Looks like pricing information is now available for the new Miata.

I've got to say, I'm pretty excited about this new Miata, probably the first time I've ever found a Miata somewhat aesthetically pleasing. I didn't initially find the new front-end attractive, but it is definitely growing on me. I like the rear, and the sides appear to have good body lines.

It'll be interesting to see how well the US version compares to its predecessors. Sounds pretty favorable so far.

Still wish there was a turbo option.

There was some speculation about that. I haven't really looked, but I'm guessing they didn't decide to provide that option... or have at least been silent about it.

I think I'd take a BRZ for around the same amount of money but with 45 more ponies.

That said, I'm eagerly waiting for a Mazdaspeed version.

Still waiting for that BRZ STi that Subaru keeps teasing us with, as well.

I think it's stupid that Subaru is making us wait that damn long. Come on. You've had the ability to do it when the car came out in the first place, so why are you pushing it until years from now?

I've never been a big fan of the FRS/BRZ. No particular reason. It just never really clicked with me.

The Miata took a while to grow on me. Even with this upcoming generation, I'm not completely sold on it yet.

Ultimately, I'd probably go with either the Fiesta or Focus ST as a realistic purchase option for me.

Subaru and Toyota want to maintain that the GT86's strong points lie in its lightness and nimbleness.
That said, it does lack that little extra oomph.

This new Miata should blow the current FRS/BRZ out of the water. 45hp is nothing compared to 500 (!!) pounds. The ND is slated to weigh in at 2300 lbs, while the current FRS/BRZ is 2800. This is a HUGE difference.

My AE86 with full interior is shy of 2500, and my stripped out Miata is almost under 2000

I am very excited for the ND though, and I can't wait to start seeing them on the street/at the track. It should be incredibly quick and nimble, going back to the roots of the NA.

Nice. I think my AW11 should be around the same as your AE86. You can strip more weight out of the AE86 though. We will probably feel the 200lb difference. The extra horsepower compared to the tired stock 4AGE is also welcome.

Had no idea the BRZ/FRS weighed just shy of 2800. I'd thought it weighed around 2500 for some reason.

My AE86 is a show car/daily at this point. I have retired it from all track duties since obtaining my Miata. I do not plan to change a thing to it now - F20 produces more than enough HP

2800 isn't even light for a modern AWD car... RSTIs are 2500 or less if done right.

That's still fat for a Miata. MazdaFord lost it with the third gen when it came to what a Miata is.

I'm not going to say I hate the NC, but as of yet it's definitely the letdown of the bunch. I mean, they're still fun as heck to drive, but they're definitely not the NA/B. They're still pretty quick though, my dad's NC in GT trim, fully loaded with the 6-speed, will almost keep up with a stock Evo X... Which while slow, are no slouch.

We've been talking about tossing my Volks under it and going to a local autox to wreck street class, would be a riot.

The Evo serves a higher price point than the Miata. The Miata is also lighter, so less wear on tires and brakes. Overall, the Miata still seems like a good value for a fun car (if you don't care about utility).

Generation wise, I think we're all a little disappointed with how the Miata has evolved. I don't know if this new generation will fix all that the NC got wrong, but I think reducing the stock weight is a good start.
