 1000bhp. Mostly found on Pike peaks hill climbers (tacoma) or toyotas MR2 leman entries. The car in Initial D isnt a turbo, its an NA ! You can tell this from the gauges - and for the fact that an MR2 turbo would rape an AE86
People get confused with the term twin entry turbo (found on the MR2T) - nothing to do with 2 turbo's just means it has a double wastegate !
Seen it too, single turbo 3SGTE lump ! I also have the tech spec's of the car if i can find them ! Regards bullwinkle | ||||

And I know that MR2's run a single turbo, but when they said "dual turbo" I got a little curious. Thanks for clearing that up! |
