Bro I feel your pain...the day I got my renewal for tags on my car, a bitch destroyed my pass side...even though I yeild properly, and she attempted to flee the scene, I was still at fault.

Weeks later my dad decides to reverse right into the rear of my car in the driveway...

My beautifull dd now is just another shit box 240...sigh

I would ask my dad for a rocket bunny kit whistling.gif

but damn feel sorry for you, and op as well

Is that some CA18 love? Fuck yeah!

Care to explain how you think that's a CA18? I'm genuinely curious. No seriously I am; what part of that motor was the dead giveaway for it being a CA18?

Black valve cover, SR's are red iirc

You're correct in assuming SR's are red, but the red ones people are most familiar with were produced for only two years.
SR's came unpainted, blue, black, or red.

In fact, oddly enough, the CA18DET, the most common CA engine that you'll see in a S chassis; is red-orange in color.

At the end, you probably shouldn't ID engines based on their colors, but I do understand its quite commonly done.

A CA will look like a miniature version of the RB, and in many respects, its quite literally a RB that's been through the shrinking machine. The SR looks more like your average 4 cylinder motor. Also, notice the downward slope towards the transmission end of scubasteves valve cover? That's usually a dead giveaway for S14 and S15 SR's.

CAs also sit on something of an angle to the right in the engine bay.

I know we're mostly talking SR20DETs, but don't forget the champagne/pale gold SR20DE from the PS13 Silvia Qs (and possibly the 180SX Type S?) too.

Cool as that is, not sure why you'd want an FJ when the (black top) SR is superior in base form and has far more current aftermarket support tongue.gif

being honest the CA is a RB engine cut into a 4 cylinder. it really is, lulz

i know parts for the FJ are harder to find as of right now lets agree to disagree because i certainly believe the SR is at the bottom of the food chain. Regardless S14 looks wicked. I've seen some clean ones but that one is deff in my top ten.

Love the look with new wheels.

Interesting choice with going the 6 speed any main reason or just want a 6 speed?

Dont start the red top vs black top agument because it deppends on what you are aimming for as to wich one is better. Though in factory specs the s15 black tops are the best

Nice S14. Rare to see a facelifted one in the US nowadays. Couldn't even find too many of them for sale even in large sites like cars.com..

5 speed swaps are very common for s15 because the 6 speeds are just a tad weak fj

Fj are a good motor but sr have a lot going for them to make them a better motor

It was a good excuse to go with lsd I got a deal off a recycled s15 with 20k kilometers on it for the price of a blacktop s14 I had ca18 on my s13 hatch I hated the motor with a passion. Ill post progress pics had to get a shop to do the wiring. I actually want a authentic s15 in a few years.

Cam angle sensor!? CAM ANGLE SENSOR!? Well back in my day we didn't need no new-fangled cam angle sensor, we had a distribulator and a carburetor and we liked it! None of this computerized mumbo-jumbo!

If you had a carb and a distributor you'd be running by now! troll.gif
