I'm debating 10.5:1 CR + boost or 8.5:1 + boost. LOL soon very soon, gonna snag a N/A motor from the J-yard for $200 and build off of that.

the funny thing is, when the Z31 was first released in 1983 its first motor was a RB20, then VG20, and VG30. the final years they threw in the VG30DE, and it's a nice fitment it really is.

by adding cost up I'm estimating around 4k to finish JUST the motor. cams, forged rods, pistons, balance, flywheel, water pump, etc etc etc etc etc. 300hp right out of the box what more could you ask for?

been done before many times. the N/A DE's come 10.5:1. there was a guy who blew his 800hp twin turbo motor, he had a N/A laying around and put all the turbo stuff on it, went e85 and made 695hp at 28psi. been running that setup for 8 months now, still no issues to this date. the only other thing is he snaps CV axles, driveshafts burns clutches etc etc.

stock internals mind you.

You're right, that's just a silly idea on E85.

My record chaser bottom end consideration wasn't 11.5:1 or anything. derp.gif

The IMSA race cars back in the day would run over 100 psi of boost on a VG30ET. blink.gif

lmao sometimes the VG30ET's wouldnt even make it a race. there were times they snapped crankshafts from the insane torque and power they made.

Well, considering F1 cars -are- running turbos right now... yeah.

But they're little tiny 1.5 liter turbo 4's, and sound no more exciting than everything since the V8 rule was implemented.

Honestly, I'd rather listen to a Honda CBR250RR... hey, now that I think about it, it has a higher redline than F1 cars, too!

No he's talking about 1980's F1 turbos, 1000+ hp from a 1.5 V6 or BMW 4 banger.

1,000 hp out of a little car that weighs 1,500 pound holy fuck that must be scary.

thats why the FJ20 was made. originally it was made as a FJ15DET nissan spent millions the following year they banned turbos nissan was left with a 1,000hp engine they couldnt do anything with. they bumped the displacement and threw it in the rally cars and in production cars.

I've heard of FJ's holding 650hp on all stock internals lol the rods and internals are so beefy it puts the VG30's to shame. laugh2.gif its comparable to a chevy 350's bottom end.

by far i think it's the best motor nissan EVER built even to this day. better then the CA, KA, SR, QR the FJ is a monster of a 4 cylinder. if i could only get my hands on one sad.gif they even made a FJ24S 10.5:1 compression 2.4 liter and it makes 275hp derp.gif what honda do you know had heads that flow that well whistling.gif

lol anyway raised the boost to 15 pounds and it pulls SUPER hard. cool.gif need to get her dyno'd and tuned.

Yes i remember a few years ago reading about how nissan wanted to use the FJ in F1. And the FJ24 was used in group B rally and it sounded MINNNT!
