|About the teams, there are alos a lot of people who race solo such as Kai, Wataru, Takumi *spoiler* the two guys from tokyo, kyoko, Sakamoto i think, nobuhiko i think, and another racing team i can remember is Toudou-Juku and i think they race on Happo|
|Posted by: Indecisive Oct 2 2003, 12:47 PM|
| I'll add a "who races but isn't on a team?"
if somebody can confirm the 4th stage teams and solo racers for me it would be great.
|Posted by: Kev Oct 2 2003, 02:11 PM|
| im positive SPOLIER "Toudou-Juku and i think they race on Happo" this is right
|Posted by: zeo Oct 10 2003, 10:15 AM|
| I know this is being knit picky, but I figured I'd post the info up.
The stock 4age engine was 130 HP. That's a pretty generous figure too, it's probably a bit lower on most engines.
That and I'd say Takumi's 2nd engine is probably based off an AE111 engine, not really significant since VVT is turned off. But basically it's a TRD Group A engine. Group A was a race series in Japan. All the part #s are listed in the TRD Levin/Trueno Bible.
|Posted by: bunta_boi Oct 10 2003, 10:37 AM|
|so how did it get flown in from afar?|
|Posted by: zeo Oct 16 2003, 01:55 PM|
| My guess? That they didn't get the engine built locally, that an engine builder built the engine. A company like Toda Racing, or TRD. TRD Japan preps all the motors for Toyota's Japan race teams.
I don't think that's really important to the storyline though, if it was I'm sure the would have gone in to more detail about it.
|Posted by: sti_drifter Nov 7 2003, 07:30 PM|
| the engine came from one of buntas contacts at a local garage, i think it might have had something to do with the drift king, if someone could claridy that it would be great.
Thanx for all those, i mena, i didn't know it all bu im sure it will help noobs(liek i was a month ago) understand a bit more bout id
|Posted by: Kamui Nov 11 2003, 10:25 AM|
|wasen't the engine flown in from a from a different countrey|
|Posted by: Kev Nov 11 2003, 10:59 AM|
|yea im pretty sure it was.|
|Posted by: Kev Nov 25 2003, 03:23 PM|
| Sorry for the double post.
Ok so i just want to say that the Second race (in Third Stage) against Ryousuke wasnt really a rematch. *spoiler* Im pretty sure that takumi just wanted to race with him just because he needed to make his decision about Project D. Dont think it was a rematch.

| If i order this DVD set does it come in English so i dont have to read the subtitles? It only says Japanese dialogue but is there a option to change it to english?
this is the one i wanan buy.
|Posted by: Evolution Nov 29 2003, 03:28 PM|
|You going to have to read subtitles. If you dont want to listen to the tokypop garbage and watch ID how it was suppose to be|
|Posted by: Alex Nov 29 2003, 04:26 PM|
|The only existing English dialogue version of Initial D is the TokyoPop version.|
|Posted by: Indecisive Nov 29 2003, 04:42 PM|
which is CRAP
can somebody let this guy listen to the raped version.
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Nov 29 2003, 05:14 PM|
|i turned the subtitles on and made it speak japanese and english and watched it. There is a huge diffrence i like the orginal verson better.|
|Posted by: Evolution Nov 30 2003, 06:20 AM|
| For the TP dvds?
Its still garbage if you did.
|Posted by: S15-guy Nov 30 2003, 09:29 AM|
there are whole sections of the storyline that were removed from the TP DVD's because they were not appropriate for 10 year olds. THATS why they suck
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Nov 30 2003, 12:46 PM|
|If i do the Jackadeal thing is it the unedited versions? i dont wanna stick out 100 bucks for something that i can get locally|
|Posted by: Kev Nov 30 2003, 01:09 PM|
|ummm....duh? Obviously, jack a deal supplies the original versions of initial d (non butchered) with sub titles at the bottom. Thats pretty much it.|
|Posted by: Evolution Nov 30 2003, 01:40 PM|
You are going to waste even more money buying those TP dvds. When thy brought it over to North America to make money to they put out 3 episodes on each dvd.
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Nov 30 2003, 01:51 PM|
| yeah but to me its worth the extra since i dont have to wait for it to arrive i can go there buy it and leave with it not buy it and wait like a week or 2. if the Jack A deal though are the real versions not the edited. If its the unedited versions then its worth the money to me. If its edited i can go to the mall and get them.
|Posted by: Evolution Nov 30 2003, 02:06 PM|
|Its the unedited ones Jack A Deal is selling. Buy those ones much better than TP dvds|
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Dec 1 2003, 12:32 PM|
| ok thank you. Im actully geting the real dvds not some burned copy you would get off ebay right?
|Posted by: Alex Dec 1 2003, 01:39 PM|
|Jackadeal.com sells the real thing. Japanese dialogue with english subtitles available, I'm pretty sure they also have chinese subtitles available. I ordered some from him on the 20th and he says they should be here soon...|
|Posted by: Indecisive Dec 1 2003, 03:18 PM|
did you order through perry or directly from him man?
and yes. the ones from Jackadeal.com are the real dvds. they are in japanese with chinese or chinese subtitles.
3rd stage comes with a "making of" disc too I think.
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Dec 6 2003, 04:37 PM|
|i tried to get them from a local store so i didnt have to order over the internet and have them at the moment and they said that those are bootlegs not the orginal. Whats the diffrence if ithey are? All they said is they could tell b/c of the subtitles come in chinese instead of japanese.|
|Posted by: Indecisive Dec 7 2003, 10:19 PM|
here's a question...
why would a show that's dubbed in japanese have japanese subtitles?
yea...that's what they thought. those fools at the shop are just trying to make you buy from them.
|Posted by: CrypticApathy Dec 10 2003, 04:30 PM|
| im not trying to argue i learned to never do that with a female :-p .
same reason DVD's made in america have english subtitles. Hearing impared. But i get what your saying. I was just wondering.
|Posted by: Alex Jan 3 2004, 02:06 PM|
my order got phucked so I never got them...why always me? no seriously, I always do something wrong, lol.

|Posted by: Kamui Jan 3 2004, 11:16 PM|

|did takumi ever bought a new car???|
|Posted by: Indecisive Jan 8 2004, 01:34 AM|
|as far as we know, he doesn't buy his own car|
|Posted by: Kev Jan 8 2004, 08:02 AM|
|he does get the new Group A AE101 Engine and with that Takumi himself considers that a new car. Technically it isnt.|
|Posted by: LiQuiD Apr 1 2004, 05:11 PM|
|What exactly happened to Takumi's mother?|
|Posted by: Zigen1 Apr 1 2004, 11:06 PM|
Yup, i'd rather have that engine than of changing takumi's car say into a celica or a newer corolla. Its an all-motor engine with an output of 250hp. High rev unit- 11,000rpm cutoff.
Imagine it can stand up against blown (turbo-charged) motors, almost all his oponents except the Nissan Q and the Eg hatch, have blown motors.
|Posted by: id0ru Apr 2 2004, 08:12 AM|
| I'm pretty sure the ones on jackadeal are actually Hong Kong bootlegs. Even if they are good quality. The official Japanese DVDs i've seen have no english subtitles at all.
And Anime International is based in China.
I am of course human and could be wrong. But those are good quality DVDs if that is all you are after.
|Posted by: id0ru Apr 2 2004, 08:15 AM|
|Whoops Kamui didn't read your post.|
|Posted by: JakeB1322 May 1 2004, 11:36 AM|
| Those dvds at jackadeal are definately bootleg Hong Kong dvds. Not that there is any problem with that. It's better than watching TP's version. Uhh, and the stupid rap music, I just abhor TP now, at least they can't change the music in their manga . Anywho, you can get the same Hk discs from eDVDStore
I have bought from them before, and they seem reliable, I never had any problems with them. But the main difference is that they blow jackadeals prices away. I hope this helps somebody.
|Posted by: Evolution May 1 2004, 12:19 PM|
But Jackadeal supports this site. So buy from them instead
|Posted by: boostdragon May 10 2004, 02:04 PM|
unless it's the 4A-GZE 20-valve engine, i think it would probably put out close to 150 hp. Pro Spirit in Japan has a Trueno Levin as an R&D car, it's putting out 204 hp@8500rpm, not sure if that's at the wheels or the crank.

| Hello all,
I recently discovered Initial D (picked up the 3 volume Book set that's on sale at RadioShack).
So far I only know the story from reading the books (Vol1, 2 and 3) and from watching the TP DVD versions disk 1 and 2.
I've gone through the FAQs and still have a few questions, please bear with me if these are already covered.
1. The books are released by TP (supposedly 100% Manga) and have 13 volumes, with a 14th coming soon. Where in the storyline, compared to the shows/DVDs, do the books coincide?
2. I've been reading a LOT about how TP isn't keeping with the original Japanese versions. Can anyone give more specifics? Is it only a matter of cutting out some scenes? Or are we talking totally different animations and such?
|Posted by: Takumi Trueno Aug 22 2004, 11:00 AM|
|Do you want to just talk about how TP ruined the manga or how they ruined the show. They have ruined the show much more then the manga. Though in the manga they have cut out some vital scenes. Why they did that, I dont know, they are just on crack 24/7. I havent read the manga from TP but I have heard enough and I read either scanelations or the Chinese version. Im not sure of every cut out scene, but I know one would kind of be a spoiler. TP changed the animations of the show trying to make it look new and better actually making in worse in my opinion. They have changed the music and battle scenes. I told feel like talking about how much TP has ruined Initial D. I didnt really have a problem with TP until they touch Initial D.|

| Well, I've gone through the first 19 episodes of Stage 1 now...Watching the Japanese with english subs version, chines dubbed with english subs (and of course originally watching the TP english dubbed version as well).
I can see now why you guys are rather disappointed with how things were done with ID. The original Japanese with English sub (it's purest form) is just an 'edgier' and more intense show...It's a real shame to see it watered down in the other incarnations.
I'll have to see if I can still cancel my book order, then I'll be stopping by jackadeal and seeing about picking up some DVDs!...They sell the Japanese with english sub versions right?
|Posted by: Perry Aug 24 2004, 12:18 PM|

|Posted by: SupahNewbie Oct 21 2004, 06:21 PM|
| Is TP a japanese company? A half-half? Or pure north american?
If the first or second, then they have done what no japanese company has done, make people hate them for their crappy quality.
That deserves a prize right there.
|Posted by: ryot4 Oct 27 2004, 05:19 AM|
| if you ask me, the company is 100% american... even tho the founder went to school at tokyo u. he's an american businessman with an american management team. the only japanese part of TP would probably be the translators, who are most likely freelance...
woo! sorry there, i'm just a little po'd at them (at least till they release the full original anime/manga)

just curious but are the subs in this bundle pack, the subs that everyone are saying is god awful.
I remember when we had that drought and the subs for eps 5 and 6 were coming out late and one person said it already on dvd or something like that but the subs were really bad. Are these dvd's the same batch or is it some outside source with better subbing.
|Posted by: Perry Oct 30 2004, 01:31 AM|
| For the DVDs, the subtitles in ep.1-2 were really bad. It's a little bit better in ep.3-4. And the subtitles in ep.5-6 were alright. It seems they have improved. Let's hope the subtitles in the DVDs will only get better and better.
These DVDs are all from HongKong by the way. If you have some money to burn, you can get the Japanese Oversea version of the DVDs. Which is $59.95 per DVD (2 episodes). But I don't think those have English subtitles. Go check it out on http://www.yesasia.com

| Hi I'm new here I've read through the faq's but there's still some stuff that I want to know. These might be on the forum somewhere but I'm just going to ask please forgive me if I'm asking lame questions.
Ok for starters I started watching ID about a month ago I picked up all of the volumes currently released by TP (after reading through the FAQ's I'm kinda pissed that I did) My biggest question is where can I get legal copies of the REAL anime I don't mind reading subtitles so thats not a concern, I've read that TP hacked apart the show (even in the "classic" version that I thought was supposed to be straight from TV) but I don't want to just DL it from a p2p (also because I'm on dial up it would take months). Is it even posible to get copies of Initial D that are 1) True unedited direct from Japan versions 2) I want to make sure they are not bootlegs because I would like to know that the money I'm spending supports the shows creators and not just some guy with a DVD burner. I read in these faq's that jackadeal sells bootlegs is this true or not? If it is true please don't suggest them.
Another question is, is Initial D complete? because I read in the faq's that the last race (I think it was against the fc3s) is unfinished. I assume that means that the last episode aired was a cliffhanger in the middle of a race but I guess it could mean that the series just leaves it that way. I thought I had seen a "complete" colection on ebay that had series 1,2,3, the extra stage, battle stage, and series 4 but if it's not over how could that be possible?
My last question is a little easier to answer (I think) and that is, is Mogi (Tak (Takumi)'s GF) a prostitue? I read somewhere that she has a pimp (who's that?) and that Tak (Takumi) doesn't know that she is or something along those lines. Is that something that is left out of the TP dvd's cause I've seen up through episode 24 and I swear there's nothing like that mention.
I'm sorry this is so long but I had a lot of questions that I would like to get answers to, any info you have (especially about how to get uneditied legal copies of the show, besides learning Japanese and flying to Japan) would really be apreciated. thanks for your time
|Posted by: spinnee Nov 28 2004, 06:22 AM|
| 1st: you could buy the originals via the sponsors above, or you could go ebay for used copies. for d/l via bittorent, you could search at IDW torrents sections or you could visit suprnova.org.
2nd: at per now, the anime/manga are not completed yet.
3rd: mogi is more like a social escort, not a prostitute, but it's believed she had traded sexual services with 'papa', the one who drives the benz. the 'pimp' u mentioned was 'papa' son, who had boasted of having mogi going to bed with him (when takumi overheard it and punched the guy). so he's not a pimp, he acted like a pimp.
hope it helps. if u need more information, the search function would be very useful for you. if not, try reading backwards of the topics discussed in the general discussion section
|Posted by: ID FNG Nov 28 2004, 06:37 AM|
| Hey thanks for the info . I guess that explains somethings about the benz driving guy (all along I thought it was her dad, which would have been kinda gross consitering the comments he made to her, but even more disgusting now lol). And just for clarification before I go out and re buy basically all of stage 1. I read that there are "sexual type" scenes that were removed from the TP edition. Is that true for the "classic" version as well because it's suposed to be he straight from tv version?
In other words are they actual scenes that were cut or is it just like language. for example when Mogi first gets in the car with her "papa" in the english he comments on her school outfit, but in the subtitled he makes a more sexual remark and she responds about him being horney as always. I ask because I've bought up through vol. 8 so I have almost 200 bucks in the series and if I buy the imports I want to make sure I'm buying something that has actual pieces of the anime in it that were taken out and not just buying a Japanese version minus a dubbed option. Do you get what I'm saying?
btw is the guy in the locker room that takumi punches in the face the same guy that drives the benz? If so that's one super rich high school kid lol.
|Posted by: spinnee Nov 28 2004, 08:36 AM|
| sorry, i've not touched/seen any episode from TP cuz it's crap.
in fact, there's no sexual scenes in the anime. not sure on the manga, but i believe it's not in it as well, cuz it's vaguely shown cuz it wasn't the real point to be focused. nor there were sexual remarks and mogi or 'papa' acted sexually deprived. they acted like they were sort of related like father and daughter.
in fact, if your's TP version, the names would be americanised eg> takumi = Tak (Takumi)?
i mentioned in my previous post, the guy that was acting like a pimp, who had an informal race with takumi in the snow, and was punched by takumi, was the "papa" 's son. this is only reflected in the manga (as i've read in the topic discussed earlier), not pointed out in the anime though.
but ya, he's a super rich kid, cuz papa's rich too.
i strongly suggest you take some time reading up the topics/ dl the torrents to see the english subbed raws. it'll benefit you cuz it's the original copy (and takumi deliver tofu, not PIZZA), rather to see some TP production
|Posted by: ID FNG Nov 29 2004, 02:16 AM|
| Ok then I was thinking that there were sceens that were deleted beacuse TP didn't think Americans could handle sex in anime . In the discs I have the "classic" is supposed to be the straight from tv version, and I assume it really is, the "tricked out" version is the one your talking about where the names are changed and the dialog is changed (but he doesn't deliver pizza even though I had read that it was thier original plan) someday I will get a hold of a few episodes from japan and see how much difference there is between them and the "classic" version I have. Basically my biggest thing is if my "classic" is the real thing then I'll just watch that. I admit the "americanized" is lame, the first time I watched the "classic" it was quite different.
I guess my point is if I have the real version on the disc I will just watch it, and ignore that it has the american version on it, but if there's MORE on the japanese thats not even on the "classic" that TP put on the disc then I'll get the ones from Japan. any way enough about this, thanks for all the info you've given me, and for making clear who Mogi, and the benz driver really were
|Posted by: spinnee Nov 29 2004, 02:21 AM|
| no problem.
for more self help, use the search function.
|Posted by: Perry Nov 29 2004, 12:57 PM|
| Please refer to this topic for the Initial D DVDs released by TokyoPop.
There is no sexual scenes in the anime as mentioned previously by spinnee. However, there are explicit nude scene in the manga. I believe BiBi posted up some scans of that earlier in the year. Try searching for the keyword phrase "Papa, Mogi", you should find something.
If you really want the authentic DVDs from Japan, you have to go to www.YesAsia.com . They are really pricey. ; )
|Posted by: prissandthehighwaystar Nov 29 2004, 04:32 PM|
I'm confused, whoever said Takumi delivered Pizza?
The classic version of TP's stuff seems to be left alone. The dubbed version looks like it was made in the hopes of having in aired on american TV.
(now I want fried toufu)

| Sheesh...it's really been too long.
ID FNG - The prostitute question has been asked and answered about a million times, but yes, Naz does do the nasty with Papa. The exact extent isn't know, but it is most definitely a sexual relationship. For money. This is NOT a big mystery in the translated manga, BTW. (They play it down a tiny bit in volume 1 and do a bit of "artful draping" in volume 9, but it all becomes very clear soon enough.)
There's no word on whether Miki and Papa are related (the rumor about Miki being his son is based on a faulty translation). They almost certainly aren't. Shigeno-san's never developed either character beyond their minor arcs, so it's a non-issue anyway.
The subtitled version is like it is in the original...no nicks, no "Westernized" slang, nuthin'. (I won't debate the accuracy of the translations, although from what I know, I think they're perfectly fine.) You're never forced to watch the dub, so don't worry about that.
As for censorship, Tokyopop altered two panels...the only two explicitly nude/sexual panels in the entire manga (I don't know about the anime). Many possible reasons why they did this, but the most likely one is that they didn't want two lousy panels flagging the entire series with the "Adult" label, which can cause no end of trouble when it comes to marketability (just ask Frank Cho). Frankly, if a few lines of sexual innuendo and a bunch of skin pics are that important to you, you need to find another series, pal. Initial D is extremely light on intimate relationships, much less doing the nasty.
Oh, in case that pizza delivery thing hasn't been completely stamped out by now (I have the sinking feeling that it still isn't): It was proposed at one point when Tokyopop was trying to work out a TV deal. The deal never materalized, and it was dropped. There are no pizza references of any kind in the translated manga or anime. Feel better now?
P.S. - For the love of Pete, rent.

| When I first saw an AMV of that battle (saw the AMV before seeing the movie), I was confused as to what those glows were as well.
I'm gonna go with an aural effect. (my first thought was, "Oh look! Boosters!")
There isn't anything to reflect off of the structure except the SW20's tail lights, which are red, not blue (Kai's no ricer!). There aren't any lights on Irohazaka's hairpins, so it's not that either.

| Just a few facts...
First off the Hachi-Roku was produced from 1984-1987
2nd - The JDM HP rating of the factory bluetop 4age was around 130 and the USDM 115hp.
3rd The AE101 20v 4age wouldn't have been imported from another country for the simple fact they were made in Japan as later model Front Wheel Drive Truenos. The Silvertop 20v in Takumi's engine bay in real life produced 160hp from the factory and turned 8,200rpm. Now a highly modified 20v can reach 250hp, but it would be very costly.
Now as far as the bottom of the 86 in the jump thing, I could take a pic of the bottom of my car? lol. Maybe I should go watch that again and see for myself, guess I never really noticed it before.

| hi guys...
i just started watching Initial D 1st stage...
and i got some questions...
1) What is the diff between FC3s and FD3s?
2) Is there any diff when u drift a FF and a FR?
|Posted by: neko Aug 10 2005, 08:27 AM|
check these links. tons of info
FC - 2nd generation RX-7
FD - 3rd generation RX-7
well, of course
for little example look in Drift Diagrams
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Aug 10 2005, 08:11 PM|
Yes! You can drift an FR and you can't drift an FF. That's the difference. ^-^
Check out the Technical Forums for more information on drifting.

FF "drift" is called "ass dragging"

ive watched till bunta changed the engine in the AE86..
takumi tested the car and it is Damn Slow!
why is that so?
though ive watched akiyama explained to takumi (he understand but i dont get it!)... lol...
1 more question, wat is the diff between and the levin 86 that akiyama drove and trueno 86 that takumi drove?
can someone explained it to me?
thank you very much!
|Posted by: Silent121 Aug 13 2005, 12:36 AM|
|His shifting was wrong|
|Posted by: neko Aug 13 2005, 02:14 AM|
because he was revving like with the old engine.
with new engine he must rev to 11000rpm to unleash its full potential.
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Aug 13 2005, 02:15 PM|
| The difference between Wataru's Levin and Takumi's Trueno is simple, if we're talking about performance:
Takumi's engine is a naturally-aspirated race engine. Wataru's engine is a turbocharged 4A-GE. They run of different theories. I'm guessing you're up to as far as the TokyoPop DVDs (as they left off before we could really see the Levin in action).
So yeah. Takumi = No Turbo, Wataru = Turbo.

|Posted by: Tessou Feb 25 2006, 03:14 PM|
| If you are referring to the Tokyopop DVDs, the release of anything past Extra Stage (Volume 14) is still up in the air. Tokyopop DID screen an english version of Third Stage a few years ago, so it's not out of the question for them to release that sometime in the future.
Third Stage is probably as far as they will go. Fourth Stage might get translated due to it's huge popularity, but probably not by Tokyopop.

| One Question....
Having started on TP dvd's and then hearing so much about how they "raped the original" I purchased the original series via ebay. All seems well, good looking packaging 3 disc's, english and chinese subs.... but is the original version meant to look like this???? Very jumpy cuts, seems to look very pixelated, I got used to it after awhile but seems to look "substandard" after the TP version......I realize TP "tricked it up" for the US/AUS market....
IS this how it is or did I get ripped????

|I've read in wikipedia that Project D went to Kanagawa in the manga. I only saw the teams that they fought in Yabitsu. Are they going to race in Hakone too?|
|Posted by: Chidoki Jul 27 2006, 11:13 AM|
It hasn't been proven yet if they will race in Hakone but there is a very big chance in a way that is possibly a guarantee. IDF member Braja referred Hakone as a big chance since it is supposedly the most popular pass in Kanagawa and Yabitsu is one of the runner ups in popularity (as there could be another pass as popular but I'm not sure if there even is one).
|Posted by: mark4000 Jul 28 2006, 01:45 AM|
Boy...I wonder how they're gonna make a miracle out of this one? The only thing i see about Hakone that's significant is probably the dirt jump on one corner of the S curves. That and the dirt shortcut on the highspeed corner. There's probably more to this course since i've only seen it when playing WMMT.

| just a quick one, im from the uk, is there anywhere closer to homefor me to buy fourth stage? if not is jack a deal a trusted company? good feedback etc? and is it worth buying the extra stage from between third and fourth stage?
edit:is it also worth buying the extra stages from before the third stage?
|Posted by: Chidoki Sep 19 2006, 09:41 PM|
You might as well buy the Extra Stage for a more complete story. It's nothing special but at least it expands the story a bit further aside from Project D and anything with the 86 and FD.
|Posted by: tommo Sep 23 2006, 06:00 AM|
|sorry ill re phrase that, is it neccessary to buy the extra stages? ie does it enhance the story any more than if i didnt buy them......|
|Posted by: Chidoki Sep 23 2006, 08:26 AM|
not really necessary so it's not needed. There are maybe a scene or two that are parts taken directly from the manga however but the scenes are so small it's as if they never existed in the original manga. It's basically a completely separate show entirely.

| Just a little question from me, that I haven't found anywhere;
What does the 'D' stand for in Intial D? Same goes for the 'D' in 'Project D.'? (However IIRC, Fumihiro asked Ryosuke Takahashi what the 'D' stood for, and Ryosuke told him it would all become clear when Project D. finished.)
|Posted by: Chidoki Dec 11 2006, 12:06 PM|
Well you're not going to find it as you basically answered your own question that everyone asks about. The answer is quite simple...Initial D series hasn't ended yet so don't expect any correct answer. If you look around you should find quite a bundle of posts people keep asking about this.
|Posted by: Eight-Six Dec 11 2006, 12:18 PM|
Sorry, tried searching, but searching for 'initial' or 'd' won't deliver a lot of concrete results as you'll know why. Thanks for the clear answer though!
P.S. Maybe my question could be added to the F.A.Q. as you stated that there are a lot of people asking?

| I have a quick Question for you all,
Just wondering if sayuki (Simone (Sayuki)) from the team Impact blue has a car?
I know she is the navigator for Mako (maia) in her sileighty, but i know she has got to have a car of her own and it has to be front wheel drive. i have seen a honda CRX in initial D that is apart of Impact blue, any chance that is Sayuki's?
Thanks so much!
|Posted by: DamienWolf Feb 13 2007, 01:41 PM|
Actually, if I may make a calculated guess... the SIL80 of Impact Blue ACTUALLY belonged to Sayuki. I dont remember how I made this deduction before but remember that Mako actually had another car (remember, Iketani helped her fix it?).
I know, watch the Extra Stage. Try to pay more attention to everything there. I remember when I watched that, that's when I deduced that the SIL80 actually belongs to Sayuki and became sort of conjugal property or something. I may be wrong but try to watch it again.
|Posted by: SilEightyLady Feb 13 2007, 01:52 PM|
| Thanks so much!
yah that would in some ways make very good sence, how she knows exectly when mako nees to drift the sileighty and such.
I do remember the car mako was driving before when she was broke down and reviewed that as well, but it was some dinky eco. car mako was driving at that time.
Just wondering who drives the CRX for impact blue now...
Thank you so much though Damienwolf! Your answer has led my head into thinking a lot more about this team!

| ...Another great question! btw 207, love your saying you have: lucky EVO7...
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Feb 13 2007, 05:10 PM|
| I'm pretty sure that as the story goes, Mako was into racing. Her friend Sayuki felt for her, and being a little better off decided to buy the Sileighty for them.
It's in Extra Stage... I think... gah, I have to go back and watch.
|Posted by: 207 Feb 13 2007, 07:43 PM|
lol, ty v much. it was either Lucky evo7 or sil80 degrees but i played evo7 more so it won.
it was actually lucky, when i got evo7 card it gave the card with pic of mako and sayuki (not the snowboard one), my 2 fav card designs are the ones with impact blue
ya nomake, was just wondering where sayuki actually purchased the sil80

| I have a new question
Fourth stage Ryosuke talking about ortodox and unorthodox driving style.I can't understand this part. What is real difference between Keiuske and Takumi's style?
|Posted by: RacerPaul May 15 2007, 10:53 AM|
Keisuke uses circuit techniques like the nudge and usually just straight forward racing without tricks. Unlike Keisuke, Takumi exploits the environment around him by using tricks like the gutter run or blind attack. Takumi is much more familiar with mountain passes and its characteristics opposed to Keisuke. In no way am I saying Keisuke is less skilled it is just that Takumi has only driven on mountain passes while it is suggested that Keisuke may have driven on a track before going street. I think it also has to do with Takumi's ability to adapt to situations on mountain passes like in the Tomo battle. This is what I think Ryosuke meant and I could be wrong.
|Posted by: thrill3rnit3 Jul 11 2007, 07:59 PM|
Keisuke uses orthodox circuit-racing techniques. Since Takumi has been driving in the mountain passes since he was in 7th grade, he knows a lot about mountain passes and uses techniques that can be only applied on the mountains, such as the gutter run. Keisuke didn't know about the gutter run until Ryosuke explained it to him back in First Stage. You wouldn't use that on a circuit race, right? Or rather, you can't.
|Posted by: Nissan_drifter Jul 16 2007, 12:44 PM|
It doesn't say where they got the sil80 from they just talk about how they got into racing etc. I think you are asking where as in the location they bought at, so we don't know where she got from.

Is there? Or am I wrong?
|Posted by: brian_infinispirit Jul 25 2007, 10:16 PM|

...or i could be wrong, i haven't read the manga version, i'm just basing this on what i've seen in the anime version... O.o

|Posted by: fuji_tak Jul 28 2007, 07:58 AM|
|it's just that at this time and knowledge about car, Keisuke thank that it's impossible that a old dusty car like 86 with 17OHP could aovertake his power 300 HP FD. It's a shock for him. It's like someone who will be overtake with Veyron by GTR or evo.|

But Evo or GTR ovateke the Veyron possible in downhill.
|Posted by: Kerxn Jul 28 2007, 09:04 AM|

|Posted by: fuji_tak Jul 29 2007, 02:25 AM|
MURIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. Impossible for a GTR or evo to overtake Bugatti Veyron in touge. Veyron is heavy but the monstruous 1001 HP and its aerodynamic body, very large tire could make it very well. It's 2 world totally different. Veyron is the top of supercar that surpass prosche RS GT3, lamborghini and the latest ferrari.
kerxn>>It'd probably take up more than half the road.
Yes you are right Veyron body is very large. Impossible to find too space to overtake in montain pass lol. But for a car to overtake, it have to be bump to bimp. I doubt that with Veyron acceleration, one car could stay to its back.

|During Tomo vs Takumi battle they coming uphill section why Takumi said; my car underpowered? 240 bhp not enough uphill races? And Tomo's Type-R have more power than 240 bhp?|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 30 2007, 05:10 AM|
I don't know what subtitles you were watching, but...
Takumi says that if his car is underpowered, he won't be able to keep up. Obviously, he keeps up just fine (albeit because the gearing wasn't perfect for the EK9).
|Posted by: fuji_tak Jul 30 2007, 07:32 AM|
He didn't say that his hachi roku is underpowered (240 HP is much i think>>>350Z is 280-310 HP). Takumi is downhill project d ace. Before Tomo race, he didn't race with project D in uphill section. It was a first time for him. So he didn't know how his hachi roku react to this. But Project D set the hachi roku (gear set for uphill) better than Tomo civic that set it thinking that project d will come with the FD. Takumi said at the bottom of the uphill :"hachi roku (engine), i'm counting on you".
|Posted by: DeeezNuuuts83 Jul 31 2007, 07:05 PM|
Some of you guys are talking out of your ass. The Veyron is awesome, without a doubt, but some of you guys need to do your homework. It's not as aerodynamic as some of you think. The problem with it was that the shot callers came up with the design first based almost purely on styling cues rather than aerodynamics, so they had the basic design that had a mediocre Cd (coefficient of drag) and had to keep modifying it while trying to keep the design as close to the concept drawings as possible. It was a nightmare for the R&D team to hit the target of 250+ mph top speed while creating the necessary downforce while being able to effectively slip through the airstream. The older Ferrari F50 and McLaren F1 (which didn't even need a spoiler to hit 240 mph) were FAR more aerodynamically efficient. Plus it's not as "huge" as some of you seem to think. It IS a little on the wide side, but it's a bit shorter than an Evo and a lot shorter than a GT-R. Don't always rely on pictures to make your judgments.
|Posted by: Tessou Jul 31 2007, 07:26 PM|
|There's also the fact that the Veyron's high power would work to its disadvantage on a mountain course.|
|Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 31 2007, 10:22 PM|
I doubt that seriously. The Veyron had tires manufactured specifically for it because of that power. As long as you can still grip the ground, having high power is fine. It's having gobs of power with no traction that sucks. And on that note, how is the Veyron for low-end torque?
With a competent driver behind the wheel, I'm pretty sure that car could do some amazing things wherever it is...
|Posted by: DeeezNuuuts83 Jul 31 2007, 11:14 PM|
I don't know what the specific torque curve looks like, but with 8 liters of displacement, I'm sure it has tons of pull down low, and with the four turbos, I'm sure the mid-range punch is nuts. 922 lb.-ft at 2200 rpm is no joke. Anyway, they didn't give it AWD primarily for handling purposes, it's because with that much torque, you can't send it only through two wheels.
|Posted by: 207 Aug 1 2007, 08:25 PM|
|theres a guy i know, he has a black r32, he did a 3hr drift session and it did a job on the wheel bearings and they had to be changed. does such drifting hav the same effect for all ways that perform drifts?|
|Posted by: DeeezNuuuts83 Aug 1 2007, 11:31 PM|
Well, there's a lot to be considered. How aggressive the guy was drifting can play a role, especially when it's over three hours. Since it's an R32, it's probably reasonably old, so there was probably a lot of existing wear-and-tear already. And also the fact that it's AWD says a bit as well, since to properly drift an AWD car it puts more of a beating on the drivetrain components than on a RWD car.

Nope ... They just replace another suspension with same model ... Just repairing the car. Nothing about modified .

|Posted by: BOZZ Jun 30 2008, 06:00 AM|
No idea, I think it was just an attempt at getting through as much story as possible, also the first two Keisuke races aren't exactly thrill-rides...
|Posted by: mike962 Jun 30 2008, 07:44 AM|
He wins in the first round already both times Takumi has to "work" a lot harder in his races
I am really curios if Keisuke will have a rematch with Takumi and see if he gets owned again or this time Takumi loses
|Posted by: Meteor Jun 30 2008, 08:37 AM|
Probably the same reason they didn't show the FD VS Evo IV battle in Second Stage. They decided to save those battles for Battle Stage 2.
EDIT: I just noticed something.
Battle Stage has 1 never-before-seen battle. The FD VS Evo IV battle.
Battle Stage 2 has 2 never-before-seen battles. FD VS R34 and FD VS Integra.
So is Battle Stage 3 going to have 3 never-before-seen battles starring the FD?
|Posted by: BOZZ Jun 30 2008, 12:41 PM|
True, but FD vs EVO IV wasn't in the manga either (it was mentioned having taken place off stage)... so...
|Posted by: iconoklast Jul 4 2008, 04:11 PM|
I get the impression just from watching 4th Stage that if Keisuke and Takumi were to ever battle again that it would probably result in a Draw of some kind. Or, you know, one of those battles where Takumi wins, and he goes dude I so don't think I won, but the other guy is like "son you totally whooped me". I could be wrong though, but I doubt it. As much as I love the series with all my heart it is as predictable and formulaic as can be.

| What type of FC does Ryosuke have?
Series 4? Series 5? What does GLX mean? Why is it sometimes called the FC3S?

Ryosuke has a series 5 Rx7, you can always tell in between the s4 and the s5 by the tail lights. The s4 had square ones, while the s5 had the circular ones. Also, to answer your second question the gxl is the badge used to describe an rx7 for what ever peformance it made. Their were gxu's, gxl's and turbo 2's. For your final question, Fc3s is just the chassis code tha's used to describe the car. Just like an Fd is an FD3s. I hope this helps.

| For the FC3S in America, the trim levels went like this: Base, GXL, GTU, GTUs (1989+), and Turbo II. There was also the convertible, which was a drop-top GXL.
GXL added "luxury" stuff like leather seats and shit. 5-lug wheels were a good addition. Nothing terribly special over the base model non-turbo, but it was a step up.
The GTU originally was the top model NA version of the car. The biggest difference it had over the GXL (for the 86-88 model years) was an LSD.
The GTUs had all of the features of the Turbo II (suspension, wheels, better transmission, etc.) except with the NA motor. It's also rare as f**k.
The Turbo II is the top of the line FC3S, and is also the hardest to find in good condition. The hood scoop is the biggest giveaway between this monster and the NA models, but I've seen people that switched to a front mount intercooler and put an NA hood on the car for a sleeper effect. Watch out.

| Speaking of FCs, I saw the cleanest S4 TII ever at the autox on Sunday, I seriously had a hard time getting an accurately exposed shot the white was so bright:
I wasn't paying attention to the start line, so imagine my surprise the first time this came around the sweeper at me!
|Posted by: wanderer259 May 6 2009, 10:32 AM|
|That looks like the tenth anniversary model to me. But yeah, that's one clean fc!|
|Posted by: Tessou May 11 2009, 07:51 AM|
|That is most definitely a 10AE FC3S. S4 bumper w/ color matching rub strips and taillight housings, the white wheels, not to mention the 10AE badges on the fenders, give it away immediately.|

| Initial D... What does the "D" actually stand for?
|Posted by: Takahashi Rensuke Sep 7 2010, 10:56 PM|
no one knows until initial d stage 5 comes out.
|Posted by: dDrRaGeX Sep 11 2010, 09:40 PM|
|How many chapters is the current manga that takes place after 4th stage, and how many chapters is 4th stage composed of? Also, what was the amount of time taken between the end of the 4th stage manga and the start of the 4th stage anime?|
|Posted by: Banken Jan 7 2012, 12:38 AM|
Wrong. Shigeno has stated that it stands for Drift, but the meaning of Project D is still a mystery.
Personally I think it stands for Driver. As in professional driver; Ryousuke is preparing them for a pro careers.

|Something mundane that I didn't notice till now. Which of the characters smoke? I vaguely remember Keisuke and Kenta, I know obviously Bunta smokes. But I haven't seen anyone light up recently in these new chapters. And on this topic, what brand of cigarettes do they smoke? If anyone would like to take a guess?|
|Posted by: Banken Mar 21 2012, 07:17 PM|
| Ryousuke, Keisuke, Kenta, Nakazato, and Shingo do, at least.
I think the Two Evo Guys probably did?
And probably a few other minor characters.
|Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Mar 21 2012, 07:22 PM|
|RYOSUKE SMOKES?!? When did that happen? As a medical student, he should know the dangers that come with smoking and therefore abstain from such taboos. Keisuke obviously smokes because he's a punk, Kenta because he loves copying whatever Keisuke does, Nakazato and Shingo smoke because they're also punks in their own sense. But Ryosuke... Smoking? I wouldn't believe you unless I see a panel from the manga or a screen cap from the anime.|
|Posted by: Tomiya Takato Mar 31 2012, 07:37 AM|
There was a screen cap during stage 1. Whilst Mako was explaining her crush on Ryosuke to Iketani, Ryosuke smoked during that scene.
|Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Mar 31 2012, 08:55 AM|
| Oh HO! More than enough of a reason for me to marathon through First Stage again! I'll put up a screen cap when I find the scene in question. Thanks for the help!
EDIT: Found that screen cap. From First Stage, Episode 20. LOL, FUNimation watermark.
|Posted by: Tessou Mar 31 2012, 09:36 AM|
|Being a medical student or even a doctor does not mean they cannot smoke themselves. Not a big surprise to me at all.|
|Posted by: JKaiba Mar 31 2012, 11:51 AM|
|Over a quarter of the doctors I know smoke. Over half if you count casual cigar smoking. Ryosuke smoked back during first stage. I haven't watched the series in years and I remember pretty much everyone but Iketani and Takumi smoked. It's Asia... They're men. A large number of them smoke. There's nothing unusual about that.|
|Posted by: kyonpalm Mar 31 2012, 12:00 PM|
| I'm actually quite shocked you all didn't know Ryosuke smoked. There are at least a couple scenes in First Stage showing him doing so. One such scene I remember is during the race between Takumi and Kenta, after he calls Keisuke from their home.
He also smoked in the live action movie, but no one cares about that anyway.
I'm pretty sure he quit around Second Stage, since he has not been seen smoking since then. I think this is a deliberate move by Shigeno and probably has to do with him going to medical school.
|Posted by: Tessou Mar 31 2012, 12:18 PM|
|Whatever happened to Bunta's meetings with the chamber of commerce?|
|Posted by: kyonpalm Mar 31 2012, 12:29 PM|
I'm sure he was always lying. That, or by Chamber of Commerce, he really meant the bar.
|Posted by: Banken Mar 31 2012, 04:12 PM|
I have no doubt he actually mean the chamber of commerce because social drinking is a large part of business and in Japan. It's totally normal to go get drunk with your bosses in a company, or to go get drunk with the other business owners in town (like Yuichi, who runs the gas station).
Many times he told Takumi to come pick him up at the "shuukai jo" which means "meeting place," normally a multi-purpose building in every major neighborhood used for everything from playing ping pong to drinking parties.
|Posted by: Soran Mar 31 2012, 08:52 PM|
| First stage arc was written way back in 1995, when smoking was still relatively prevalent among young guys, especially the hashiriya crowd.
Nowadays however you notice that except for Bunta the rest are not shown lighting up, reflect the societal changes in Japan, especially with the clampdown on underage smoking
|Posted by: Tessou Apr 1 2012, 05:11 AM|
|The only smoking going on is being blown by Shigeno, passing it off as "exciting manga".|
|Posted by: hashiriyatakahashiryosuke Apr 6 2012, 12:56 PM|
in fact, Ryousuke does not smoke, never smoking appeared in the manga, just keisuke.
only in the anime, he appears three times: in memory of Mako; after talking on the phone with keisuke, during the race between Takumi and kenta and speaking with Nakazato is on Akina, while training after the defeat of keisuke.
|Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Apr 17 2012, 11:35 PM|
|Another question then. At this point in the manga, (before Takumi's AE86 vs Shinn's AE86) has Ryosuke been accepted into medical school? If so, what is the name of the university and how long has he been attending? I vaguely remember one of the characters talking about it in Third or Fourth Stage, but I forget.|
|Posted by: Tessou Apr 18 2012, 04:25 AM|
| Ryosuke vaguely mentions having about a year left before he has to move away from Gunma in Third Stage (manga chapter 147). After Takumi's rematch with Kyoichi, Keisuke pops up and also mentions the one year time limit, although nothing specifically says that Ryosuke is going to medical school.
As for later references, I haven't spotted them yet. The manga is vast, so finding these things could take time.
|Posted by: Banken Apr 20 2012, 12:10 AM|
| Ryousuke has been going to medical school the entire time.
The manga specifically says he goes to the medical school at Gunma University in Maebashi.
He had a year left before he had to go become a doctor. Medical interns have ZERO free time.
Now he only has a few more months before the first snow. But unless this is the last race of Project D, I imagine Shigeno could drag it out for another few years since it's not apparent what season or month they're currently in.
|Posted by: fuji_tak Apr 20 2012, 03:39 AM|
| ryosuke isn't an ordinary medical student. He doesn't need to do part time job.
With power of money and connection of his family in medical world he could do it with project d activities.
|Posted by: Banken Apr 20 2012, 04:09 AM|
Do you even know what a medical intern is?
|Posted by: Wanderer Jul 28 2012, 08:38 AM|
| Just a question since I haven't followed the manga, has there been any mention of a red Kouki S14? Seems he was a real challenge for Ryosuke before forming the Red Suns.

|Posted by: Meteor Jul 28 2012, 01:08 PM|
| Where did you hear about this? I don't think Ryousuke or any other character's ever specifically mentioned him having trouble with an S14.
Anyone else seen any mention of Ryousuke racing a red S14 in the manga or anime?
|Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Jul 28 2012, 01:13 PM|
| More surprising for me is the fact that Ryosuke had trouble with a challenger at all. Being number one on the RedSuns should mean that he is nearly god tier in racing.
Ok, seriously speaking now. I don't remember ever reading about a red Kouki S14 in the manga. But I'm sure that if they mentioned it they would have somewhere in the beginning of the manga where they introduced the Takahashi Brothers and the RedSuns.
|Posted by: Wanderer Jul 28 2012, 08:18 PM|
|Okay, it wasn't mentioned in the Manga/Anime, but it's seriously implied if you play as a red S14 (2nd) on IDAS3. Everybody has something to say about it, that never happened to me with my FC.|
|Posted by: Meteor Jul 29 2012, 03:08 AM|
|Does this only happen if you pick a red S14? What about other colours?|
|Posted by: Wanderer Jul 29 2012, 03:14 AM|
|Didn't try with different colors, but I had used the GC8 before, and that dialogue didn't appear.|
|Posted by: Meteor Jul 29 2012, 03:42 AM|
| Still don't know what's up with that.
So, what do the characters say exactly? Anything that stands out as implying Ryousuke had raced the S14 back when he was starting out?
|Posted by: Wanderer Jul 29 2012, 05:16 AM|
| K.T. mistook me for the guy his brother used to race all the time before Red Suns. Nakazato mistook me for another S14 that he had raced when he first got his 32.

|Posted by: Meteor Jul 29 2012, 05:30 AM|
| Well, that's interesting.
I'm guessing that was just something made up for IDAS3 to further involve your character in the plot. And maybe the person who wrote up those lines got tired of doing so afterwards, so you didn't see something like this when driving other cars.
Or maybe the writer for those lines owned a red S14 / knew someone with a red S14 / saw a cool looking red S14 once.
|Posted by: kyonpalm Jul 29 2012, 05:36 AM|
| Jeez, I can't believe you guys don't know who drives a red S14. It's Kenta.
...though that doesn't explain the whole "challenge" thing. Ryosuke would wipe the floor with him.
|Posted by: Meteor Jul 29 2012, 05:38 AM|
| But Kenta's S14 is orange
And I doubt Ryousuke raced him all the time before forming the Red Suns.
|Posted by: Wanderer Jul 29 2012, 05:55 AM|
|Plus Kenta's was a zenki, while I was using a kouki.|
|Posted by: Tessou Jul 29 2012, 06:02 AM|
| Kyon, if it was that obvious, why would the dialogue be written like that?
Besides, what the two posts above mine said: orange, zenki S14.
|Posted by: kyonpalm Jul 29 2012, 06:16 AM|
|Actually, if you play him in Arcade Stage (at least version 3) it's red, not orange. I think it's also this way in the manga, if I'm not mistaken. Again, I'm not saying this is possible, because he wouldn't have been a match for Ryosuke (or anyone really) anyway. Plus like Atrum said, he had a zenki, not a kouki.|

|I have a2nd stage question, Who Left the note on Takumi's locker that Myogi Natsuki is dating the guy in a Benz? I am thinking that it is Itsuki, since he is the only one who has access to it. Its far fetched for it to be sudo kyoichi right?|
|Posted by: Daniel_2k1 Nov 19 2015, 09:38 PM|
|It was one of Natsuki's female friends and it was revealed manga only|
|Posted by: r35gtr Nov 19 2015, 10:01 PM|
So her friend is not shown on Anime but on manga only? can any one post a pic of the manga series? Thankyou very much Daniel_2k1 .
I am guessing the girl who revealed it to Takumi has a crush on Takumi too?
|Posted by: Daniel_2k1 Nov 21 2015, 04:37 AM|
|I think she said Takumi was too good of a guy for her and you'd have to google it, chapter 158, thats where her reveal starts|

| Do you guys think Shigeno and the Initial D producers receive any money from Toyota/Subaru for using at as the cars of the main characters?
are there any rumours to it?
If I were Mitsubishi and NissanI would hate the Initial D series as my cars are either driven by as*holes , untalented jerks or sinlge guys who will never get laid
